  1. I would think you would get permission BEFORE violating the Terms of Use, not after. If they do not respond as quickly as you like I suggest you wait a little longer. there are more things going on then just your violation of the Terms of use.
  2. Cathy I am sure there will be an offer to help. Cachers are good people. if someone in Junction City Kansas would like to check on this cache I am sure the young lady and her husband would be very thankful. Note: Ill ask a mod to help move it.
  3. ;)Oh Well Excuse-Me....................... out here in the west Tee-shirt, Polo shirt one in the same............ Maybe in Yuma, In Tucson there is a big difference.
  4. By licensing the access - with queries from within (instead of page scraping), doesn't the bandwidth problem go away (or at least greatly reduced)? And, that allows GC to eliminate sites that are still scraping while still working hand in hand with those sites that do provide a service to local comunities. Can you give us an example of a site that is now having problems?
  5. But where do the hamsters fit in? There are always some parts of the description that are left out for security reasons.
  6. Since Signal is a copyrighted image you might want to ask for permission to modify the image.
  7. I would think that what works in Colorado might not work in Germany. You might get better information by asking at a local cachers meeting where you live.
  8. Nobody can be so amusingly arrogant as a young man who has just discovered an old idea and thinks it is his own.
  9. How bad do you want it back? if you send a prepaid envelope you stand a better chance of getting it back
  10. I'm going with the classic didn't read/believe the guidelines option. Like this one: Its also 115 feet from another active cache.
  11. IMO they are still in the guidelines and still a part of the site. So they can still be listed if they meet the guidelines. I dont see it being a problem for me as a reviewer.
  12. Some people have a TB that they only use to drop it in and retrieve it from any cache they find. There is a mistaken belief that it will track all their mileage to caches. Its not accurate but it is fun to look at the TB list and see all your caches on it.
  13. Wow, I'm so disillusioned. I may even take your picture down from over the fireplace mantle. Next you'll be telling us that you've never heard of GeoFlurming. Say it ain't so! Geoflurming? Hey I said I was ignorant not Stupid!! EVERYONE knows about GeoFlurming.
  14. you dont need HTML to put up a photo on Waymarking. The ability to post a photo is built into the system. Just follow the prompts
  15. No news/some progress/lots of plans. Now you can stop bumping the thread. Try sending an email to contact@. the person who is responsible for this project might not have seen your bumps.
  16. TOTALLY off topic but for MANY years McDonald's did stop selling Milk Shakes. They sold Shakes instead. The lack of the word milk was because they did not contain enough dairy products to be called Milk Shakes. It has only been recently that they are again being called Milk Shakes and this is not true in all areas. Some areas are still only selling shakes. Sorry but thats a tidbit I had stored in the brain for a long time and finally saw a way to use it. GREAT overall analogy BTW and the milk shake part is totally true for me. McDonalds stopped selling brewed ice tea in my area several years ago. I stopped going to Mcdonalds and started going to Sonic for that reason. (yes I know in the last 6 months McDonalds is again selling brewed tea.)
  17. But the OP wants a second stat that says how many of the total hides are currently active. Thats the part I dont understand. I dont see how it would matter if I hid 100 and 46 were active or if I hid 100 and 2 were active. I had still hidden 100 caches. As you stated total number of hides is already avalible to anyone that wants to look at a profile.
  18. Maybe you should ask Buxley??? Ah, I see you don't know either. Lap's been around long enough to give you a complete answer. It would truly suprise me if he didn't know. However to actually answer your question, It's a GPS game. Check out gpsgames.org for details. Be surprised. I didn't know the answer nor did I care to learn. I pointed the gentleman toward a good source of information to answer his question. Nothing more, nothing less. Some people interpret brevity as something else. thats their problem not mine. My statement was simple and factual. Actually I am surprised. Anyone who would be a leader in the geocaching community should know what geodashing is even if they don't participate for many of the same reasons that they should know about letterboxing even if they have never found one. Because you are a leader in the geocaching community I made the mistake of assuming you knew more than you did. I apologize. Ouch! perhaps I should have said that I did not feel that my level of knowledge was to the point of providing a concise and correct explanation. But ya know what? I have never been asked to list a Geodashing thingy. It hasn't prevented me from doing my job here. Sucks when you find out your idols have feet of clay, doesn't it? I shall endeavor to be less human and more perfect. I never assume a leader or anyone else for that matter knows everything. I have always made it a point to admit when I don't know something. Its safer. Sorry to have let you down. I hope you didn't lose any sleep over my human foible.
  19. No it wouldnt. ok maybe to you but not to me. the reason i suggest this is that it is more of an accurate representation of the cache hiders current cache status. some cachers have 100+ hides but only a handfull are active. i beleive it is an idea with merit, not just to have another number. How is the number of active caches an indicator. I know a cacher in my are that had 23 caches archived through no fault of their own. So they are suddenly less of a cacher because of that? Am I less of a cacher becasue I archived and picked up my caches when I knew I could no longer maintain them?
  20. No it wouldnt. ok maybe to you but not to me.
