  1. I talked with a CTC owner, and in his words "Oh boy, Corporate going to take a beating on this one!!" . He stated that my best bet was to call the customer service number in the catalogue, and get them to start a file on your claim for the reduced pricing. Then if your plea is accepted, they will ask which store you want to deal with, and then send them a fax authorizing them to sell it at the reduced price and giving the store a flex credit for the difference. Otherwise the store owner takes the hit for the difference in pricing. So if you get along with your local dealer and don't want them to suffer the customer service is the way to go. There is a disclaimer re pricing on page 379, but it is normally meant to handle the occasional 'oops, it says the clothspins come in blue but that is a typo' not a $500 difference on a major/high profile item. So we have a chance here. Good luck everyone, but act quickly.
  2. Being as this program seems to have proven itself within the geocaching community, I would humbly suggest it recieve the GC.com approval and get a link within the 'Downloading GPX/LOC Files' section along with the other greats like , GPS Bable, Spinner, Clayjars Watcher, etc. It is a freeware program created by one of our own and is a great tool for the experienced and newbie alike. Just my 2% of a $.
  3. I have had great success doing the same as Olar and just 'check them as I need em'. If you were to do this on Saturday morning, you could then get the most up to date results. My experience so far has been tick the box and before you have time to get up and pour yourself a cup of wake me up coffee, the results have been sent and are in your mailbox. If you need them any faster than that, you should look at getting a direct T1 line into the Geocaching server
  4. Could one of TPTB comment on this idea and it's feasibility of being incorporated into the PQs.
  5. Dino you beat me to the punch and got your reply sent as i was typing.
  6. I am not sure why you are unable to load more than that as I believe there is no limit to the number of caches you can have in GSAK. I presently have 658 in main file. The GSAK program allows for the repeated downloading of many different search results, where by it compiles all of the results into one file, omitting the duplicates cache pages, to keep them from accumulating. Are you sure that even though you asked for max 500 caches in you search, that you actually got 500 back. Sometimes due to your search criteria you don't always get the 'max' number back, but rather all that apply to your criteria. A way to test this is to do a general search, like for all traditional caches, unfound, 750 km radius, max 500 caches, leave difficulty and terrain blank, highlight all the states and provinces. Be sure to choose the 'zip this file' as the resulting file will be huge. Watch the display when you are loading the file into GSAK and see what the file count 'being downloaded' gets up to.
  7. I don't believe there is a way to see how many posts that 'you' have viewed, but you can see haw many times a 'post' was viewed. It is in the main/opening thread listing page. Why would you want to know how many posts you have viewed, if I might be so bold as to ask?
  8. I have ben getting a number of different but similar errors like yours listed while trying to do a number of different things on GC.com tonight. It is the first time I have had andy real issues with this site. It is also running very+++ slow at times, I think that there are just alot of people out there that don't have real lives outside of their 'puters. Hey wait that doesn't include me does it ....I mean I did recognize the problem. So either I am better than everyone else or I have just started step one of a 12 step program ...Hi I'm MedicP1 and I am addicted to techno toys and the smell of plastic in the woods!
  9. Hey Jamie I just read your profile and, I think being young and all, you shouldn't need four years to paddle the Yukon River. Unless you plan on paddling with just your bare hands. HEHEHE
  10. RockyRiver, you called it right and got over $100. Congrats
  11. So IV Warrior, am I to assume that you are also a fellow Paramedic?
  12. Ya Jamie I presently use EasyGPS and am trying out GSAK. I just thought that if this site could do it with ease it might also add something to draw in more paying members, and this way it will also give a matching copy for the PDA users. I just discovered, while multitasking while writing this, that GSAK allows the creation of HTML files for PDA use of cache descriptions. This is very cool.
  13. Would it be possible to add another variable to the PQs where you could not only set the outer range (distance) for the caches but also the inner range (distance). This would allow members to limit the search area to outside their immediate area, thereby soving the problem some are having with a build-up of 'nearest caches' that are unsearchable for any number of reasons. No more complaints about having to scroll through the first few pages of their search results to reach the 'valid' caches.
  14. Hey your listing says you will ship to US only. Will you ship to Southern Ontario Canada?
  15. I didn't get to participate in the online chat, due to work. I love the logo, but have to agree with DirtRunner that the trillium should be rotated but I also think the compass rose should be rotated to acurately reflect North in relationship to Ontario. Any thoughts?
  16. Count Medicp1 and caching crew (3 walking & 1 carried) in on the festivities. I just got free from work. Let's hope noi one gets sick like last time and forces us to cancel.
  17. I just got through talking with my local CTC store manager and he said that so long as you bring in a hard copy (computer printout) of the pricing, even from another province's store(GPSCentral, etc.), they will still price match and discount the item as per normal. So If people can get over their hangups with the store you can feed some money into your locale and maybe they could hire more experienced staff.
  18. Benadril liquid, should normally take effect quicker than the antihistimine tabs(as mentioned by Utahjean above). I wonder how many other EMT, EMA, or Paramedics are geocachers there are on here. I'm a Paramedic in Ontario.
  19. Why not just create a different 'name' (like the 'tadpole' one) for those under 18 and have a tick-box 'under 18 yrs' in the profile set-up area for those creating their identity. That way when they post to any thread it will alert others that there is a youngen participating in the chat. It will at least give everyone a chance to tailor their comments and more importantly the flaming that might arise from a 'youthful' opinion. It would still fall to the parental units to monitor what their kids are viewing and is by no means meant to put the onus on others to police the content.
  20. I find that if you check the day that you are actually creating the PQ on (unless it's 1 hour before midnight), you'll get your query back within the hour. The issue of you not getting your repeats could also be due to the email account you're sending it to not accepting it. I had this problem and was given a few great solutions.See this thread. Anyways, welcome to the big times of geocaching. With PQs you'll see once you start playing with them it makes the hunting more convenient. Do you have a PDA of any sort? If so, the paperless pages of Mobipocket are great.

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the other tupperware stalkers out there. Hope that everyone got everything they deserved for Christmas, and everyone got to visit with all those on their lists.
  22. Jeremy, sorry if I misinterpreted your comments to me, re. the hotmail issue. As I understood it they were kicking back the emails to your server. I have had PQs destined for my hotmail and excite accounts, that haven't arrived after 3 weeks so I think it's a little more then them getting 'delayed' in a queue. I admittedly haven't had any sent to my accounts in a zipped format, but will try that next. Please don't even get me started on AOL. The only thing good about them I've found is that their free CDs make great inexpensive signal mirrors for in the bush. They even come with a built in sighting hole.
  23. Errr, I'm sorry Daryll, I read dem instructions wrong, it seys here yur supposed to "log the cache" not "cache the log"!!!!!
  24. I am starting this thread to assist others who are'nt recieving their Pocket Queries. After becoming a Premium Member I was looking forward to using the PQs, only to be disappointed and confused. I set up my first PQ, a very broad search to see if everything would work on my Pocket PC, I received a responce and it worked beautifully. I then set up a more exacting PQ to serve my needs, that is where it went down the toilet. No matter how I set up my PQs I could get nothing to generate back to me, nor could I even generate something using the original settings. Finally after approx 25 attempts, starting to feel like an idiot, and an email from Jeremy, I believe I discovered the whole problem. The PQs will not only not be accepted by Hotmail (who Jeremy told me frequently bumps Geocachings PQs off their server) but also not be accepted by any excite.com email addresses. I had to find a third email address so as to use/receive the pocket queries. Could geocaching.com list the email providers that they know won't accept the PQs on the PQ set-up page. Perhaps even somewhere that non-premium members could see them before getting the premium membership, so they could take care of this detail and not get p'ed off at the geocaching site. Until then I give this thread, for those who have had similar problems with other email providers to list and save others from treading down the same frustrating path.
  25. Yes but more importantly, does your ISP filter out the 'spam' HEHEHEHE
