  1. Hi, I think I have the same model. Once you master the buttons and how to input co-ords it'll serve you proud! Put me 'on top' of over thirty caches in a couple of weeks so far! Just be mindful, mine was an ex mod one and had obviously been used else where in the country for a long time. When I first got it, it was putting me off the cache by about 100m, finally figured out (VIA GOOGLE) how to do a soft master reset and hey presto, it's working!
  2. Hi, I only started a week ago and have 10 finds under my belt so far. Not doing too badly considering the snow but could do with some hints for a pesky one in Horsford if you're up for it? Also good to know you're there as I go on! Cheers, Ben
  3. For what it's worth...I only started caching last weekend (in the snow) and have racked up 10 finds so far. There's still plenty of snow on the ground in Norfolk which makes looking under bushes etc more difficult but it's definitely not impossible...I'm hooked!
  4. Thanks to everyone who replied, I tried it this morning and it took me to the right spot! Didn't find the cache under the snow though, but definitely the right spot! Seems the master reset worked.
  5. Hi, That's what I wondered but to check it today I read the co-ords from the way point I'd entered into the Etrex and plugged them into my car sat nav and hey presto...it took me to the cache! I'm hoping it'll work tomorrow or I'll be asking for some money back!!
  6. Hi, sorry only mentioned the metric units to be thorough! It's definitely set to WGS84 and Decimal minutes.
  7. Hi, I recently bought an ex MoD Garmin Etrex (yellow one). I have tried using it to find a couple of caches (that I already know where they are) and it always takes me about 100m off the mark. I know there will always be some inaccuracy and things like satellite reception etc can affect it but this seems a bit too inaccurate. I've just done a master reset to see if that fixes the problem but won't be able to test it until tomorrow so was just wondering if I should do anything else? The units are metric and it's set to WGS84. Thanks in advance.
  8. I tried it but it didn't work! If I mark a waypoint with it, it will then navigate back to that point perfectly but is approx 150yds off caches that I know the location of....argh!
  9. Hi, I've just had exactly the same thing! Bought a second hand unit (ex-mod) that arrived the other day, went out to find some caches and was consistently about the same distance off each time. My sat nav put me straight on the caches though! It's been outside for 20 mins so far (using previous posters advice) so will see how it goes!
