  1. Yes, trolling, as you have already been accused of here. Would you like links to the posts made by various people accusing you of trolling (to refresh your memory)? Now go find another forum to troll.
  2. Wow, all that talking about how I should read your post and follow the links, yet you didn't even check the link yourself (if you did you would see that the forum is now gone). How do you feel? I bet not man enough to admit your mistake and take back all your wisecracking, huh? Grow up, stop acting like a know-it-all baby. You're not here to decide what someone should read and learn about, Fuhrer. Now lose the attitude and stop posting here, your trolling is unwelcome. My attitude from the beginning was pleasant and polite, and I got no results. If you were able to read you would clearly see that. The only change in attitude was after the 4th time I was told what was best for me, by people who apparently don't know what I am looking to do (splice into the antenna wire, not into the GPS itself). READ COMPREHEND THEN POST. Or better yet, stop posting altogether.
  3. Thanks for the link, however it's not what I am looking for. I do not want to use the OnStars GPS as that link instructs, I only want to use the antenna for my own GPS. I thought that was clear in the four times I asked. This would require no more "hacking" than two wires to be spliced, if it's possible (that's why I asked here, apparently a bad choice in forums). BTW, thanks for all the resistance from all you guys, definitely appreciated
  4. I don't want an aftermarket antenna, I am interested to know if somehow the OnStar antenna can be connected to a Garmin GPS unit.
  5. I might buy a Nuvi 350, if I do I will have to go thru the process at that link to upgrade it to v8? Or will it come with it already? Also, since the Nuvi has the map built in, will it update without a problem?
  6. I've been doing more research and it seems as if the Nuvi will only cost around $100 more than the Nuvi 350 on average. It seems as if there are a lot more options as well as the bigger screen on the 660.
  7. Alright, great, so my assumption was correct. Now where do you guys buy GPS's for a good price?
  8. Costco has 36 Duracel batteries for $11. At that price it wasn't worth the time and hassle to recharge batteries. Home Depot has similar sales. However, I only used the unit for 10-15 hours per week, if you use yours a lot more then rechargeables make sense.
  9. Is the extra screen size worth the extra cost of the Nuvi 660? I ask because the screen size is only really bigger in width, not height. I would think the extra streets and such you could see on the side aren't all that important, at least not to me while navigating. Having extra screen "real estate" in front of you is more valuable IMO, which is why I like the GPS V and 60C series. So... Forgetting about the other "options" that the Nuvi has (such as picture viewing, etc.) and thinking only about navigation, is the extra screen size of the 660 worth it? Discuss!
  10. I would like to sell my Garmin Quest, it works perfectly, the only reason I am selling it is to purchase a unit with a bigger screen. It is in great shape, it never left the car (no hiking or Geocaching). I used a sharpie marker to paint the top of the antenna black so it couldn't be seen at the top of my windshield, I'm sure the marker could come off. It comes with the Mapsource City Select NA software with full unlock code, home power adapter and cradle, car power adapter and cradle plus suction cup, USB cable, software, and both Mapsource and Quest manuals. $300 plus shipping. Please e-mail me with offers for fastest response.
  11. Let me just get this straight. I am in the USA so the Nuvi 300 and 310 are out of the question, correct? What's left is the Nuvi 350 and 360 which only differ by Bluetooth on the 360, is that correct? And coming out in October is a Nuvi 660 which just adds a widescreen? Is all of this correct? If it is correct, I would be looking into either the 350 (since I don't need the Bluetooth that the 360 has) or the new 660. Where could I buy them the cheapest? Thanks!
  12. Do you happen to remember where those hacks were? Thanks!
  13. Instead of "modify" I should have said "cut a hole in my roof". I don't want to have a wire draped to a spot where it could enter either. However, that's not what this is about.
  14. Hello, I have a Garmin Quest, it gets good reception but it could always be better. Before buying a $70 antenna and modifying my truck, I wanted to see if the OnStar Antenna on the roof of my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer could be used? Does anyone know anything about these antennas? Would it be possible to use it for my Quest? Thanks!
  15. I can't agree with that. I don't mind downloading maps, I can fit enough on the Quest even living in NJ and NY. The Quest 2 doesn't give you Mapsource, which is a big downfall in my opinion. For all that extra cost, it should give you the software. I have a Quest2 and I simply called Garmin Tech Support and they were more then willing to send me the Disk for Free! I use it to plan trips on my PC, then transfer them to the Quest2. If you want the disk, just call them, they'll send it to you. I know of other Quest2 owners that got theirs free to by calling Garmin. Now that changes everything, I didn't know you could do that.

  17. That is really a great idea, I never would have thought of that. It's too bad that Garmin couldn't turn it into a specific feature, but fortunately there's a backdoor for us. As for batteries, I certainly will never do a Geocache that takes more than 20+ hours on foot to complete.
  18. Is there any way to enter coordinates into the quest and have it route me there? How about the GPSMAP 60?
  19. The limit is 2025? For comparison, how many maps are there for the US?
  20. How do you avoid certain roads on the Quest (and do the other route customization that you spoke of)?
  21. I was wondering if anyone used a Garmin Quest for Geocaching? I am totally new to Geocaching, but I have been using GPS's for a while now. I used to have a GPSMap60CS but I sold it for the Quest since I felt is worked better for me in the car. Now that I found interest in Geocaching, I was wondering if it would be wise to go back to the Garmin 60 (especially one with expandable memory)? I remember my 60 having a Geocaching feature, but I'm not sure exactly what features it gave me above what my Quest will, anyone know?
