  1. Why not make a Micro Cache Icon that would show up on the search results page for those who do not like them...... and those that do. This might stop some griping on the forums.....
  2. Well I guess I am dumber than I thought. Run the advanced search and then open each one of them and see which one is horse friendly..... I am back to my original question... I'd like to be able to search and filter by horse friendly caches...... (without having to open and look at each one) Why not show the attributes on the search results page?
  3. I'll give that a try. Thanks
  4. I am no computer wiz and I really don't need more software on my PC.... Just put something on the site that will let me search by attributes....I'm simple... Make this simple... Search by zip codes, search by city, search by nearest.... why not search by attribute?
  5. I ride horses as a hobby and I have combined yet another thing with my riding....caching. I’d love to see a search routine added to the hide and seek feature of geocaching that would allow a person to search or caches that can be hunted by horseback. I know there are icons that can be added to show that horses are allowed but it would be nice to be able to filter by this attribute or others. If I have missed something please enlighten me....
  6. I have to agree, It's fun anytime as long as you go prepaired. Don't go in the winter time in your bathing suit.......
  7. A phone number would work....... Got one?
  8. I was looking for a way to contact Groundspeak but it looks like they have hidden the E-mail address because of heavey trafic. How can I get an answer to my questions from the horses mouth.... I know, ask the horse... Well If I could find the horse I would.
  9. I am relatively new to this sport, but I have noticed something in the few finds that I have made. The contents of the caches are nowhere near the worth of the original cache. It looks as though the rule of swapping for things of equal value is being ignored by lots of folks. Now, I'm not in this to gain anything so normally I don't take anything other than travel bugs. In the beginning I would read the contents of the cache I was going for and take things along of equal value only to find nothing but junk to trade. SO I stopped taking anything and only leaving things like batteries or insect repellant wipes (Things that a normal hiker/camper might use or appreciate). One of the caches that I was going to find had a CC silver dollar in it originally but in the visit logs it showed that someone had taken the coin and left a rubber ball and a plastic army man......... I would have liked to have seen the silver dollar but I would not have taken it because of the value, but it could have been enjoyed by many people. And now my question... Is this the reason for having members only caches? So that it is more likely that the rule will be followed? I have some things that I am sure lots of people would enjoy seeing but I would hate to think that if I put something out there in the general pubic that it would be replaced by a McDonalds trinket........ I know there is risk of losing nice things but wouldn't it be fun if everyone followed the rules?
  10. My dear sweet wife made mine. Ive used it for several years and it still looks like new. It also hold my compus in a little pouch on the front....
  11. Guess I'll have to pay my dues then.... And BTW, What the heck is Hamstercaching?
  12. If you run up on a cach that has more than one TB should you take them all to help them move along, or should you only take one and leave the rest for someone else to find. I sort of make it a quest to find them and help the TBs move along....
  13. Combining this with my other hobbies would be loads of fun. Camping, riding and caching might be a good combination. ANyone else doing this? How would you identify the caches that can be hunted from a horse?
  14. I guess we better go see what the man has to say!
  15. These things are really pretty easy. Just turn it on and it does most of the work without you. You may want to hook up with someone with some experiance before hittin gthe trails alon with it. Oh, and a word od avise; Don't forget your compus...
  16. When you stop working on the house you are building because you want to help a TB move along.....
  17. I'll see if I can find that one. We had a pretty good day today. I took out this morning intent on finding the one Mico Cash that had eluded me.... Found that one (thanks to my wife) so we decided to look for another one at a near by lake. My wife again spotted that one.... Not to be outdone we treked through the woods to the next one about a mile away and I found that one. We had a great time walking with the dogs. We found some beautiful rock formations along the way and some great views of the lake, not to mention the load of ticks. But we really had a great time. My GPS seams to be right on the money now but I found that not all of them are where they are supposed to be....Hapy hunting y'all
  18. Thanks for all the very good help with this. I have reinitiated the unit and checked for all the settngs metioned in the above post and it seems to be right on the money now. I'm headed out to find the one in Depew in just a little while. I'll post another note when I find anything....
  19. THanks for all the help. I'll give those suggestions a try and get back to this after the week end. Happy Hunting.
  20. I went to a location that someone else had found and had taken a picture of their GPS with the same coord called out for the location. Mine showed to be off by about 11 minutes. I figured I probably have something set wrong...... It repeats it's self very accurately but to get to a given location..... I'm not real sure it's doing that... Check what datum you're using. It should be set to WGS84. I checked that and it's set to WGS84 as a default. Maybe it is giving me the right information and I am just looking at it wrong. I'll have more confidance in it when I find one of these things...... I tride cheking it with a benchmark and if the mark is in the right place, I've either got something set wrongor it's doing something wrong.....
