  1. In the long run making your own coin out of your pocket can be worth more than selling it. I sat down the other day and calculated some figures. Before I had my personal coin made I had spent over 1000 bucks and had about 80 coins to show for it. Admittedly some of them were duplicates. I had my personal coin made in a run of 150 of which approximately 30 got put in caches and I have traded just over 100. I still have some left. The cost of my personal coin was about 400 bucks less than the amount I had spent previously. However I have managed to trade for about 110 unique coins that if I had bought would have cost me me more than I spent making mine and some of the ones I traded for can't be bought anyway. So when the figures were crunched I ended up with more coins for less money by making and trading a personal coin. In the long run I would suggest this would be the way to go. And I mean absorbing the cost and trading for coins rather than selling it so you can buy more coins. It may work the other way for some people and I admit it's not easy forking over the cost of making your own coin but it pays off in the long run when it comes to building your collection.
  2. I would love to see this one made. I can already think of a few ways to use it for events and caching games.
  3. I like it. Count me in for a couple via trade or purchase.
  4. I like that.. lol I ran into a few trees like that today. Count me in when you set up the order.
  5. How about I send you a picture of mine?? At least you'll have something to look at until you get one.
  6. I'm going to be missing the sale tomorrow because I'll be at a caching event. Anyone care to pick up a couple for me or failing that anyone care to trade me for 1 or 2?? (insert smilie for pleading and begging)
  7. I think because I realized what i said had already been said...
  8. I have to have some of these. i'll even come down and pick them up if i have to..
  9. I can see the amount of traffic on the forum dropping drastically.
  10. I've received trades both with and without customs forms on the mailer. I don't think they are necessary unless your local post office requires them. I know for most of my stuff going to the states I don't need a customs form. I would suggest you just mail it as you would if it were going to somewhere in the states and if they ask you to fill out a customs form put 'token' and a value of $0. Call it a gift if you want. I have rarely had customs open anything and the ones I have had that arrived opened were ones where there was a value on the form.
  11. Sigh, does no one have a ROT-13 for trade??
  12. Have I got a deal for you... If they dont' want it back I'll trade ya..
  13. Are we talking about the same coins when we say "GD Mystery square coin" and "Groundspeak Project coin"? I got the round and sqaure coins from GD himself. Yep. I call it the Groundspeak Project coin since the square one doesn't have the GD on it. I picked up my Mystery coin in a cache and trade him for the square one.
  14. This is the sort of posting I wanted to see. Thanks! Ooooops... should read before I post...

  21. Those look great. Definitely have to pick up one when they go on sale.
  22. I guess rarity can be a measure of how hard it is to acquire a coin. Coins like those mentioned above are hard to find and most people would love to have one in their collection. Most people will never see one. that would make them rare by most peoples definition. On the other hand a coin put out today with a qty of 100 minted will not be rare until all the coins are spread out and no one has more than one. Then the people that are looking for it will consider it rare for sure.
  23. If you make up a personal coin and sell it you may recoup your expenses but your collection won't be any further ahead. If you make up a personal coin for trade only you will end up with a lot more coins in your collection, many of which you would not be able to get except thru a trade. (unless you have a lot more money than I do and haunt ebay) I think there was a thread a while back for people who only had their coins for trade and not for sale. Gonna have to find that.
