  1. It has been a few years, but I remember Mingo being in a county road right-of-way near a property fence line. I would expect that property owner may to be the owner of the spot, subject to the road right-of-way.
  2. If events are limited to only ticket-holding attendees, I will be selling tickets for all my planned events. I might even consider sending a percentage of the take to HQ. Realistically, I will postpone again (as I have done with two events so far) if any limits are placed on the number allowed to attend.
  3. I'm doing this with all my future birthdays. Just postpone it to next year.
  4. This thread began with a post about a group using FaceTime to join in the finding of caches.
  5. Where is the HQ response disallowing virtual visits to geocaches in the same manner they did with Events?
  6. This is the way I remember from a couple years ago, but it seems my memory has failed, or things were changed. Seems backward to me. Interesting that a T4.5 cache can include the Wheelchair Accessible attribute.
  7. If the Wheelchair Accessible attribute is used, the cache must be marked as T1. A T1 cache does not have to include the Wheelchair Accessible attribute.
  8. You get nothing for collecting or awarding favorite points. They are simply a way for you to tell others that you thought a particular cache is one of your favorite ones, or for finders to leave a mark on your cache that they really liked it. Caches with lots of Favorite Points are usually ones to find when caching in new areas - for me.
  9. Look a couple hundred miles, across the river to your south. There were trails placed for the recent Woodstock that had people bragging about completing 2 loops during their time at the event. One person I talked to at the late-night event told me they completed an entire loop on Saturday, after the mega-group photo that morning. I just smiled and let them feel good about that 'accomplishment'.
  10. I guess it depends on where you are, but there were 19 new caches published near me last week. I have to travel several hundred miles for August 2000. It seems this hobby is all about location.
  11. How do I do this in the free Geocaching app? I haven't found a way to import a gpx file to it.
  12. I remember in 1982 when gas in my home town passed the $1.00/gallon for the first time. I can't remember when I last saw less than $1.00 until a couple weeks ago, on my way home from Chandler, OK. I think it was Ada that had gas for 99.9 cents/gallon. I paid $1.27 in East Texas yesterday.
  13. I'm a mixed up wad pf confusion on this, so I might be caramel.
  14. Just, NO. In this hobby(game), you must visit a location in person to add one to your stats. If you want to chat with others online, do that - but don't call it a Geocaching Event and don't expect a +1 on your find count.
  15. Years back, out Scout Troop formed its own account. The SM used his email as contact verification. The Scouts themselves had their own accounts, with parental approval, for finds and hides were listed through the Troop account.
  16. Why is it that some people think it is ok to call a geocacher an 'idiot'? I find that offensive.
  17. You are getting really good at answering questions from long ago. How about looking at the date a question is asked before you try answering?
  18. I'd like to play high-stakes poker with you. I have a lucky deck of cards just for such an occasion.
  19. I'm quite certain this issue was solved over 11 months ago when it happened.
  20. Then do the virtual chat without the +1 on your stats, if the chatting is important to you. Geocaching involves actually visiting locations, not virtually visiting them.
  21. I wouldn't accept a "I see the container, but didn't sign it" log as a Find. This game has only a couple 'rules' and one of them is to sign the log. As to the real concern, I would be more worried about touching things at the grocery store than a geocache container. More people have visited that store in the day before you were there than had visited that geocache location in the prior week. Go out and locate the cache and log a Write Note. Go back another time when the crisis is abated and sign the log for your Find.
  22. A pity that GS didn't just evaporate that entire thing. Delete the finds (and souvenirs earned from it) by everyone involved.
  23. Hmm. We submitted 19 last evening with no issues. Now we wait for the Reviewer to do his part.
