Here are the Top 10 Geocache finders who have not placed a cache for the rest of us to find. Otherwise known as Freeloaders !! I don't care if they are Charter members or not, if they haven't placed at least 1 cache for the rest of us to find, then they are Freeloaders !! Finds Hides Stats removed by admin. Now, it's easy to get off the Freeloader list, all you have to do is place 1 cache for the rest of us to find !! I got these numbers off of Dan Miller's website on May 20th, 2002. It is possible that one or more of these people hide caches under a different name than they find them, if so let me know and I will remove you from the list. Majic, to try and make things more clear: I have 77 finds with the basic Garmin Etrex (the yellow one) and I paid $100 for it over a year ago. The GPS functionality is plenty good to find caches with. The only thing more money buys you is mapping and some other bells and whistles but the actual GPS part of it doesn't get any better when you spend more money, at least not in the first $400 or so, as far as I know.

Seneca, If found counts don't matter, then why are you so concerned about it?

Okay, In response to this thread about Junk in caches ,as a test, I placed a new two stage multicache last weekend and I put nothing in the cache except two pens and a logbook. Upon finding the empty cache, the first finder called me a Cheezeball and the second wrote, "Of course, the road got smoother and next thing you know, we were at the cache! No problem finding it, but what happened to the contents? What? A keychain and two pens? After all of that fighting?" So now my cache that I started out bare now has an emergency whistle, scented candles,and some insect repellant. Not bad. Then I just read this note from the fourth finder: Left a free Coke Cap, T-Shirt, keychain, and a little white rock from the rogue banks. Took nothing so the cache could grow. You can draw your own conclusions about my little experiment. Now for my opinion on the subject: The baubles in the caches are mostly about the kids. Greetings friends, I found two virtual caches today without even leaving my computer. Should we allow virtual caches that are so easy you can find the answers just by conducting a search at www.google.com? I thought virtual caches had to be places that you actually had to go to, but that you could log a find by retrieving some information that could only be found at the location. Okay, I just wanted everyone to know that they are now here, Charter memberships and subscription-only caches. I will leave it up to you all to decide if this is a good, bad, or indifferent thing, but here is an example of one of the caches. (This URL) (old URL was wrong - Jeremy) In order to get the coordinates for this cache, you have to be a Charter member of Geocaching.com, and I think right now charter membership is $30 dollars a year, I think that's what I read. - Peanuthead Moderator modified this post to have the correct link.
