  1. Katydid & I have a joint accout. We have never done what you gave as an example. I believe it is OK to do it if we were so inclined. Granted, our number of finds won't ever stack up to an individual doing the same amount. It is afterall a hobby. MS
  2. Having a membership is also one of the requirements to being selected as a reviewer. And once you're a reviewer you don't have to pay as one of the perks. MS
  3. Came across this thread while doing a search, and thought it deserved a BUMP.
  4. Have you considered placing the log in an offset that could also be large enough for travel bugs? Oh, that's the same thing lovesumdove suggested. Duh...
  5. When you submit a cache, add this to the reviewers note: I've noticed you're taking much longer to approve caches than in the past. I've got plenty of free time on my hands and am certain I can do a better job than you. Who do I talk to about getting your reviewer's job?
  6. If you're willing to fork over the bucks for airfare and accomodations, why not set up a cache series with a large purse for the winner? Done well and with the right amount of treasure, you may draw more than you expect. Before I'd hop on a plane for all those bucks, I'd need to know for sure that the purse was indeed real, everything is on the up-and-up and it's a safe part of the world to visit. Ultimately you may have to be the one that travels to do the caching. Good luck! MS

No response to a more recent request a month or two ago. Thanks for your help! Katydid
  8. When you: -have met at least 5 cachers on the trail. -have at least 3 caching buddies. -have the phone numbers of at least 2 cachers you can call if you need help while looking for a cache. -attend at least one event. -don't worry about the trade any more. -enjoy the thrill of at least one FTF. -maintain at least 1 cache. -have a geocaching bag ready to go at all times. -realize it is better to give negative feedback or advice about a cache directly to the owner. -wonder if you need to buy stock in a battery company. -most importantly, enjoy the adventure. A great lady (Katydid) once said, "It's all about the people." Once you fully understand this you're there. MS

  13. During our first attempt at this 4.5/4.5 night cache,Shroud of Shadows, Katydid and I aborted. We were well over a mile from the car when I fell in a bog at a chilly 25F. It's amazing how quickly hypothermia can set in. One of the cachers shortly after us had to call the paramedics for assistance. MS
  14. We started a cache series to encourage people to get out and take longer walks. You need to walk about 43 to 47 miles to complete the series. The Biggest Loser - Final MS

  17. Leatherman's Loop - a cache series in CT & NY is taking shape. Check out the New England forum link. Two caches in the series have been placed and more will come. We welcome your help. Thanks, MS
  18. I've been reading the ideas for GW4, and am planning on implementing a similar program for the Geo Jamboree. I have a few questions. Why the tickets? Have you found that many people take more bugs than they bring? And if so, if there are so many leftovers, what's the big deal? Any plans or ideas for special "sought after" bugs? I know of one bug that will be raffled off at a local event because it is sure to be desirable. I know of other bugs that have been passed "under the table" at events because so many want their hands on them. I'm also still interested in more discussion about how to handle the massive amounts of coins that are sure to fill up the event page? For instance, 50 cachers brings 10 coins each and pass out slips of paper (or share their coin #s) with 50 other cachers to log them in and out of the event... egads Thanks for the sharing of ideas. Katydid
  19. How about Don't Do This Cache! and Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg

  22. Even though you've found only 5 caches, if you have to ask then you'll likely never find an answer that satisfies you. MS
  23. Sleuth..... Thanks so much mizdeeds! This is great, we like it alot!
  24. Some of you may be familiar with the legend of Leatherman that traveled through E New York in the late 1800s. For those interested, please see the NE form thread: Idea for a new cache series. MS
  25. If by chance you do provide hints prior to the FTF, I believe you should post it on the cache page so all have the same opportunity. It is best to also do it via an encrypted log note so all on the watch list will get an email copy. On the other hand, there's noting wrong with letting them suffer a while. MS
