  1. SORRY !!! Wrong address. Here is the right one: http://palmsource.palmgear.com/index.cfm?f...re&prodID=29696
  2. Kids or anyone else for that matter using channel 2 is the price you have to pay for using a FREE PMR frequency, they could just as easily happen to choose channel 3-33 on any given day, though I admit less likely. Nevertheless I think we should use the official channels, 2 and 8 as the primary/alternate listening/calling channels, as aRRKS pointed out not all PMR’s have sub channels ( I thought they had but obviously they don’t ) then when contact has been made by all means change to channel 3-33 or any other channel, otherwise what’s the point in having a faq page on GC.com stating what the official channels are if everyone is using a different channel? Alternately we could scan all three channels to see if anyone is in the area, my radio doesn’t scan but it would be no big deal to flick through the channels every now and then. The main thing in my opinion is that we always listen in to channel 2 and 8 every now and then regardless of what channel is chosen in this forum just to see if there is anyone out there.
  3. Here are two for Palm users amongst you, I think they are also OK for Pocket PC’s. I use ‘GeoClipping‘ http://users.adelphia.net/~rschoolf/geoclipping.htm to copy cache page to my Palm m515 PDA and ’Geocaching Hint Decoder’ http://www.freewareppc.com/misc/geocachinghintdecoder.shtml to decode hints in the field. I first found these on GC.com but for some reason they are no longer there.
  4. I think we should opt for the GC.com channel 2 as people who don’t read the forum will not be aware of the other channel if you choose to use one. Once contact has been made you can then change to another channel if channel 2 is too busy.
  5. When in the field I always listen on channel 2 as decided by the geocaching community. As yet I've had not contact with any other cachers in my area (North East). See: http://www.geocaching.com/faq "Do you have an FRS/PMR channel to find out if other Geocachers are in the area?" The community has decided on channel 2 as the primary for both FRS and PMR, and 12 as the alternate FRS (Family Radio Service) channel and 8 for the alternate PMR (Personal Mobile Radio). Here are a couple of links that may be of interest. http://www.delboys446.co.uk and http://www.446user.co.uk/index.php
