  1. Me and a friend were wanting to make a Canadian cache and wanted to place it around/in maple trees. I wondered if anyone knows of any could they post the co-ords here? Preferably within 15 miles of lower earley, reading. Thanks for all help. Lotho
  2. You don't want to pinch ideas, but you are asking us for our favorite existing cache hide to get ideas for yours. Kinda don't make sense.
  3. Rechargeable=pricey, but last a long time. Un-rechargeable= Cheap, will keep going after the rechargeable have gone flat.
  4. It will be cool, but i doubt you will even get it more than 1000 miles in 80 days, still, it would be a fun one.
  5. "This product is not available to view. " Oh dear.. well nice try anyway =P
  6. Yeah, there were 2 of us there at the time, the third was the other side of the park. 10-12 Of them, its a shame they didn't try it in a smaller group really, or i would of disciplined them. Why did my post get edited? it said a non rude word for peeing and now it says peed which has the same meaning and is also not offensive..
  7. I had a run-in today. Was caching with 2 friends when some chavs come up to us, saying meaningless insults and such. It was a step too far when one of them peed on me. You lot had any pleasant meetings?
  8. If i wanted cool cahce container i would go there. This is for cache containers youve never seen before and made by yourself so you can tell other how to make them also.
  9. Ok, ill get up close pictures and pictures from around 10ft away..i would say they will be on here in a round 30 min. Check back then. *EDIT* Ive added the pictures to the original post. 'Shrooms from close up 'Shrooms from further Pipe meets foam I had 2 more pictures but its throwing a hissy fit about dynamics in the or something, so those 3 will have to do.
  10. Ive made this topic for people to post a unique cache holder they have made themselves. Please say how you did it and what materials are needed. Please use this or a similar template. Name of product You will need: bla bla bla Method: bla bla bla Heres mine. Mushroom/toadstool micros. You will need: Some sort of foam(denser that packing foam) A small knife with teeth/small saw White paint(or another color to mimic surrounding mushrooms)Hollow Plastic plumbing type tube(size depending on how big the stalk is going to be on the mushroom) sealant(silicone preferably) Hot chocolate powder (cocoa) Sand(glass) paper Method: First of all, cut a square out of the foam. The size needs to be relevant to the piping that will be the stalk. Then cut a bit of the corners off and shape the foam into a rough dome. Sand it down until you are happy with the shape. Now, cut a piece of foam and bung it in the end of the tube which will go into the ground. Push it into the tube slightly and seal it with your sealant. After thats dried, push the tube into the flat part of the dome. It should now roughly resemble a mushroom/toadstool. Now, paint the pipe and the foam with your paint. *NB:spray paint will dissolve the foam making it not your original shape* Now, to make it look more natural, gently tap the cocoa onto the wet paint to give it a speckled effect. Leave to dry. A few hours later, the mushroom should be ready for use. You can(depending on the size) fit a pencil and log in there for a micro cache OR For a stage of a multi, place the clue/coordinates on a piece of paper and place inside the tube. It should now be waterproof and ready for the Geocaching world. When you get to the desired site, push a bit of the pipe into the ground to stop it from moving. You may want to make a note of this in the clue so they don't come back with a DNF. You could partially conceal the mushrooms so muggles will not chance upon them. Now, write your designs! Dont feel you have to write an essay like i have though.
  11. I mean, like you out in the coordinates and it tells your your are 20 metres, that sort of thing?? Just curios because im getting a etrex yellow as my first gps soon.
  12. Me and a freind started a multi where we needed to go to a sign to get details to finish the co-ords. We had the sign in our sites, only about 20 metres away, with only a small hill in the way, he assumed he could ride over the hill, but there was a ditch the other side. Landed on his head and could have been ALOT worse. He cut the top of his nose which was the worse injury, considering he went into a ditch on a bike, hit his head on the ground (always wear a helmet!!!), cut his nose and then the bike fell on him..
  13. I found a guys cache in the trunk of a tree, so me and my freind took it home to quickly research it then we put it back.
  14. Woops, forgot to mention im in the uk. Thanks for the relpy though, it helped. Reading is about 40 miles from london. Ive found some easier caches that i can have a go at on the way home from school, which is an interesting prospect.
  15. If if found that in a cache, i would be thrilled. I want to make something similar but with a pattern of my own, would that be ok? Just wanted to ask because you gave me the idea. =) Lotho
  16. Hello, im kinda new to geocaching and i havent even finished one cache yet! Reason being its was a 3 star multi cache and i only found one of 2 caches, the you get the co-ors to a main cache. I havent got a gps and im relying on my knowledge of the local area and google earth to find caches on my bike. My birthday is on the 4th of may and i maybe able to buy a gps with my other freind who started for the same reason as me. Can someone name all types of battery in gps please? Batterys that you can buy in local stores, such as petrol stations/gas stations, such as AA, AAA and such. Also, does this frog have any history in geocaching or is it just a random emoticon? Im only 13 so i dont know if i should get a gps or rely on google earth. If i was to get a gps i do not know how they work exactly so if anyone could give a quick rundown that would be much appreiciated. Thanks alot, Lotho
