  1. As someone who lives, and walks daily in a large city, I have really enjoyed the urban micros that I have found! I luckily live in the only large N.American city without a Walmart, so I don't have to worry about the notorious Wally's micros. All of the micros I've found, or that are on my to-do list are in small parks, historical areas, waterfront piers, etc... Worthy places where 'the container fits the area'. I always enjoy reading the logs from tourists who were able to enjoy our beautiful city by going to the spots that people who live here think they should see. It comes down to just following the same rules that are suggested for EVERY cache... find a worthy spot, use the right container. Then we'll all be happy cachers.
  2. Robespierre, I think the distinction between in the bag and not is a good one. I'll go by that, unless I have super duper swag on me. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply, I appreciate it! BTW, it was a Kootenay Pirates token, so if any of you guys are reading, this is a really nice token.. it felt great in my hand, but it's still there!
  3. I found a cache tonight that had a personal wood token in it. Is this fair game for trading? I left it, thinking that it was the kind of thing the cache owner might like to claim. On the other hand, if this IS fair game, it's the kind of thing I would prefer to trade as it's a little more collectible than the toy my 2 year old decided we should take. What are the guidelines/common etiquette for trading signature items? Thanks
  4. If you don't have Google Earth, you're missing out! It's an application that you need to download. (To find it just Google 'google earth') Once you've downloaded it, you can download a geocaching plug-in, which you will find on the right toolbar of your profile page that will show all the caches in an area... like in the picture below. The lower half of the screen is an internet browser that opens the cache pages if you click on a particular cache icon. Click on thumbnail below for the bigger version! I LOVE this app! Is this what you were looking for? edit: oops.. posted at same time as Briansnat... what he said
  5. I am very new to the hobby, and reading your goals has made me feel better.. after reading a few 5-ish page threads elsewhere on the board, it is reassuring that people DO care about finding and hiding quality caches. My goals. To use caching to get me to interesting places. To answer the question, "What can we do today?" with an activity that may require packing a lunch and wearing sunscreen. (or rain gear!) To find the most interesting and coolest caches in my area. To eventually hide a great urban, non-micro cache. And to be a responsible cache owner. Thanks for this thread.
  6. Here is the first BC cache! Conveniently located in Vancouver. Treehugger
