  1. I was contacted by the author of this article a few months ago and offered to take them on a Geocache, but I never heard a reply. My Hidden Wampum cache was the one in the picture with the benchmark. Not sure who took them to that one... I could look at the dates and maybe narrow it down!
  2. I had a cache that had some unsharpened pencils that someone left in it. One cacher went on about how difficult it was to open the container since the pencils were catching on the twist off lid. Eventually after banging it around he was able to get the lid off to sign the log. After all that... you gussed it, he put the pencils right back in! Just take the them with you if they don't fit. This same cache also became so full that everything would not fit, so a ziplock bag with stuff in it was left under the cache. Eventually a nice cacher came along and took the extra stuff and put it in another cache... Thanks.
  3. Magellan SporTrac Pro, but on Sunday I couldn't find it so I used the Handspring Visor with a Magellan GPS Companion. Both work very well.
  4. I have to admit I read through most of the thread before realizing it was soo old. I thought I wasn't logged in since there were no avatars showing up. What about showing Archived caches? 4H/1A/58F Have a good day
  5. Using only traditional caches, no TB's or Virtuals/locationless/Event, I came up with this connection. Not that I have anything against Virtuals or locationless of course. I found Resurrection Aerie in Pennsylvania, which was found by CoinCachers who found Clear Creek Cache in Wyoming, which was found by TheATeam - who found Lynx Creek in Arizona, which was found by Me & Bucky who found Memories in Arizona, which was found by Snoogans Neat!
  6. Mine is a quote from The Matrix... Free your mind. Spoon Boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth. Neo: What truth? Spoon Boy: There is no spoon. Neo: There is no spoon? Spoon Boy: Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.
  7. Here is a pic of me and my son completing one of our toughest caches yet...
  8. out of the top ten nearest me, I only own 3. But as a percentage, I do own the most out of that top 10... Do I get a prize for that?
  9. I started out with a Magellan GPS Companion for the Handspring Visor. It was nice to have the cache pages and everything right on the Visor. I then purchased a Magellan 2000 for my son but it never seemed to work very well, but we still try it sometimes. Then, as we started attempting more difficult caches, I realized I didn't want my Visor getting dropped and broken, it just wasn't durable enough. Now we use a Magellan SporTrak Pro. Our total units is 3, but we really only use the SporTrak for Geocaching.
  10. Operator: Operator, may I help you? Geocacher: Yes, I am calling you from a phone booth and wanted to know if I could put a geocache in here. Operator: The pay phones only take U.S. coins sir. Geocacher: No, I mean I want to hide a geocache in the phone booth Operator: I'm sorry the phone company cannot accept money from other countries. Geocacher: No, no, no, it's not money. It's a magnetic key holder with a piece of paper and a pencil. Operator: You really shouldn't be hiding your keys in the phone booth, can't you find another place to hide it, like under your mailbox? Geocacher: No, there isn't any key in it. It's just a key holder with paper and a pencil... Wait a minute, you may be on to something... Do I need permission to attach something to the outside of my mailbox? Coming Soon - The GOING POSTAL series of microcaches!
  11. My kids really seem to enjoy caching. Mostly we plan our hunts to be a family event, if they are willing to go I will take them rather than go by myself. 1. My son locates most of the caches so yes they do participate. 2. They both like checking out the contents of the cache and can usually find something they want to trade for. 3. On our last hunt I gave the GPS to my son (10 years old in Jan) to navigate. He took us to within 50 feet of the cache then he went off the trail to the most obvious hiding spot, but found it in the 2nd most obvious spot. 4. If he has the GPS I will take pictures and just tag along, hoping we are going the right way. 5. We log our finds as a family. 6. They really don't help plan the trips unless I give them choices of caches to hunt. 7. How old? I'm not really there yet... I guess it would depend on the kid. 8. Organizations? No I don't know of any...
  12. I am in the Pittsburgh area. If you need any help in this area I would love to see the Caching Karma Stick. Good Luck!
  13. Well, I guess I'm a Lurker as well. I live in PA and have been caching for a little over a year. I visit the forums just about every day and check out what people are talking about. Sometimes there are interesting topics, other times there a lot of fluff. I don't know how much the forums really have to do with caching, but I sometimes get ideas for caches here. If I have something to say, I'll let you know...
  14. Since this e-mail exists, he must not have found who he is looking for. If he had traveled back in time he would have never written the e-mail. I would love to help but I traded my vortex generator in the last cache I was at for a p-38, those things are cool. Please be aware that if you find my vortex generator, you will need to replace the fuse.
  15. I didn't see any mention of this earlier. It looks like The Leprechauns hit #500 over the weekend. One of the few Geocachers I have met and one who is doing a great job to make this a fun and accepted sport. Thanks for all your hard work and good luck on your next 500! There is no spoon
  16. I have 5 DNF's and 50 finds. One was a problem I had calculating the final coordinates to a Multi-cache, one we started from the wrong area and couldn't make it w/o a serious bushwhack. 3 of the 5, we went back and found then on the 2nd try, and we still have 2 active NOT FOUNDS. If things go well, we should clear those up by the end of the year. "Real men aren't afraid to log a DNF" There is no spoon
