  1. Keeping it would be bad, moving it is what they are all about!
  2. Mopar its the standard deal, They keep asking a question till they get the answer they wanted all the time. I seem to remember a pony was involved.

Because it is currently not a feature of the software. That is a direct answer to the question you asked. Bumping a thread every day isn't going to get you an answer any faster. The Gang at Groundspeak do have other things besides the forums to deal with.
  4. "Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?"
  5. Lets forget the Music industry and look at the Groundspeak Terms of Use. So it really doesnt matter if you like the music industry or not. You can not place copies of copyrighted material in a cache.
  6. Im sorry what part of this guideline are you thinking makes it right?? Unless you have expressed permission from the land owner AND you have cleared it with your reviewer you can NOT bury a cache. "Thats the fact, Jack"
  7. I took a little vacation and I got behind. One of the other reviewers is helping me and we should be caught up by Sat at the latest. Thanks for understanding Michael
  8. Nope, the post above yours says that it has changed and Change is a good thing
  9. Yet another reason to be a premium member. There are programs like watcher that will let you sort a PQ by direction.
  10. I got one too, but it didnt come from the Geocaching mail bot so there is no way to complain to Geocaching. Check your headers before sending it to GC.com if its not from their mail system there isnt much they can do. Michael
  11. That is fine for more experienced cachers who realize such information might be available in past logs. In this case that information is on a whole other page of logs, plus it is encrypted. What's up with that? Its not like naming an access road is going to give away the actual cache location. I just don't understand why a cache owner doesn't want to provide parking coordinates, or street access information. Its a hunt. In real life you hunt 2 ways. Head out on your own with a buddy or two, or hire a guide and go that route. In caching its much more of the grab a buddy and go out on your own. There is no requirement to list anything but the final coords on a traditional cache. Its just the way it is. Some people want you to be able to walk right up to it and some want you to work for it. Both ways are fine. Just don't do the caches that don't give you the information you want. you are not forced to do them.
  12. Then there are those that really don't want any information at all. If you see a cache you want to try for and feel you need more information, try emailing the owner and see if they will provide it for you. Some will, some won't. Thats the way the game is played.
  13. When I worked in Social Services the Director of a center told me that they tracked 'events' and noticed that things got wacky three days before and three days after a full moon. The next one this month is the 22nd but the summer solstice may be an added factor. I think the director is mistaken. Isn't it things gets crazy the week before and the week after the NEW moon & the week before and the week after the Full moon? Shirley thinks it is the resonances from all the large earthquakes causing synaptic interference. Now where's my aluminum hat. John right here!
  14. Hey, why don't you let the moderators handle it? Gee I don't know, Since as a Forum Moderator you don't seem to understand the concept it doesn't seem that leaving it to the mods is such a good idea. In addition, while i am not currently a forum mod I still am a member of this community and entitled to my opinions. It's interesting that your first reaction is to do the exact same thing that is being complained about. Just because you are ONLY a forum mod for the OT forum does not allow you the privilege of flaunting your disrespect in other forums. It is a policy of the forum mods that they be on their best behavior in ALL thread when using the account that has moderation powers. Since we all know that forum mods can and have correctly used the ability to moderate or suspend peoples posting right is ANY forum. Even those they do not normally mod in. So don't lecture me until you chose to start acting like a mod with this account. Practice what you preach Back to the topic, forum members have changed their avatars to fit a theme on many occasions. It has never been a violation of the TOU to do so, even when the theme is a particular person. I recall the first "CarleenP Day" when several forum regulars used her exact avatar (except me, since I edited a saxophone onto her shirt). Everyone involved had a great time and changed their avatars back to normal at the end of the day. We've done many other theme days, quite a few to celebrate birthdays of other geocachers in the forums. Smurf Day, Tractor Day, Flamingo Day, etc all happened without anyone waving the "Terms Of Use" flag. In other words, Lighten Up Francis! Since we are talking movie characters I am reminded of Stallone's Character "ROCKY" he managed to succeed without really understanding what was going on around him. Take your own advice Sax.
  15. This topic was not meant to raise anyone's ire. And it is definitely not an attempt to harass, embarass or otherwise disturb my friend, Keystone. As you can see, I didn't even steal his avatar, it's just very similiar: My stolen image. Keystone's avatar. This topic has to do with geocaching as much as the other topic refrenced in the OP, the one Keystone defended when someone suggested that it was inappropriate. Knowing Keystone's sense of humor, and his apparent appreciation of the other thread, I believed no real harm was being done. The original post was designed as an example of how easy it is to become confused with changing avatars, and to point out that we seem to be a little sensitive about our own identity. One of the great things about geocaching is our community. The community is made of parcels with which we identify. Avatars (and signature lines, as well as the obvious screen name) are our marks. Without them, we would just be unknown masses. I am changing my avatar back to it's original. I believe my antics have made my point. Although it is really confusing now, I will leave the topic open for the angsters and moderators to sort out. Gee you didnt steal the image????? you say in the thread title that you did. You call your image "My stolen image" (quotes added) seems to me that at this point you are backtracking and trying a little damage control.

  17. This is a topic worthy or the OT section or a PM or Email. It really isn't about Geocaching or Even the web site. It directed toward one person and that person is a Mod. Seems you could spend you time on something better than just trying to annoy a mod and fellow cacher. Then again no one has ever accused you of integrity so I guess I just answered my own question. I still believe this is better suited for Email. Another issue is that intentional or not there are those that will see the Avatar and assume it is Keystone. Especially if they see it in another thread. This is a violation of the Terms Of Use. I direction your attention to section ( Emphasis mine.
  18. In the main forum list you will see this. If you click on it you go to it via a Java client. Or as said above you can set your irc prg to the listed settings Its pretty much manned 24/7
  19. Unless they see it here or you find someone that knows them you are out of luck!
  20. Sorry about your mom but Virtual caches are still being listed. Please dont continue to spread this mistaken belief, I listed one a few weeks ago. OT I know but I hate that people keep spreading this bad information.
  21. Gee I guess that means they cant afford that new server now that you dropped your membership.
  22. If somehow they knew what approver handled what area they could do it. Even that isn't so simple. RK has it right. A "your number in line is X" feature would have to be tied to a particular reviewer's queue, in order to be meaningful. But, the review queue is organized geographically, by country and by state or province, where applicable. And, to complicate matters, reviewers often share or split their territory within a country, state or province. People back each other up during vacations. Reviewer assignments change regularly as new members join the volunteer team. A numbering system would lead to inaccurate conclusions like the following: You are #1 in line for the State of West Virginia. Simple, right, since I'm the only reviewer for West Virginia? But you may be in for a three-day wait, if I've just trimmed the queue down to zero before taking off on a geocaching trip. Catch me when I return, and someone who's #8 in line will see their cache approved within hours, while #1 waited three days. You are #26 in line for the State of Pennsylvania. Yikes! A long wait, right? Maybe not. Two reviewers share Pennsylvania, with temporary help from a third person. Assume I'm the slowpoke, and I have 20 caches to review on the Western side of the State. You could be sixth in line for the faster reviewer to the east of me. You are #19 in line for the State of Ohio. Dang, that Keystone is really a slacker, isn't he? Well, what if 12 of those are caches that are just waiting to be listed in conjunction with this weekend's events, and four more are complex multicaches and puzzles? Your simple tupperware in the park could really be the second one out of those 19 to be listed. Once again, if this proposal were adopted, Jeremy would need to program in the reviewer territories and keep that list accurate. For me, the programming would look like this: IF STATE = Ohio BUT NOT IF Latitude < N40.5° AND Longitude >W83.5° OR IF STATE=Pennsylvania BUT NOT IF Latitude < W78° OR IF STATE = West Virginia THEN Reviewer Queue = Keystone [/b] Repeat that for all the other reviewers, and update it weekly for changes. Weekly?????????????? I remember a recent flood and another power outage that required updating twice in the same week for two different reviewers. The point is. ITS NOT EASY, no matter how you look at it. Not all good ideas can be implemented. Sorry.
  23. OLD news and its not in your state. its ok
  24. Its been done before. Just proves there is a sucker born every minute.
