  1. I am not the jealous type, but even I become green with envy when I read what Lazyboy and Mitey Mite have been doing the last couple of weeks:

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest_cache.asp?ul=Lazyboy+%26+Mitey+Mite

49 weeks of the year these folks pretend to be backwoods hicks from Butte Falls, Oregon. Then, for 3 weeks every year, they play like international jetsetters and go live large in Hawaii, scuba diving, sucking down pineapple, and GEOCACHING !!

Heaven love 'em, those chameleons should at least bring me a t-shirt for all my jealous suffering.

  2. Due to the controversy surrounding the use of Ammo Boxes as cache containers, Cachew Nut recently posted that he no longer uses Ammo Boxes.

He says he now uses Mortar Tubes.

  5. To find out how far you are from Baghdad and which direction is the shortest route from where you are, just enter N33 20.000 E44 24.000

into the ol' GPS. Those are the coords for Baghdad, or close enough. To make it interesting try to guess the distance and direction before you enter it in your GPS.

  6. Having worked as a moderator and administrator on a website before, I have to tell you it is a thankless job. Especially when you consider these people are probably volunteers, just doing it for the love of Geocaching. Being a website admin is fun for the first two weeks or so, after that it is a responsibility wrought with several headaches more than anything else.

A well thought out and placed geocache could last 20 years. In my opionion a few days of delay in the beginning should not be a paramount issue. icon_rolleyes.gif

  7. Pizza VI is coming, and the Boxerlovers have added a couple of twists that I like very much.

First, there is a contest where whoever finds the most caches the day of the event wins a prize. I think that's great because it favors out of area cachers who come see us for the event, as we locals have of course already found most of the caches in the area.

Second, there is also a token of appreciation for whoever places a cache between now and the get together.

    Here's the URL:

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=46816

Y'all come see us now, ya hear?

(We're not all hicks actually, so you city slickers come on down and find out fer yerselves.)

    Heh.

  9. I read this on a travel bug log:

    "Note from ********************:

Another virtual bug find thanks to the posted tracking number icon_smile.gif"

My opinion is that this is WEAK.

Please note that I deleted the name of the poster (no, the number of spaces is not correct.) I am not a namecaller.

    This is weak BECAUSE:

    1. The poster obviously did not find it the traditional way

    2. Most of the time when a travel bug number is posted somewhere it is not done by the owner of the bug, but done by a Newbie finder, or by the media in a photo.

  11. I lived in Forest Grove for 6 years, and I never saw the sun from October thru March in any of those years. Of course, RAIN may be too strong a word, it was actually just a CONSTANT DRIZZLE.

Depressing. Some people say it's nice because you can use fancy colorful umbrellas to accent your wardrobe, and it is always cool enough to wear nice fashionable suits and sweaters and such.

    I say, "Rain. Ptooey!"
