I've now got 6 caches under my belt. While not a lot, it's made me notice that most of you are right in saying a lot of the caches are full of crappy things. Granted my 5 year olds likes the old toy figures and stuff, most of it isn't great. One I actually had to go through and throw some things out because it had candy and broken things in it. I left a few extra of my own things so the next people who found it wouldn't have a near empty cache. How many people cache with their kids? I haven't seen a cache yet that wasn't full of kid stuff. Actually... one I found had a book of matches in it wasn't sure that was supposed to be there since it was only my 2nd cache. I am really looking forward to placing my own cache and filling it with neat things for people to find! Thanks for all your input!

Good question for the geocaching.com forum. The Mapquest maps are the old way. The maps you refer to are the "new" Google maps. For some reason, we're back to the old maps. Thank you!! I thought I was losing my mind! I hope it goes back, I really liked the Google map. I noticed I can click on the google map on a cache page, but it will only let me see that one cache, not a bunch like the other map did. But, Thank you for confirming that i'm not (completely) crazy!!

What do you like to take along to leave? What items are not such a great idea (Aside from the obvious i.e. weapons, explosives etc.)

Whenever I click on the map on a cache page it takes me to MapQuest. The map I am looking for (Unless I dreamed it LOL!) gave me the locations of 20 or so random caches in my area and I could scroll through multiple pages and it would give a little green balloon with a number in it marking the cache on the map. I could click on the balloon and get the coordinates etc. Does any of this sound familiar or am I on something?

At some point on the site I came across a map that had little numbered balloons that marked each of the Cache's in my area. You could zoom in on them etc. but now I cannot remember how to get to that map. Can anyone clue me in? Thanks!!
