  1. I don't recall any special settings needed, but was several years ago when I became a paid member.
  2. Texas Challenge happened this year, just prior to local lockdown. That's 18 years and counting. Could it be the lone survivor on that list?
  3. 5 DNF by cachers with a current average of just 84 finds on a D2.5 cache? That seems about expected rate of DNF from cachers with that lack of experience/find count. Methinks that CHS algorithm may need more adjusting.
  4. With the advent and proliferation of the AL and the chatter of them beings integrated into the regular map/app, there is no need for future Virtual rewards, is there?
  5. I log a DNF if I search & don't find a cache. If I believe it is missing, based on hints or other logs, I may add a NM. If it has a string of DNF and no action from CO, I will add a NA.
  6. I'll try to scare up some old pics. Or find the old logs & photo them.
  7. When I open the geocaching map (default to level 14), cache icons are adjacent to each other if the caches are placed at the minimum separation distance. If the proximity were any closer, the map would be a sea of overlapping icons. UGH!
  8. When I open the map page (default to level 14), the icons for geocaches placed at the minimum distance appear to touch each other. With any lesser spacing, the map would be a sea of overlapping icons. Personally, I wouldn't be upset if the spacing was .5 miles.
  9. I vaguely remember a discussion like you describe, but I recall the issue being related to Difficulty ratings. I believe the current Guidelines can be surmised as: All events are D1, while the T rating is reflective of the location.
  10. Basic Members can find and log PMO caches. I found quite a few of PMO caches, including several FTF, when I was a Basic Member. I can see the need to make a cache PMO in certain situations as noted above.
  11. Events allow for some added creativity, and I've done some different things for my Fish Fry events. I have used a three-foot-long catfish pillow, a flounder-shaped platter, a box which held the fish in the store, a fish-shaped poster, among a few other fish-themed ideas. In one cache themed to the "Toilet Paper Shortage", the log is the cardboard center from a roll of TP.
  12. And that fraction of free caches is over 70% in most areas. That's a LOT of free geocaches.
  13. This happened about an hour ago. I had just Archived a cache listing that had several consecutive DNF logs a few minutes prior, and was looking at the New dashboard (ugh!) & saw the New cache owner dashboard (Not a fan of that one either). I checked it out, and saw the issue I described. I checked again just now, and the issue is resolved. I guess the page/system/? needed a few minutes to refresh the status?
  14. Project-GC notifies me of every log edit, photo addition, FP being added or removed for several years now. If you aren't getting these notifications, you must not be a paying member.
  15. I just discovered this on our team account. The Dashboard reported one cache with a Low Health Score. When I clicked that link, the list had no caches on the list. ???
  16. That would be a wonderful thing. I envision a Notifications Page which asks for a point of origin, radius, and has a list of cache types with check boxes to choose the type you want. With a Select All button One as the first option on the list. That would be most useful.
  17. 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive has shown success for me.
  18. PLEASE, NO!!! I MUST be able to avoid all Challenges, those new ones with the attribute, and the old ones without it.

    county search

Project-GC has a county map search function available for paying members of that site. I've found it very useful.
  20. They use the Search function in the forums, so as to avoid the wrath of asking a question that was answered in the past or the wrath of posting a repeat of a prior topic. Some of the old-timers take a dim view of repeated topics - and they are the same ones who take a dim view of improvidently bumping old threads.
  21. I guess I'm in the fortunate group of cachers. I found a series of 19 caches on the 14th. (I'll get them logged soon.) It seems that I will complete the entire promotion when I log cache number 16 of the series. I finished the series of 19 in about and hour and fifteen minutes. I wasn't even trying, and I'm done (once I get the logging finished).
  22. Your email/internet provider may have blocked communication from geocaching.com as spam. Try adding a second email address to your Geocaching account, from a different domain. (Gmail is free) If you get geocaching email on the new address, that will verify the block from your primary email supplier.
  23. I suspect because there are so few like that.
  24. With no mention of Events on the Scoresheet, one could assume that they are not included in the scoring for this promotion.
  25. It seems that with a bit of selective searching, I can complete the Wonders before I complete the trip down Memory Lane.
