  1. After deciding which list is best how does someone determine the boundaries for the caches anyway?
  2. Well done Keith and Mo on reaching your 500th. (and for setting so many that I have enjoyed as well)
  3. We've also come across some needles and other unsavoury items in the undergrowth on occasions. I always take my stick along with me and use it to poke around to loavcte the cache. I also like walking with my stick and my wide brimmed (jackaroo) hat, I think I look quite 'countrified' sometimes! (Just need to work on getting a country estate somehow though! )
  4. I also have a Nuvi 360 and used to use it for geocaching before I got my 60csx. I have TopoUK maps on it also and it works quite well. Unfortunately the batteries don't last too long and you have to take care lugging it around though. Being able to input the coordinates is great - it takes me as close as possible to the cache, then I continue with the other unit. I used to download the cache waypoints to it unit but found that it was easier just to type in the coordinates on the way. You can definitely use it by itself for caching - I did for a couple of months before the bug really got me!
  5. It might not be the right place, but I'm glad to hear about it and might not have doen so had it not been here. Just signed it myself and the total is just coming up to 710000.
  6. It seems that you cannot use the wap site to view new caches with the 7 character references such as GC12345. THe old ones GC1234 work fine - but the new ones are not found. I found this out yesterday when out caching I wanted to use my mobile to check the clue for a cache I was looking for. Has anyone else noticed this? (You can try this at http://wap.geocaching.com ) Edit: It's being worked on - I found this: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry2683743
  7. These magnetic lights make great nano cache containers. I bought some for a series I'm planning and have lots left. They measure just 15mm high by 10mm diameter and have very strong magnets. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to say the price etc on the forum so if anyone's interested please contact me via gc.com.
  8. You can only see that dark figure in the doorway if you look very carefully - and he looks quite friendly to me....
  9. Great idea. We could also play spot the ghost...(can you see it?)...
  10. I don't know what all the fuss is about I can't see anything unusual...
  11. Maybe the figure wasn't in the picture when it was taken and has manifested itself since....
  12. A toast to all cachers! Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to many more great caches in 2007.
  13. Mine arrived too this morning - dropped it at lunchtime in this cache in Wargrave. It's on it's way to Sanary-sur-Mer near Marseilles in France.
  14. VistaPrint are pretty good. I've bought the 'free' items before. 250 cards plus a stamp delivered for 6.32
  15. Got mine today too - looks good - thanks Matt
  16. When driving WAAS is not of any real use as the navigation snaps to the roads anyway. When caching if you have a clear view of the southern sky and can pick up the WAAS sats then you should get a more accurate position - however it's likely that you will be walking through tree cover or not have a clear view of the southern sky in which case WAAS won't be picked up, at least not all the time. What makes you think that 'it appears slightly better with WAAS disabled'? What are you referrencing your position against?
  17. I use this great downloadable utility from Russ Hore: http://www.russ-hore.co.uk/osgb/index.php
  18. I hope that the only expaination for this is that the crew had never heard of this hospital nor had any idea where in the country it was. They must have then relied completely on the satnav database to tell them which way to go. I wonder which satnav it was.
  19. Are you saying that **** will not consider any refund because you didn't take out insurance with them?! Considering they leave personal details in rubbish bags outside for normal refuse collection what else can be expected! The irony of all of this that they do not wish to get involved and can actually make money out of the fraud. For example you have lost your money, the merchant who someone premably spent the money with has had a chargeback fee for a fradulent purchase and has lost his goods - who wins? the fraudster AND the bank. Had you taken out insurance the bank would've made money on that too! Sorry to rant on. You are of course correct that it doesn't just happen to someone else - but I don't believe the banks do nearly enough about it, considering the profits they make out of us.
  20. On a business account Paypal's worst rate is 3.4% + 20p per transaction. There is no charge to send the money. If you send 5.25 then 38p is deducted. On a personal account (you can only receive two payments per year for a c/card) then if the sender has a Paypal account the transaction is free for both. More details here: https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cm...ay-fees-outside I hope you're not going to get less than you thought.
