  1. a little flex, followed by a little wave...
  2. While caching, I've run into more critters than I can count, from Black Bears to Moose. The camera isn't always ready, but below are the pics I managed to snap and post on GC... A tree frog in Richmond VA This Bull was loose in CO, and he wouldn't let me out of the vehicle... Here are the first Mt Goats I ever saw, on Grays Peak CO. A big buck in Palmer Lake CO. The cache guardian, Castle Rock CO.
  3. When you describe earthcaching to the landowner, be sure to explain the difference between earthcaching and geocaching. Specifically, earthcaches are owned and approved by the Geological Society of America (GSA) and only listed by GC... You don't have to mention geocaching at all to gain permission, and it might be easier that way.
  4. One book covers west of I-25 south of I-70. The other covers west of I-25 north of I-70.
  5. posted some pictures for: 1. Air Down 2. Poser Rock 7. The Jeep Wave 8. A Cirrious Situation including my folly...
  6. Check out this site: http://www.traildamage.com/ for trail information. As far as the altitude goes, I've heard it called 'bear syndrome', all you'll want to do is eat and sleep. Ensure you stay hydrated and don't over exert yourselves.
  7. Excellent choice! the standard garmin suction cup mount would work fine. you also might want a couple extra belt clips and buttons for the back; those things keep crumbling apart on me.
  8. I just found one of these racing geocoins the other day. These rules are ridiculous. rule 2. I'll log a race coin in or out of whichever cache I feel like, smiley or not. It would then be up to you, the race host, to score the coin correctly, not me the random cacher who finds the coin. rule 3. The owner of the race coin shouldn't be asked to delete any logs of caches visited by their coin. That changes the history of the coin, the history of the cache, and quite possibly the history of the random cacher who picked it up. Again, that's up to you, the race host, to score it correctly. rule 4. No brainer. An owner wouldn't randomly find their own coin. It would be intentional to keep the coin moving.
  9. Sounds fun... I'm curious as to what kind of extreme physical challenges this curse may present???
  10. Great thanks! I was just brainstorming this quoted statement as well. IE: summit a few mountains within one range, unlocking portions of the coords, and maintain one cache. However, this doesn't seem to prevent a team effort by cachers who share those portions of coords. (then again, 'we' all share puzzle cache solutions...)
  11. That is helpful, thanks! By "wickets", I meant "zones". For example: Could I make the first zone at a trailhead, then have a few following "zones" along the trail with the final "zone" being the end of the hike (or the summit of a mountain). Where each "zone" reached, will give you the directions to reach the next "zone"? Another question(s): What indicates completion of a cartridge? reaching the final "zone" and then connecting your device to the website for verification? Why must there be a physical cache as a requirement to list a Wherigo 'cache' on GC. It seems like that is limiting a lot of potential for this game. For example: hiking mountains far from home where cache maintaince can't be done, and areas where physical caches are not allowed, (Colorado has Wilderness areas that don't allow caches, but posting a Wherigo 'cache' along some of those trails would be great.)
  12. did Lax say something naughty!??
  13. Thanks! Click the "let us know" link on this page: http://www.geocaching.com/press/
  14. Sounds like a blast! but I'm all tied up this year...
  15. Why does the entire state of Colorado have just one standing thread, while the small (but wonderful) city of San Diego has at least a half dozen standing threads?! where is everyone hiding?
  16. who said 5/5? seeing a cache and not being able to reach isn't "logging" a cache Sorry my mistake on the 5/5. IT would be just like finding a cache and the log is so full you can not sign it. I found a cache once that the log was mush and there was no where to place a new log. Still logged it as a find and the owner had no problem with it. If someone has a problem with it, email the owner and tell em how you feel. If they contact me and tell me to delete my log, or they delete it, so be it. You brought your story to this thread, making it open to opinions. My opinion is that I disagree with logging it under those circumstances. In this case you could not get your hands on the container. Example: If I placed a magnetic hide-a-key container 30 feet up on a lamp post, showing up and seeing the container is not "logging" the cache. ...but it's between you and the CO. In this game, you can play by whatever rule (guideline) you want.
  17. who said 5/5? seeing a cache and not being able to reach isn't "logging" a cache
  18. I have a tag only for a white jeep, if someone knows where I can get another white jeep toy???
  19. We're planning a vacation to summit the fourteen 14ers in the San Juan Mountain range, Colorado, this August. Similar to this guys trip...

    Wherihike

Ok I'm getting interested... (even if I can't integrate the experience with my Laser Tag helmet) I like to hike, alot. Can I map Wherigo caches into routes for various hikes and trails? How would you recommend making 'wickets' for advancement on a Wherihike cache?
  21. I'll go buy a Garmin Colorado as soon as it integrates with my Laser Tag helmet and gun, allowing me to see a Heads Up Display (HUD) as I run through the forests shooting digital squirrels...
  22. If the guy was whining about a cache being against regulations (guidelines), then I agree with you. ...but he was whining about the danger factor!
  23. It was a 5 star terrain cache. Delete your own log.
