  1. My belief is that Bulli the wonder dog is the highest ranking canine geocacher. Bulli!
  2. I've never geocached with a gun. I personally never will, as far as I know. I don't know how you got the idea that "you guys" carry guns. Maybe some do. Most of us, probably some huge majority, like 98%, don't.
  3. A great one in this style is Too Many Secrets. I can't give away much more here, but it totally rocks in it's use of technology!
  4. Nope...they never did. And yep, it is Friday. Bret Whoa. Friday. Dude! Like, excellent.
  5. Ok. So I have a new question, while we're on the subject: Did tb's, benchmarks, etc, used to count as finds in your grand total? I have some recollection that they used to count, but stopped at some point, but I wasn't paying attention enough to remember clearly.
  6. There's one here in Nashville that's a Kroger grocery store. Lots and lots of trade items, but it's not quite as simple as your average ammo can... SafePlace
  7. I find the insinuation that I or anyone else is padding the numbers with false logs somewhat offensive. Go look at the logbook for every single cache I've found and my sig is in there. (Setec Astronomy doesn't count.)
  8. Hi - long time user, first time caller. Actually hit my first snag with the program. I have the latest version of gsak, registered, and use it on a xp box. The problem is exporting some records to cachemate. I also have the latest version of that, I think, also registered. I've had no problems doing this in the past, and have exported many databases from gsak to cachemate with no problem. I'm traveling to the Seattle area to geocache next week, so I got 2 pq's of the area, which should cover me pretty well. First I tried combining them in gsak, and the thing (1000 records) wouldn't export - rather, the conversion ran fine, but the hotsync wouldn't complete - it hung as soon as the cachemate pdb started loading. So I tried splitting the job up - and the first half loaded up, all 500 caches. No problems. So I try loading the second half, and the same problem. So I'm guessing there's some record in that pq that's causing some sort of problem. Maybe. Any ideas? Edit, a few minutes later - I found a workaround , using the cmconvert program that came with the latest version of cachemate. So the problem is solved, at least for me, for the time being.
  9. I have 4 that haven't been found yet. And they're easy urban micros.... ...wait a few more hours. I only hid them this morning....
  10. Hey! I'm on that list - I must be famous. And here I thought I was just a legend in my own mind...
  11. My advice about Atlanta in particular is to get a guide who can go with you. Traffic is nuts there, and sometimes (often?) there are less than obvious ways of getting places that your garmin won't pick for you.
  12. Just forget about it. Let it go. Don't get yourself in trouble about it. It's just a kid fooling around, and it's just a cache.
  13. Congrats, Fly46! I'll be by sometime soon, looking for obscure magellan accessories.
  14. How many times have you had to explain yourself to the police? Have you ever lied to them? By 1K, I would wager that most if not all cachers have had to deal with the local authorities on occasion.
  15. I hope you're exaggerating. Exaggerating by 37 sq. miles. For shame! Ok, I'll admit that my figure was 1.825% high if you will admit that your accusation of 37 square miles is 1.334% higher than the actual exaggeration of 36.506 square miles. Picky, picky. It still means I have to drive a long way to get my next cache when many can bag more in a single day than my total for the past 6 month. But then again I might be exaggerating by a couple of percent. Sorry about that. Did the math in my head, then posted, then redid the math on a calc and saw that it was a lot closer than I had originally thought. Doh!!
  16. That's way too much to pay for a mericolor. For that much, you can get a garmin 60c/cs, which has a much faster processor, a better screen, and other much better cooler stuff.
  17. 512 within 12 miles. But this is Nashville, so they're all lame.
  18. Because it costs money that some people might want to spend elsewhere? Why do you care?
  19. As a ftf hound, and I've got a LOT of them, my advice is to not rely on pq's for the latest hides. Instead use the state page for where you're at, and do a lot of local networking. If you keep your ear to the ground, you might find out about new caches before other people.
  20. You don't get it. Yet. You've only found 19 caches. Find several hundred, and see if you still feel the same way. I almost alway take nothing and leave nothing, but I almost never sign my log TNLNSL. I can usually find something positive to say. Not so. The main experience is finding the cache, enjoying the trip, the location and the hiding technique. Physical prizes are the least memorable part of the experience, at least for me. And I'm certainly not robbing anyone else's experience with my visit. Good for you! Sometimes I happen to have something along with me that's tradeable, but most of the time I'm not that organized - that's the joy of paperless caching - getting out and looking for caches when you happen to be in the neighborhood of one. You play by your rules, I'll play by mine, and we'll both be happy. Don't try to suck my joy out of the game just because I'm not playing with your rules. There's room for both of us. I'm glad you took the time to vent. Don't you feel better now? And maybe you can see another side to your position!
  21. Dang! 2 whole pages and not one single list of lame caches! I'm disappointed in y'all!
  22. There are good micros, and I like doing them.
