  1. We had the same problem. Bought a palm pilot with usb cradles from e-bay. Turned out the usb connectors were bad. Seems to be a static problem. Anyway, we got on e-bay and bought a serial cradle and it works fine.
  2. I am also having trouble with my queries. Am I doing something wrong or what? When I check them, they say they have generated but no e-mails are coming through. I tried using two different e-mails, but nothing. AT the top of the page, it says the query is running. HELP! axetowax
  3. We very rarely take anything from the caches we find and if we do, we try to leave something of equal value. But mostly, we are just in it for the thrill of getting out of the house and having fun doing it! We don't even usually look to see what is in the cache. The fun is just in finding it! axetowax
  4. Thanks to everyone who responded! Gave us some idea of what we want. Just plan on using it for caching right now, so the cheaper, the better! Thanks again! axetowax
  5. Help! We were at a geocache chat a few weeks ago and someone there had a palm pilot with about 500 caches listed. We were thinking of getting one but no idea where to start or what to get. Anybody out there who can help? Thanks! axetowax
  6. I have given him the chance to edit it, but he hasnt done so and it has been over a week. I will probably just let it go this time. Thanks to everyone who replied! axetowax
  7. Thanks to everyone for getting back to me! I appreciate it. I will leave the logs go for now and see what he does in the future. In my e-mail to him, I told him I realized by how many finds he has that he is relatively new to the sport and that maybe he didn't realize what he was doing, but I thought he would at least respond to my e-mails. I wouldn't have a problem with the extra coords if that is how he worded it, but he makes it sound like I don't know what I am doing and mine are wrong and his are right. I know another cacher in our area who did delete one guy's log and it did really tick the guy off! I don't want to make anyone mad, but I also don't want to spoil the hunt for others. I think that the hunt makes the sport! Moose Mob, no, it doesn't seem to be just with mine. Idiosyncratic, which cacher are you referring to as being rude? This guy uses his ham radio call letters. axetowax PS. I love geocaching!!!
  8. We have been setting caches in the area and after we mark a waypoint, we set the cache, then walk away and see if our gps brings us back to it or not. If it does, we go ahead and place the cache and log it on the cache web site. We have a new cacher in the area who seems to think it is his responsibility to add spoilers to our caches or change the coordinates because he thinks ours are wrong. Guess he doesn't think his gps can be off by a few feet or so. None of the other finders have said anything about needing more clues or better coords. I e-mailed him a week ago and asked him to please refrain from adding more clues and to please go back in and edit his logs. He has not seen fit to answer my e-mail or change the logs. When is the proper time to delete his logs or should I just let them be? He is telling people where to look or where not to look. Most of the caches are rated as 1-1. Thanks! axetowax
  9. We have a Venture and ours does the same thing. I just start walking a little bit faster and it seems to turn. In the meantime, I just watch the countdown to see if I am getting closer or not.
  10. Okay, thanks! I will try setting it down and see what it does. Won't try so hard to get it perfect. I know when we look for caches that sometimes the coords are off a bit. Thanks again for the suggestions! axetowax
  11. Help! We are trying to set a few caches and having a bit of trouble. We use two gps units to mark a way point, but when we walk away and come back, we are usually 20-40 feet off. The two units are usually pretty close on the coords so what is the problem or should we just average the two and hope for the best? Thought maybe it was the batteries, so we tried new ones. Anyone ideas? Thanks! axetowax
