  1. You can do this with a pocket query. Set one up to list the caches near you (use the "From origin" with your home coords or home zip code), and for "Placed during", select either "the last week" or "the last month", depending on how many you want to see. Clicking the "preview" button for this PQ will display the distances from your specified locations (nearest ones first). Thanks for the answer. I do have pocket queries set up and that is a nice feature. Mainly, I want to see it daily. Pocket queries are set to come in weekly... that's OK, unless you would like to be obsessive like me and would love to get 1 FTF Also, it would be nice if we were going to go on a drive (outside of my query range) to do a quick check. I know this is possible in other ways, I do them. I just thought there would be a simple solution to an issue that I found troublesome. Thanks again, ksmif This reply reflects a common misconception. Let me try to help get you to where you want to be. When you create a pocket query, you can "preview" the results of the pocket query using the "nearest cache" page / search results page live on the Geocaching.com website. You do not need to order a GPX file or even check a day for it to run. So, click the "preview" link for a pocket query of new caches near your home area, and look at the results. Then, bookmark the URL for those query results. Return to it as often as you feel like checking for new caches. The search results will indicate the distance of each cache from the centerpoint coordinates. Hope this helps. The Leprechauns, You rock. Thanks, those buttons have gone over looked by me... I will start using that feature more! Ksmif
  2. Yea N9PPA!! I agree with you
  3. Have you tried Insta-notify? Yes... I like it very much! But I don't want to set up notifications for the whole state of Oregon. It's really no big deal, I'll just keep doing what i'm doing. ksmif

  5. I had a similar question, but recieved no replies... I'll try here. I would like to go to the "Newest Caches" in Oregon and have a mileage shown.... Is it possible?? Thanks!!
  6. Hi there, I love the site and find it very easy to navigate except for one feature... When I click on "newest caches" and in my case... newest caches in Oregon... the distance from my home coordinates are not listed unless I click each cache. Is there an easier way? Thanks! ksmif
  7. Hey Boggywoggy, so we're on for tomorrow night right? We'll need flashlights, drysuits, kayaks and enough food for 4 days. You're scuba licensed right? OK. Obsessed? Who you callin' obsessed? But really, tomorrow night. I'll tap on the window, they'll never hear us leave. We can roll the Volvo out of the driveway and hop in down the street. I'll bring enough plastic bags and clean wipes for dirty shoes and fingers... so no worries. My lists are made.... are you ready?
  8. My daughter and I are out finding caches today and having a great time : ) Cloud cover is heavy, but no issue at all. I think the trees and my possible "hovering" may have something to do with it. Also, I was in the tree canopy at sunset...hmm...?? Thanks for all your input... I'm afraid I'm hooked! ksmif
  9. Thanks for all of your speedy replys! I was wondering if I needed to hold the gps level, or upright. I have the yellow basic etrex. It is in black and white, but I think it will be fine for me... at least for a while. My budget doesn't allow for a more expensive device... anyway, it adds to the adventure : ) Thanks again, ksmif
  10. OK, so I've looked in the search items for this topic and I know it must have been asked before, but I haven't found it... so, I'm sorry in advance! I have just purchased a not very high-tech gps system (an etrex.) I did find a cache today and it was very fun... but, it was overcast today, so I think that may have contributed to the difficulty I had. The cache I found was not the one I had set out on. The cache I was looking for was heavily covered with a tree canopy, and my unit would send a message saying "not enough satellite juice" or something similar... does this happen frequently with other units, or did I purchase a gps that won't help me? thanks, ksmif
