  1. All right folks, we're just about to the end with this one... give it a shot now or pay much more for one later.
  2. Two days to go on this sale, and it's still way under $200... Check it out! (PM me for the reserve price!)
  3. Four days left on this - if anyone is interested, get in there and put it on your watch list!
  4. Cachemate gets along very well with the iQue navigation software. I've tried quite a few other caching programs on my M3 and on an M5 and always end up coming back to Cachemate. It seamlessly runs with the mapping, and the voice commands and turn details will momentarily pop up in the middle of a cache search, then automatically go back to Cachemate. I've never found other software that would do that so easily.
  5. I already have an M3 so I don't need to keep this GARMIN iQue M5 that I recently acquired. This is a thing of beauty when it comes to navigating by vehicle to the vicinity of the cache, then jumping out with the iQue in hand and letting it guide you down the trail to the cache! With Cachemate loaded, the iQue seamlessly and automatically switches back and forth from the cache find and the auto nav programs - popping in every now and then to show turns, etc. Anyway, it's like new and comes with all the accessories. And it is priced to move! Here's the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/Garmin-iQue-M5-GPS-Rec...1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. I think my first 50 to 60 caches were found without the benefit of one. I printed a couple of good views from Google Earth and hit the road... that usually did the trick. I killed a lot of trees in the process, maybe thats why I was so eager to go 100% paperless.
  7. I've taken a number of hikes into some beautiful places in search of a cache without ever finding it. Somehow I -never- felt the urge to get out the cell phone to call for assistance in finding the cache... that just seems contrary to the whole geocaching experience. Just by making the attempt I've probably already achieved 90% of the hider's goal, which was to bring me to an interesting or unusual area that I would not have visited otherwise. I think the owner's intent should always take precedence over "helpers" that take the challenge out of the hunt. Ask yourself this... how many times have you gone on a wonderful journey and found the actual cache itself to be a disappointment? Appreciate the overall adventure, rather than letting the "target" be the determining factor in the success of the quest!
  8. I love CacheMate and stick with it even after testing the gamut of other software out there... The only change I REALLY would like to see would be an option to be able to toggle to a full screen compass.
  9. I've had mine for several months and it's a great way to go.... does a great job with voice prompted turn by turn auto navigation to the site, then upon arrival I snatch it out of the dash mount and use it as a handheld to hike to the cache. I've tried most of the software out there, and so far nothing beats the combination of Cachemate and the native Garmin program. Works great! I bought my daughter the same setup and she uses it to geocache in Iraq.
  10. Well, I've answered my own question by now... GPSdash just simply will not work consistently with my Garmin iQue M3. It constantly and inevitably crashes I was so hopeful because of the advanced custom mapping capabilities, the attractive gauge displays, etc... but this is just not worth the trouble if it keeps crapping out right when you need it most. The worst thing about it, you ask? The developer refuses to offer even a partial refund, preferring to just keep troubleshooting this application and saying it "can't be the program's fault - it must be something else" So... to make a long story short: It's a POS and I'm out $30 that I could have spent on Beeline instead!
  11. Well I found out the answer today when I took the charger plug apart and checked out the contents inside. So now I know all about it and proceeded with my installation. If anyone is interested I will share the details.
  12. Okay, thanks. I appreciate your expertise. I'm just wondering why I haven't at least received an email about this... but your explanation helps.
  13. I've recently placed a new cache and submitted it for review. This will be my 15th hide, so I am quite familiar with the process and what to expect. Up until now, I have received prompt reviews, generally by the same individual with the exception of once or twice where another reviewer did the deed. Anyway, this cache was submitted for review 5 days ago, and I sent a reminder yesterday morning. Still no review. Meanwhile, another cache was published by this reviewer last night, so I know its not an issue of vacation or illness, etc. Any suggestions how to proceed? Should I send another email to this reviewer? Or send one to the other reviewer I've dealt with in the past? I mean, it's not a life or death circumstance here, but I would like to see this thing get activated, especially since it has a TB that literally has a key to another cache which others are seeking.
  14. It only takes a few minutes to take a look on Google Earth to see how accurate your coords appear, expecially in urban areas with a lot of landmarks in the view.
  15. NOBODY here is using this software? Okay then. Never mind!
  16. Contact Team GeoBlast through the main web site. He can help you out! Tell him I said so! hehe
  17. I just registered GPSDash2 since it only gives you a -very- short (100k of active data) window of opportunity to test and evaluate it. I've also been comparing Cachemate and Beeline, so my M3 is getting quite a workout... anyway, for the life of me I can not find any way to directly import .gpx files into GPSDash. Interestingly, the web site refers to this ability but the documentation has no mention of .gpx at all. It will import .loc files, but it's kind of a hassle to have to keep converting files every time I reload the device! I'm spending enough time already building custom maps from Google Earth on this application. (which is kind of neat, and along with the nice compass is the main benefits I see with this program. I don't know in the long term if those alone will outweigh the negatives I've found so far with GPSDash. Any thoughts on this? Did I waste 23 euros ($30) on this?
  18. Thanks for the input. I had found pfranc's web site (lots of great info in there!) but I know I cant get a reading off the plug with my meter cuz it's a tiny 20-pin affair that goes into the bottom of the M3. I also have found out that polarity DOES matter, so if I just guess and go for it... there's a 50/50 chance that everything will be fine. Or 50/50 that the M3 gets fried. hehe I guess what I am hoping for is that someone else has cut one of these open and knows that the center wire is copper colored and the outer wire is silver colored or vice versa. That would be nice.
  19. I've got a Garmin car charger and cradle unit that I want to hard wire into my electrical instead of using the plug. I want to make sure I get the polarity right on this, so I'm looking for a diagram or listing of the utility port. I'm sure on the auto hookup it's only using two leads, but I want to get this right on the first try. Any ideas? Additional note: Does it matter if the + and - are reversed on not anyway?
  20. How's the accuracy of the 3600 or the M5 compare to other GPSrs?
