  1. I did not start it over that cache someone else went to my geocache page and grabbed that one. I started it because of a trend I found and the idea came because of my cache "A place to return". With the coffee shop cache which I had no issue with archiving I simply would have liked a email or a maintenance insted of "NA". None the less upon reading the log I archived same day. I will never not find someone cache or not like their cache and archive request it. Also as of recently with "A place to return" a DNF was followed with a very negative public comment. If you want to be negative email dont be public unless it is constructive.
  2. I am tired of hostility. I made my mistakes I applogized. I moved caches disabled caches what ever i could do to make people happy. I have gotten many happy comments from Seasoned geocachers. I am sad to see people going negative again. This is me and my daughters hobbie.
  3. I wasn't referring to the coffee shop (not sure which one that would be), but to The Place to Return. You posted an OM stating the NA guidelines, but I don't see an NA post. I assume you may have deleted it. I just looked at it a moment ago and someone just left another DNF. Unfortunately it looks like you may have built a bit of a poor reputation in your GC community. I understand that sometimes negative feedback can be tough to get and we sometimes push-back rather then try to iron things out. In the case of The Place to Return, your initial OM after a finder said "pushed it too far in" and the next person logged a DNF (March 2015), seems to suggest you looked and saw the original cache and it was there. I assume retrievable. Today you say you had replaced it with a new container (I assume back in March 2015). If it blends in really well or you moved it from where it originally was, you might want to let folks know. Maybe up the Difficulty rating.
  4. I have seen "NA" many times with no need. When I first started geocaching I put needs "NA" when I thought i put Ower maintenance I quickly was contacted my geocacher who placed it with like 3,000 finds and explained the rare times you put "NA" and to give owners a chance because we all work all have jobs familes and such. I feel it becomes a tool of frustration for people.
  5. http://coord.info/GC4NKTQ So less of a discussion more of an attack just saying what I have seen. As far as http://coord.info/GC4NKTQ Already taking down when I get up there Sunday. Opening up that area to a geocacher that wants to put one but too close to mine. I dont mind he asked very nicely.
  6. So you want to bring up coffee shop cache o.k. It was posted needs archived yes technicaly that meets requirements but if one maintenance log or a email saying "Hey someone else bought coffee shop". I would have removed cache A.S.A.P. In fact as soon as I was made aware I archived it as keeping it there and no longer having permission is not legal or right.
  7. So I think the "Needs Archived" is the last resort. There should be many dnf's there should be unresponded to "Needs Maintenance" requests from different Cachers that are not geocaching together. Also with no responce from cache owner. I am finding that when you post as an owner that you checked and its still there people there and they still cant find it they get angery. They then post needs archived. I personaly have one cache I cant find, about once a month I go and look but its tough its there owner says its there. Just because its hard to find and I cant find it I am not going to ask for it to be archived. I just cant find it.
  8. So I have had a cache in place for a long while. Now the area is becoming a bike park. The person that wants the spot tried to have mine archived so they could have the spot. I informed them that was wrong. They apologized but still want my spot for the opening of the bike park to be the first cache while doing the bike trail. What do you think?
  9. I was thing back on my last year geocaching. I have met many geocachers in the field. I liked them all. I have never met one face to face and not liked them. Now other geocachers have told me how hated I am by some local geocachers. I have heard they encourage people to stay away from my caches. Some that hate me I have met and I think they were very nice people. I hope everyone can learn to let go of hate.
  10. Hi, Some love me and my caches some hate me. I have evolved over my year of geocaching. I now understand what was told to me when I was new. I now run the facebook page Geocaching Tacoma and more. Additional admins for the site needed. I love geocaching I do. https://www.facebook.com/GeocachingTacoma I think Tacoma area cachers I have met would benefit from my page on FB. You can post about what you love what you hate. About what new geocachers should know. I would like an outside admin for when im busy. Why did I have issues at first, I had no idea about how the game should be played and the first long time player that emailed me was VERY aggressive and I got defensive. With my FB page I want to avoid that though community. email me at Brunerfire@gmail.com with questions or if you want to be an admin, if you want to be and admin you have to help promote it.
  11. UPDATE: So made this cache my 100TH Took whole family almost everyone looked except 15 yearold (too cool) for it. While I took a turn helping watch my 3 yearold my son made the grab with advice where to look from my daughter.
  12. Yes I agree, I had to DNF two this last week no shame in not finding it.
  13. I know their there CO and a cacher that's found it have let me know. I want to state again the CO is very nice and tries to help.
  14. I do log my DNF and wrote a note separate. I am honest I did not find this one. There are others I did not find this one bugs me.
  15. So in my limited time less than a year I have noticed muggling. I have seen it on mine and heard it talked about a lot. There is suppose to even be a cache in Federal Way WA that a muggler checks and steals trackables. These are people that know the game and seek to steal or destroy caches. I think one way to lessen this is to remind people myself included to be extra stealthy. I have had 5 this summer so far gone. I love the game and know what hard work we all put into it.
  16. I have looked for this cache 3 times with another person. The owner has given bonus clues. Great owner for doing that. I now understand when people could not find one of mine. This one in its long history has strings of DNFs 5-7 in a row before someone finds it. I have spent all together 5+ hours. I know the area it is that it must be attached to a branch and at what eye level. I now cant drive by without begging my wife for just 30 more minutes to look. Is there ever a time to just let it go? I am not getting more finds because my limited free time is spend on this one cache.
  17. You ever had a hole list of people find your cache. Then someone cant does not log a DNF just a NM.
  18. What I have seen in the forum is that people don't care if an owner stops geocaching for years, They say from other post just NM and archive. I agree active cache active owner.
  19. Never been there, I have been to top of MT Adams
  20. Make it 3/4 mile. Grandfather existing caches. This would limit saturation. This wont be done. People would be so annoyed they would stop playing. So loss of money for Groundspeak. Same if the rule was 50,100 feet it would get so cache saturated things would get damaged and undue attention from the public would happen.
  21. So anyone but me amazed there are so many Muggles? I when asked what I am doing tell them and they look at me with blank stares. Its been on News (when geocaches mistaken for bombs) TV shows, low budget movies. Then you have geocachers friends families and co-workers. Yet people do not know maybe that's good.
  22. There are a lot of absent owners in my area. Fully absent no log in no find no new caches. When there is a absent owner and a great cache spot I email them ask if I can help. I wait email again in a month. I hate to archive but dripping wet logs with moldy Mc Donald toys can only wait so long. Well when I leave in 6 months I will remove mine myself or adopt them out. I wont just abandon them that's litter. If a cache has been thee since 2006 I don't want to archive it. I was just asking peoples thoughts. I also see people that create an account place one or two geocaches and never geocache or long on ever like they tried it did not like it and stopped in 1 month
  23. So I will find caches I like to see who the owner is so I look at the profile. Some time I see they have not logged in a year or two. So I look at their other hides and 80% already archived. So my question should their be a point your account goes on temp "frozen status" and after a set more time the caches are archived or given up for adoption or fostercache care until they come back?????
