  1. One group should start talking on their GPSr like it's a cell phone. Then the other group will come over and say "D'ya think we're flippin' idiots?"
  2. I think this is a great idea. I think it should be limited to North America (at least to start, or else they might be spread too thinly; maybe someone could use this model to start a game in other places). What would the teams be? East vs. West pops into mind first, but North vs. South could be cool, too. They should be color-coded, I think. You would probably have to buy TBs in bulk. I would start by deploying a bunch of soldiers to the proper locations and stick a "flag" in a centralized cache. Whichever gets to that cache first wins. Afterwords, you could post a variety of missions for the soldiers to accomplish based on the positions of other soldiers (for example, several soldiers in a cache could be POWs that need rescuing). You could either act as a general and assign missions or just let people choose which one they want a soldier to pursue. I think your idea is really cool and I'd love to help out if I can. I hope my suggestions are useful, too.
  3. Whay can't foreign money be in a regular cache? Seems to me that it would be a cool things for kids to find. I agree whole-heartedly, by the way, that parents are sheltering their kids way too much. What's wrong with a cocktail recipie card? In fact, I think that'd be a cool idea for a series of caches.
  4. As I understand it, all electronic devices create a bit of low-powered radio interference that affects a very small area; I don't think a GPSr is any more dangerous than a CD player. In the event that the interference reaches the VOR antenna (which is extrmemly unlikely in a large commercial jet) AND happens to be affecting the particular frequency the pilot is using, it's not going to cause the plane to fall out of the sky. The instuments will read as if the plane was right over the VOR transmitter, which the pilot will know is clearly not the case. Even if the incorrect reading leads the pilot to turn towards the VOR location, the reading would remain consistent no matter how much manuvering is done, clearly indicating a bad reading. Besides, aren't airlines mostly using GPS for navigation now?
  5. If you do that you could hide a bottle of wine/glasses at a set of coords and let her find that! I like this idea. Make it into a creative multi. Find a nice, easy cache and stick a note in it with a clue to get to the next "cache", which would be wine glasses and another note. The next one would be a bottle of wine, then a picnic basket, and finally someplace to enjoy it all (a nice view, some food, drink, each other's company). I think I might try this one myself.
  6. I use a Treo 650 with a Holux GPSr and CetusGPS. When I do paperless caching, I use my girlfriend's laptop with Watcher and Google Earth as well.
  7. Does the Creed say that ? Sorta, but I think it uses different wording. geocreed.info Look farther down, it says it verbatim.
  8. Seconded. (This is my first post; I'm not a troll, I just came on the forum to suggest the same thing. I do hope to become more active on the forums if I can find the time)
