  1. My favourite container would be a 20 liter bucket. I have never found anything much bigger than about 3 liters but I have hidden one near to my house. Very nice and big.
  2. They are very nice ideas. I picked one up near Edinburgh last weekend and placed in my nearby Travel Bug Hotel in hope that it will find a way to get to Ikongo, Madagascar. It's an awful long way there though.
  3. There's a topic discussing the problem on the Geocaching.com website forum so you might like to add your complaint there: Search locations MrsB You're not the only one. It doesn't accept ML12 6SQ, ML12 6RT and several others.
  4. Hi, In my caching bag there is, A Small Really Useful Box full of trades A Poly Packet (With Board inside) containing spare logs and my personalised log stickers A bag of gripseal bags A torch A small screwdriver A small set of pliers Spare Film Canister Sometimes I can load it with snacks and water for long treks too. The bag is an old Swiss Gear Bag. It's a bit tatty now but it holds what I need it to hold. Love the profile picture by the way, I deal in lego on a hobby site too.
  5. I was unlucky to find GC2EEE6 empty the day I stopped by the reception but it is a neat container.
  6. TB Hotel's are not pointless. I own one (GC4G3KB). It is currently sitting with 3 TB's in it. I often put a TB in it when I pick one up elsewhere. I pass it most days anyway. I own 27 other caches, some of which can contain TB's from time to time. I also am a nominated maintainer for 4 other caches in the area and 1 of those can hold TB's which is currently holding a geocoin which is in memory of someone I actually knew coincidentally. I think putting TB Hotel in the title attracts cachers with heavy pockets far from home to place TB's there.
  7. There is caches at: M74 - Abington Services (Search ML12 6RG) M6 - Tebay Services N & S (Slight walk up service road) M6 - Killington Lake - (Slight Walk) M6 - Burton In Kendal - (Slight Walk) M6 - Forton Sevrices N & N - (Slight Walk) M6 - Charnock Richard N M6 - Keele Services N M6 - Stafford Services N M6 - Hilton Park Services M5 - Strensham Services N & S Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. Also, Depending on where you are in Scotland, If you leave the M74 at J12, You can follow the Old A74 (B7078 & B7076) and pick up 12 caches. The Old A74 is wide and suitable for Caravan Cachers.
  8. A nice place to go would be Loch Tay. There is over 100 caches up there including a nice couple of hill walks. I haven't been personally but other local cachers have enjoyed it.
  9. So if those are accurate to about the 10th of August. I own 10% of the caches in South Lanarkshire. Wow. It seems that Haggis&Psycho own 25% of the caches of East Ayrshire. Mega.
  10. Caches in central Glasgow could well be disabled during the commonwealth to prevent a security scare but placed out of town, there is not an issue.
  11. My Idea would be to expand the concept on the old A74 expanding further up to Douglas placing 7 caches between Douglas and Abington and one new one between Crawford & Elvanfoot and replace caches that have been archived due to ill-maintaince between Elvanfoot and Beattock. The main issue is time really. The Haggis Highway from the Edinburgh area could be expanded down the A702 to Abington. I have always thought of hiding caches in a couple of the villages of the A702 near to Biggar so that could work. Not all of these caches were Micro's. There would be a mix of small and regular too. Maybe a large cache might pop up near the end of my driveway in the coming weeks. The main idea is to target the tourist routes as they will be most commonly used. And by the way, I did hear of Mega Scotland 2014 and I will see if anything comes up.
  12. Also, Some caches on main routes could do with so maintenance.
  13. Hi all, You will all be aware that the commonwealth games are coming to Glasgow in 2014 and I feel it could be the best year for caching in Scotland next year. So what I am thinking is quite a few new caches on roads that are likely to be used on the way to the games by lots of people and hide a mix of drive-by micros and some larger and harder caches too. I am hoping that some other Scottish cachers agree so we can work together to create a popular place to cache during the games next year. Please reply with any comments and suggestions you have.
  14. Hi all, I am expressing my interest in adopting GC1ETRV 'Hide and Secret' which is 7 miles from my home location but about 0.5 miles from my work unit. It is in desperate need of maintenance but the CO has not been active since August 2012 and does not have a validated e-mail account linked to it so there is no way to contact him. I have read before of the adopt a cache scheme but that only works if the CO is contactable. I would like to hear your responses to this. Thanks
  15. I upgraded my year old laptop to IE10 on Sunday and it has caused problems on geocaching.com only since then.
  16. Hi all, I am wondering if there is any cachers in my local area of ML12/ML11 0. I have seen a car parked in someones drive way in a village near by with a geocaching logo decal on it. I think caching is great. Kind Regards, GilkerscleughCachers
  17. This is a link to the cache in question: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=fac65a0c-1144-48a8-8ef9-b71707933a37 I have contacted the CO to see about adopting the cache. If I adopt it, I would probably just restart it following what you said. Just being quite new to Geocaching. Thanks
  18. Hi all, I am reasonably new and having browsed and experienced cacher's caches found list, I have found a cache which is perfectly fine but was archived by the CO. I think the cache would be a good cache to use. It seems to be well hidden. Can you bring it out of the archive pages or not. Please help. Kind Regards to all readers, GilkerscleughCachers
  19. I have only found one at the moment and i put a collectable lego minifig in it. I had a small box of GoGo figurines and have decided to use those as swag. I had the idea of trading cards but they might get ruined by damp.
