Juggling challenges is so true. I've resorted to using a document to detail all the challenges I'm actively working on. Days I need to make a find and key words, attributes Currently working on: 1) Mystery caches every day of the year. Down to three days left in November 2) Five caches every day. 16 days left scattered from tomorrow to December 3) Attributes: >10km need 1 & 3, <10km need 41, cows need 11 4) Key words: "End of the Road", "balanced", wine related 5) type: Need 15 Letterbox, 46 virtual, 25 lab 6) Locations: Nevada Multi, Tennessee, Alaska, Louisiana, Kauai Hawaii, counties named after presidents Every trip I look for caches that may help.

You mean caches like these are no fun? Where is the Purell?

I share that problem as well. First to DNF lol. Did a bike trail today. Found 2 DNF 3. From the sounds of the logs 2/3 were problems the 3rd may be a tough one I ran out of time and had to run.

Ok first i agree but will play devils advocate here. The only thing I see as benefit of waiting is that the former cacher in possession gets to claim a "dropped of log" which is used in some challenges. So some may see it as a courtesy to wait. Fine I get it but it is not a requirement. I'd log specially if they had logged the find and failed to log the trackable. Yes the apps interface for trackables could use a lot of improvement it is not difficult. They probably forgot or did not care. As for accuracy of the logs. I rarely log all my visits of trackable due to the afore mentioned app deficiency.

If you found a trackable and took it you should log immediately use "Grab It (Not from a Cache)" This takes physical possession from the previous cacher and places in your inventory. I've found multiple trackables where the cache I found it in was not logged by the cacher in possession of the trackable which tells me multiple cachers have not logged properly.

The cache example I use for this is GC12 1853 favorites or 52% favorited. It is an unremarkable hike in the woods to an unremarkable location but a tourist draw. When I found gc12 it was a 5 gallon bucket full of smelly/slimey water. Was I glad to find it yes but there are far better caches out there. At least GC17 is a beautiful hike with a spectacular view if the weather cooperates.

How about %favorited but since not everyone gives out favorites even that is flawed. The top favorited cache in the US is GC8NEAT 6416 favorites but only 19% favorited.

I think you should not be worried about p*SS offing cachers who are going for the FTF. That is one individual. Spreading out enables others to fight as well. Specially if the caches are not in a themed series. Though if the caches are on a linear trail you might annoy a few folks having to do it over again. But really it is all good fun and exercise. Maybe sopace them out over a month or two if you wish. Last week we had a themed 5 cache series with bonus cache along a 1 mile path that dropped all at once. I was meeting a friend for lunch nearby so was going to give it a shot but noticed someone had already claimed. So I saved it for another day. This was nice to do all at once I'll admit specially with the bonus caches. I've also claimed FTF on 16 of a back country gravel road series. But honestly it would not annoy me to return to a location. If it was a 5 mile hike I may choose to not return for a long time but we have no right to be annoyed.

Let's face it saturation in urban areas is a fact of life for most of us. Ignoring it and saying go place somewhere else less saturated is not the answer. Nor is ask the reviewer. A better system is needed. If you want to think outside of the box I'm sure plenty of folks have ideas.

I'm going to have to agree with @cerberus1 You need to confront but do so gently and with respect. Kindly ask if they removed the cache from the property. If they deny indicate the high quality video footage. If they say they were picking up trash, reply again nicely, that you had permission from the land owner and that the cache and it's contents are your property. If they refuse file a police report. If they say they threw it away then it is up to you to ask for compensation or not. Ask that it does not happen again. Now in this case it does not seem to be a problem but I've seen many a cache archived because of nearby landowners not happy with cachers lurking in their immediate area or no legal(safe) parking except on their property Good luck please let us know how it goes.

New hiders with 1 find. Currently on a geocaching road trip. In between jobs right now so have some extra time on my hand. Last night checked for new caches along my route. Wow one town I was planning to drive through had 4. As a recovering FTF addict I had to try. Don't worry I'm not going back to being crazy besides it was a new provinceI where I did not have one in yet. Long story short was 1/4. Which is fine I am regularly the first to dnf caches. Though I was not alone others had issues. Just really bad hints like "cap" The cache name had emojis of baseball caps. Or "Please find the frog". So terrible hint. I'll message the owner and offer a few suggestions. Just venting

Because it is not a favorite point challenge. It is a leaderboard challenge with custom value for different find types. Ignoring that. Does anyone else wish they used favorite point% rather than favorite points. Can't tell you how many older caches have high favorite points but really are meh. Most of the geocaching tourist draws I feel fall into this category. Looked on project-gc %favorite page and found a few that I'll try to target for this next challenge that don't show up as high favorites but a pretty good.

Got mine last week. My advice is if possible seek out the Adv. Lab caches. Was able to get 4 just by walking around the block.

By default any mystery cache without corrected coordinates except challenges are unfindable and clutter up your screen. I use my app to find caches nearby that I CAN find.

Shouldn't intentional "red herrings" be marked as not a cache?
