  1. Custom made coins can't be traced through GC.com, you have to make your own website and programming. Another option is wooden nickels, not as cool as metal, but a HECK of alot cheaper. I've giving "M&M Hunter" a try, his nickels look nice, and are cheaper then anything else I've come across. If I'm happy with the work and price, I'll post a follow up on this thread.
  2. Yes, I know about most of that, but the guy that is going to make the coins up for me has all but said he wants to hear it direct from Jeremy. So, if it's not too much trouble, I know he's one busy dude. Thank you very much for that email addy though, I will try that route now that I know.
  3. do you mean replace the Find and DNF smileys with Signal smiley's? Because I would think that would be awesome. Maybe have the find with a big thumbs up, and the DNF Signal crying or something.
  4. I am attempting to make the most difficult cache in my area, maybe the whole province. And I want to make a nice little keepsake for those that actually find the cache. I was thinking of using a wood nickel (since coins are too fricking expensive!) with a couple lines of text and the GC logo, or a modified one that's in the outline of the province of alberta. I would like permission to have these made, if Jeremy will give it. The coins would not be for profit, only as keepsakes, and only a couple dozen would be made. If permission can't be granted outright, is there a compromise that can be reached?
  5. is that kind of like trading a 50 for two 25's?
  6. The problem I'm running into is that I don't need hundreds of these coins, just a couple dozen maybe. So for me to pay for a die, and have at least a hundred stamped will cost me 300+ dollars. It's just not worth it. Can anyone point me towards a cheaper option? Making my own, or another cheap token to give away in a cache?
  7. I know some local caching associations they make their own coins for tracking. I was wondering how they do that? Is there a cheap way to get them made, or make them yourself? If so, what process?

  9. One that isn't ultra tough, like a mountain climb, but it does show some neat areas that most people wouldn't see and most would love to explore and visit. The excessive sweating and mud and bushwacking wouldn't make it on tv I suspect, but a nice visual might, like a hidden creek or waterfall. And even if the bushwacking did, I would think alot of the lazy bums that sit at home watching tv all evening wouldn't be interested.
  10. I don't mean to flame or get pissed off, but if something like this, especially after all the finds you have, makes you quit geocaching, then I don't think many of us will miss you. Caching is about the outdoors, the hunt, the sport of it, not about html or wrong backgrounds. Those can be fixed, those are no big deal. I would even happily help you. It's like cutting off your hand to fix a papercut on your finger. If you do actually quit, good bye, if you want help, I'm here for you.
  11. My screen name isn't two personalities, it's a screen name represtative of two people, me and my darling dear. And since I don't allow her to have a personality, only one personality belongs to my name.
  12. Thanks, I'll make due. For an idea though, maybe you could put in some scripts on the cache edit page that counts down your remaining letters? I've seen that several places and it's really helpful. I did manage to skim down the text and fit one last sentance in, so I'm golden, thank you.
  13. The box I want to add more text too is the main box, which doesn't have that much, other caches have alot more. So is it amount of letters, or number of lines on the screen after the cache page is generated and displayed? Or could the first text box, the intro box, have too much (even though I never got an error message before, and thus when I add more to any box it errors out?
  14. I tried to edit my cache "The Famous Beale Cipher" and add one line to it. But when I submit the changes I get this error page.
  15. Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that he refers to himself in the 3rd person? I'm starting to wonder if Hugh Jazz is his screen name, or yet another personality.
  16. What I found funny was that "GPS is a natural extension of Christ the King" Am I the only one not seeing the natural extension? GPS really isn't a natural anything.
  17. I know that alot of people take thier dogs caching, but does anyone take their cat on a leash with them while caching?
  18. a DNF is always frustrating, especially when you aren't sure if it was taken or not. But that is the game, geocaching would be so incredibly boring if all there was was drive up caches. It's the variety, puzzles, camo, multi's, etc that make the game fun.
  19. is there any purposed solutions so that we can have moving caches in the future? I love the idea, and if we can overcome them and get moving caches back, I would adore that.
  20. Maybe that is why it took so long; they tried to have a life outside cache approving, so Jeremy punished them in the stockade
  21. I hid mine the same day as yours, and it was finally approved this morning, the 10th. As much as I hate waiting, let's face it, these guys do this for free, and they have alot of caches to wade through. In canada there is only 2 reviewers total. I don't know how many there are in the States, but it's not city by city, it's state by state if not region by region. My guidlines, if it's not approved in 3 full days, I'll email the reviewer. However, that hasn't yet happened. Being that these guys don't get paid, they do a good job. As much as I wish they could approve caches the second they are submitted, I guess we can allow them to have lives.
  22. It has been well established by the scientific community that time is relative. My watch will differ from your watch. The states that cause such time differances have so far been theorized as being from near light speed travel and extreme gravity. However, I have discovered another means that can bend time; Waiting for cache approval!!! It seems that time slows down quite measurably depending on; how excited you are about the cache placement, or how long you've spend working on the cache. These are proportional values, so as they raise, so does the time distortion. I am still discovering the exact equations that govern this new law of time, but I have had some success with: T = EW Furthermore, I have found that time will slow on a curve, with the first few hours going faster then a couple hours on the third day. This is not in the equation yet, but according to an unpublished equation, half way through the 5th day, all time will stop.
  23. Puzzles are so wide and varied that it's tough to answer your question. Basically, I look for a puzzle or encoding scheme, and then try to get a method of gettting numbers out of it. Examples: 1. Counting the number of letters on a crossword puzzle. Certain letters when counted become a part of the coordinates. 2. Using something like "Beales Cipher" you can create a list of numbers that spell out the coordinates one letter at a time. So, as long as you can figure out a way to get numbers out of the puzzle, you can use the type of puzzle.
  24. What I was wondering, if you post false coordinates for your puzzle, does that count for the .1 mile limit too? Or can you place a couple of them close, if not right on top of each other.
