  1. And maintaining a cache that isn't mine I call Karma. If I couldn't check my own caches I would hope there was someone out there like me that is willing to help.
  2. The Appeal of adopting is that you love what the cache stands for. Whether that's a play one words or the history or the symbolism of it. This cache represents a whole lot to me and I have recently spoken to someone that says that the owners have quite a bad reputation in regards to the maintenance of their caches. Why not have new and old. The history of the Cache can be just as important as new ones. This is for the hunt. There are many cachers out there that may yet have a chance to find it and I think it only fair to keep it alive for that reason. I am currently talking to a person that is going to try the owners for me. Hopefully they get a response. If not I will NA and repost it. Same as it is for those who have yet to find it.
  3. Public park. And it's a natural area that we live close to.
  4. Well I have put the cache that we completely overhauled due to disrepair on our watchlist to keep tabs on whether or not it needs maintenance again. So I see it all. There are other cachers in my area that have gone to it recently and have messaged me many thanks and to praise us for the work that we have put in(most knowing that we have done this before) We don't really care if our name is on the cache we just want the owners to know. We are just unsure of whether or not the owners are in fact getting the message that others are doing their work.
  5. Well we have become known as the cachemedics in our area. We look at the caches that we are going for and then look at what the logs say. If there is anything that we can fix then we prepare for it. Whether it be a new log to a new container.
  6. So a little while ago we were caching and came upon a cache that absolutely needed TLC. So we took it home(posted it of course) and fixed it up. We contacted the owner and told them of what we did and that it was replaced in the same spot. After doing some research I would like to adopt this cache as it would be easy for us to check on. But the cache owner is unresponsive and I found that many of their caches are sitting in disrepair. We could adopt many of them but not all as there are many all over Alberta and BC. I know that it needs to be requested from the owner but is there another way? We would hate to see the work that we are doing for so many caches for everyone else go to waste by having them archived when they really don't need to be.
  7. Call me computer illiterate if you must, but I can't figure out how to get gpx files to transfer to garmin etrex 10 (direct usb connect to pc). Can download files to basecamp but how do I get them to show up onthe gps unit? Chances are it's as simple thing but I can't seem to wrap my feeble mechanics mind around it.
  8. Update: when I try to send to gps, site doesn't detect plugin but I know it's installed and enabled.
  9. Trying to send coordinates from main map screen to my gps but it won't let me search for device or anything else. I've tried downloading the driver several times but situatioin does not change. The unit is a brand new Etrex 10, micro usb connetion direct to PC. Any ideas would be helpful.
