  1. Because my TB was found and recorded by an person who in 5 years has not found anothe cache I de-activated a bug. Now, Can I use the same number on the "copy" tag and re issue this TB?
  2. I thought I posted a reply last night but it is not showing, so if this is a repeat forgive me. I checked my coins, 4 of 5 say 'path tag' and have numbers on them. I have had them for a while but I think I registed them when I found them. The fifth one says EXTAGZ.COM. It also has a number but fainter. Not sure I registered it when I got it last summer while in South Dakota. Any way is it like a geo coin, mine to keep? I plan on making a braclet or necklace with these coins. Thanks for all the help. Summerwinter
  3. I am always stressed by people who do not move on TBs. Now I am wondering if I am doing something wrong when I keep geo coins that I find in caches. I want to do the right thing. Let me know the proper way to do things. Thanks Summerwinter.
  4. I recently got a Garmin E-Trek 25 Touch Screen pre loaded with 250,000 caches. I think having all these in my unit is a waste of memory. Is there a way to deleted a lot of them? And when I load local caches in I can not find a way them in a separate file as I expect to. Am I asking too much? Currently in Lusk WY on my way to Cheyenne in a couple of day. Summerwinter.
  5. I kinda disagree ... I usually take all TB's with me where-ever I go and I dip them into all the caches I visit, but I don't keep people's treasured possessions for more than a few days if possible, though real life does sometimes prevent me from dropping into a new cache for the next person to find. When I first joined the game as a newbie, I had a road trip planned with my daughter from our home in Perthshire to John O'Groats and back via the west coast of Scotland. I deliberately went out looking for TB's to take with us and as a result I held onto a few for anything up to three or four weeks, but every time I logged one as found, I mentioned that I was deliberately collecting as many as I could to take with me ... one owner even messaged me and asked me to pick his up to take with me, which I did, (it had only travelled 7 miles since release, by the time I dropped it, it had clocked up an extra 650 miles) and I finally dropped it in a cache called the road to Applecross. One of the geocoins I found was owned by an elderly person (it was an anniversary or birthday coin) who had released it over 5 years ago but wanted it to travel back to Cornwall ... When I read it's webpage, I sent the owner a message asking if he wanted me to post it by snail mail to his home. He was extremely grateful as both he and his partner had physical problems and could no longer go caching, therefore if it got to Cornwall, they wouldn't be able to go fetch it anyway. There's good and bad to every walk of life ... I try to be one of the goodies and will help anyone in anyway I can, within reason. I don't mind if my TB's get dipped in and out of a few caches by the finder, but I do object a bit when (as is the case at the moment) one cacher (non-premium) has my coin and has now had it for just over 6 weeks (at time of writing.) I've tried offering to meet her for a coffee several times and she agrees, but when it gets to the arranging time and place, she doesn't respond. She offered to pop it in the snail mail and I sent her an address but it never appeared. She even came caching within 1 mile of my home and claimed she drove down my street, but still I can't get the coin out of her hands, last time I mentioned that it wasn't clocking up any mileage and feigned a loss of interest in it by asking her to drop just it anywhere she wanted, which she agreed to, then suddenly it started going visiting lots of caches. I've given up contacting her in the hope that she gets fed up taunting me and drops it somewhere. Though I have noticed that she has held onto a few other people's TB's for a long time then suddenly posts a log saying she dropped in this or that cache several weeks ago ... I suspect owners have moaned at her and she claims do have done so ... Never thought to see if the tb moved on from where she said she dropped it, until now. My personal theory is that when she finds a TB she keeps it, maybe hoping that if the TBO has lost interest or forgotten about it then ... well I'm not one to make unproven accusations, but a lot of people do like to collect TB's, especially Geocoins. Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.

  7. Am I missing something? Since the site was upgraded/revised I do not get my queries sent to my e-mail address. Like getting them that way, can I do so again?
  8. I have been a premier member longer that I have had this GPS, an eTrek100. I uninstalled and reinstalled GSAK yesterday and last night while not on line I opened it up and still had the mess that I had before, not a new version as I expected and the drop down box to change things is still not operating. Shall I take up golf??

    Yuma

Is there any one near Yuma who can help me??? At the rally last weekend I was told the reason the downloads were not going into my GPS was because they were in the LOC mode instead of GPX. No where on my computer or GPS is there a method to change from one to the other. I feel as though this old lady needs a face to face meeting with some one who can help. It is easier to get ahold of me by phone as I only have internet when sitting at McDonalds. 541-554-8004 Yes I am one of those pesky winter visitors,
  10. I thought the best way is to go to a group meeting. Finally I found on in Lewiston this coming weekend. I actually got my GPS to work a bit and found some caches this past weekend but still don't know all I need to know about it. Thanks for the suggestion.
  11. Local meetings are a great way to connect up with folks- search for nearby events to see what's going on in your area.
  12. I bought a new Magellan last month and sent it back when I could not get it to accept and find geo caches downloaded from Geocaching.com. Now I have a new eTrek10 and it is locking up on me when I try to get the set up done. Are there any places where I can get hands on help with my new toys? summerwinter
  13. I bought a new Magellan 510 as my old GPS was not working. I am suppose to download a piece of software from the Magellan website to connect use to load the geo caches in my unit. I can't get that to work. The latest thing is the tech at Staples said my Windows 7 computer is not compatible with the soft ware from Magellan. Now what do I do? Throw the unit in the trash and take up another hobby? I spent about an hour with a Magellan tech a couple of days ago trying to register my unit and get started. He gave up and said 'goodbye; after all that time. Where else can I go for information and help?
  14. I use pocket queries all the time. About an hour ago I got one but had used the wrong zip code so it would not work for todays fun. When I put in another one with the correct zip code I has not come in yet, about 45 minutes later. Why does it do that? Where is my fun for today? Summer winter
  15. What did you move to and why do you like it? And of course what do you wish were different. If I am going to buy a new one I want to get all the input I can find.
  16. I never looked at the number of caches or waypoints loading. The problem is some of them from a location, a mile square or so, will load and others will not. I can't see any difference in them.
  17. Twice lately, in the past month or so, when I download caches from a query I did not get all of them in my GPS. It is an Magellan Explorist 500. The first time it happened was in Yuma when I download some to go cacheing with some new friends. My GPS had none of the ones we were looking for in the area. Embarassing. Second time was in Bullhead City. I wanted to find the one along a particular road where I could see them on the geo-cacheing map but the query of the area, with the right D/T level, still did not have those loaded in my GPS. . It had others so I know I am getting some but not the ones I want. Is it time for a new 'toy'? This one is 7+ years old. summerwinter
  18. A friend down loaded my cache list from my Explorer GPS into her Delorme PN 40 GPS. Then when we went out caching she had caches on her machine that I didn't have on mine? How can that happen? She is more techno advanced than I, but still can't figure it out.
  19. This is a multi question topic. I released two travel bugs in July. The first one was found by someone who must have just rolled under the bush where the cache was hidden, then went on line and established a name and such. Has never gone back to geo caching since that day. The second one was found by someone who only has 34 caches, again that person has never logged any caches since the day they logged in my travel bug. And on the other side of the subject yesterday I found a TB that had a tag on it saying " Please do not keep me.. I am a replacement TB as the first one was stolen. Tracking number MW.....". Does that mean it is OK for me to use my duplicate tags and release the TB again? Summerwinter
  20. Hope some one can help me. When I get a pocket query there are ususally about a 100 caches. When I go through the list and check which ones I want the check marks only hold while I am on that page. How do I get the list to hold all my check marks on all the pages until I get it loaded into my GPS unit. I have a explorist 500 and a newer laptop computer. Summerwinter
  21. Most likely you are running Internet Explorer and it has switched to compatibility mode. Click the icon that looks like a torn page in the upper right tool bar to switch it back. Thanks Don 1, I had to get a friend who know more about computers than me to figure it out, but now I have everything working right. Thank you so much.
