  1. I too, have never felt comfortable looking for caches in private yards even if the CO says it's ok. So I usually avoid this type of cache.
  2. If you're referring to the country souvenirs which appear on your profile, they should be awarded automatically when you log a cache.
  3. Use IE instead. That's what I do. You can still use Internet Explorer.
  4. Help Center http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php Help Center → Hiding a Geocache Hiding a Geocache http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.book&id=19 Geocache Listing Requirements / Guidelines https://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx 3 Steps to Hide a Geocache of Your Own https://www.geocaching.com/play/hide Hide A Geocache submission form https://www.geocaching.com/hide/planning.aspx B. "Good ole" Pup Patrol. Took the words right out of my mouth. Has been helpful to me in the past. Bow down before the master!
  5. Lately, I've noticed a few duplicate logs on my own caches. Perhaps this is the culprit.
  6. That would have been a helpful link if I could read Dutch!
  7. Not sure. But you can always list the event time in your cache description.
  8. I wait 2 days. If the CO doesn't respond, I log it. CO can always delete log later if not satisfied with the answers. You won't miss your souvenir if you log the correct date you found it.
  9. I didn't mean they were "moved" to Waymarking.com, but that new virtual caches were no longer allowed on geocaching.com and are now on Waymarking.com. I agree that the site is not as appealing as the geocaching site.
  10. They were moved to Waymarking.com which is similar to geocaching and is also run by Groundspeak. You can use your same geocaching user name. Check it out.
  11. I may be sightly addicted. I've got 17 so far, 5 in about 45 minutes. (181 caches found.) As long as you're addicted to something that's not illegal or harmful, so be it. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go feed my popcorn addiction!
  12. 35mm film is going the way of the dinosaurs. The containers can't be far behind.
  13. Got everything all fixed. Thanks again for the help.
  14. I agree. That is pretty much a basic unit & I would shy away from it for beginners. It has no maps, which can be very helpful when geocaching. The units mentioned by the previous posters are much better. I use a Magellan explorist 110, which cost me $130.00 in the U.S. Check out the Magellan website, www.magellanGPS.com, they have many quality refurbished units for much less than the cost of a new one.
  15. My friends request is turned on. The problem must be on his end. I shot him an email explaining how to make sure his is turned on. Thank you for the help. I'll post if we get it straightened out.
  16. I recently introduced a life-long friend to geocaching, but when I try to send him a friend request, it says: "I'm sorry, this user is not currently accepting friend requests." He is experiencing the same type of difficulties trying to friend me. What gives? Thank you.
  17. Exactly. My post may have been slightly off the topic of OP.
  18. According to the geocaching books I've read, co-ords are supposed to be as accurate as possible. What about CO's who unintentionally provide wrong co-ords? I just found a cache this am placed by a newbie and the co-ords are off 200 ft. A couple of cachers who managed to find it posted the proper co-ords, but the CO cannot/will not update them, even though it's been two months and other cachers keep pointing it out. There are still a few cachers who don't read the logs first and waste time looking for it.
