  2. Greetings, amigos. Even though a lot of San Diego area cachers came out this way for Padregirls cache-a-thon, we would like to invite you all to the Palm Springs Cache Event held on Saturday, March 27, at 9:00 A.M. GCHXTW http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=123037 If you have not been out to the desert for a while, you will find that there is a ton of new caches. We will be hiding more in time for the event, and will have some event specific caches as well. This will be a fun event! Looking forward to seeing old friends and fellow geocachers... PALM SPRINGS CACHE EVENT UPDATE: We have added 3 special event caches and 4 traditional caches within 2000 feet of the event location that will be activated the morning of the event. That is in addition to the 25 or so traditional caches we have placed in the area in the last 2 weeks or so. This will be a mega cache baggin' event! Weather guessers predict partly cloudy, slight chance of rain (yeah right) and highs in the low 80's. Come on out before it gets too hot for normal humans! If you have a chance, map out all of the caches in 92262...you'll be surprised how many are now in the Palm Springs area. Best regards, Daryl & Jamey La Quinta, CA

  7. Regarding the Palm Springs Cache-A-Thon... As everyone knows, some geocaches are located just for the sake of a cache, with no redeeming value otherwise. Some are the type that bring you into a cool area 'that you would have never seen without geocaching'. We would like to make a suggestion that if possible, you plan to go to the San Andreas Crevasse Cache. This is really a unique area, and we're sure you'll enjoy it. GC93D http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=2365 Best regards, D&J

  17. After a recent find in an alley complete with gang graffiti and crack houses, I wanted to put this in the log: WITHDYPACH...AYOD "Why in the hell did you place a cache here...Are you on drugs?"
  18. Just yesterday I built a cache using a USGI Decon Kit container and added a homemade ghillie suit to it made of shredded burlap...and I thought I was being original Best regards, Daryl
  19. It does not make any difference which brand of SD card you use.
  20. I can't speak for most geocachers. What we do is use magnetic on the GPSr. When you get close to a cache, and you have the bearing and distance showing, before the GPSr gets all erratic you just dial in the same bearing on your compass and follow it with no correction necessary.
  21. Mils is what the Military uses for directional bearing. If I remember correctly, there are 6400 mils in a circle. This allows for a more precise azimuth. It is just a substitute way of using degrees. True and Magnetic...True North being straight up on a map without the magnetic declination applied, magnetic is with declination...Probably a better more in depth answer is available though Best regards, TEAM Nohoch
  22. Learjets and an Aerostar 601P Daryl TEAM Nohoch
  23. Just remember to shut NMEA off when you need to upload and download waypoints now, as you can't do it with NMEA on... Best regards, Daryl and Jamey TEAM Nohoch
