  1. Why does one need a +1 on their smiley count to visit online with other geocachers?? Geocaching is about going to locations, not imaginary trips on the laptop.
  2. Where do Weed Eater, pruning shears, and the like fit in the Leave No Trace guidelines we are supposed to follow.
  3. Many have success with the Garmin Etrex series.
  4. The ONLY person responsible for the safety of children are the parents/guardians of those children - CERTAINLY not me when I place a challenging geocache, or ANY geocache for that matter.
  5. I find it almost laughable that people are disabling geocaches during this pandemic. Unless you get out and remove the geocache container when you disable it, you are not going to stop another person from finding it. Most governing bodies are allowing or even encouraging people to get out for exercise. Walking/jogging/biking are cited examples of personal outdoor exercise, and geocachers who want the exercise WILL go out and find geocaches - whether disabled or active.
  6. Why are you disabling all your geocaches? Those of us staying inside aren't going to be enticed to find your geocache. Those who get out to find a cache can still find yours, even if it is disabled. You may as well leave them active.
  7. This search gave me 92 hits for active Traditional geocaches, Regular & Large sized, within 15 miles of Edinburgh. Surely there is one close to your location.
  8. That could be a local-to-your-area way to list a cache without mentioning the business name. I've not seen that in the areas where I cache.
  9. Shouldn't HQ add a post in their own Announcements Forum when they have something important and immediate enough to warrant a post to "social media"? Many of us don't do twitface or instawatch or whatever else, but have settings for following things in the GS forum.
  10. I have an event listed to happen in 30 days. Attendance is expected to be around 30, at least check. The event is outdoors. I will make my decision about cancellation in about 20 days. Things may be vastly different by then, either good or bad.
  11. Depending on the location of your event, clean up the area - Leave No Trace.

    GPS?

    Look at a used Oregon.
  13. I saw somewhere that all AL finds were processed on Seattle time/date - with no allowance for your local time zone/date.
  14. Or if the stage is a 'virtual stage' where info is gathered from an existing object.
  15. It is time to re-treat my clothing for the upcoming seasons. While out last weekend, I found a tick on my hand - in mid-February. I suppose the groundhog was correct, and winter is almost over.
  16. If the prior veerings haven't ran you off from the thread, go to the general area of the city where you wish to hide a cache, and look around. Closely. Take notice of the things like signs, plumbing connections, plant containers, electrical connections, rain gutter downspouts, and the like. I'll wager that you will see something that you can replicate, or augment with a container of some sort.

    Map loading fail

The maps work fine for me on my Windows 7 laptop with the latest Firefox browser. I believe there have been others who have reported some issues with older, no-longer-supported browsers. You will need to give more information about your computer/operating system/web browser to get useful help.
  18. In addition to the above post asking for typed inputs, when searching for "Between" dates, the second date should auto populate with a date no earlier than the start date just selected.
  19. Interesting that the checker on the OP cache page says I don't qualify - yet according to my stats page on Project-GC I have found 18 caches placed during April 2006. I joined 4/17/2006, so should qualify under the over ten years ago portion of the Exception as stated on the cache listing. "If you started caching 10 years prior to the date you signed the logsheet for this challenge, then you only need to have logged a find for a cache that was hidden in the MONTH you started caching" The checker must have some issue with checking in this circumstance.
  20. Hmmm. In my area, I would only need a coin to flip to decide which direction to travel down my road.
  21. And this is a GREAT argument for making the presentation number reflect a FP percentage instead of a raw number. (FP received/(hides - events & labs)
  22. If you log out of the forum, then log back in, you will appear here as a Premium Member instead of a Basic Member.
  23. [Replying to several repeating posts with different artwork.] If GS adds any type of attribute related to cardiac health, there may be negative repercussions. If you label a cache as 'heart healthy' does that indicate you are a health professional? Otherwise, are you proposing the Reviewer make that health determination, or do you suggest hiring a cardiologist who will be approving the suitability of these? Heart healthy for some, may be deadly to others.
