  1. Thanks Tahosa - we'll definately try to get up there.
  2. Hi Colorado Cachers! We're formerly from the Metro Denver area and moved to Arkansas pre geocaching and gc.com days! We're coming back for a whirlwind visit in May and want to fit in a few caches while we're there. Would like suggestions for quick, easy (health problems - need ones with not long walks or terrain difficulties) - but harder on difficulty is ok. Will be based in Northglenn - Wheat Ridge area for a few days and moving down to Pueblo for a few days after that. Will be returning to Arkansas via Raton, N.M. & OK so any caches there will be appreciated also. We're being the typical geocaching tourists and planning our rest stops, etc. where there are caches to be found. Looking forward to seeing our home state again in a new and different light (the geocaching way!) Thanks for any help you might give us.
  3. I believe that jeepers2 from Springfield is going. She's on the Ozark Mountain Geocachers yahoo site if you want to contact her.
  4. I find this absolutely amazing! Apparently, gc.com locked virtual tb's because they did not "move from cache to cache as intended". Well, these coins mentioned and tb's that are "looked at and logged" at events certainly never see various caches either. I fail to see any difference - other than selective choosing on gc.com's part what they select to put an end to. I personally do not choose to log tb's that are "present" at an event. That's my choice (or has been up to now) but I've also chosen not to complain or gripe about it - each to their own has been how the game has been played up to now. Yes, I did have a virtual tb. Changed it into a virt when the real thing disappeared. However, I never gave the tb number out unless someone emailed and had actually visited a cache where it was. I always checked the cache log to make sure they had been there. Only then would I give them the tb number. So it "virtually" moved with an actual cacher. Definately more logical to me than "touching" a bug at an event. All in the eye of the beholder I guess! I know from visiting the forums occasionally (very rarely as I choose not to engage in verbal combat) that any opinion from an "outsider" is deemed worthless and will undoubtly get me flamed. Don't bother since I only checked the forums this time to find out the status on these tb's and I won't play the forum game again for a long time. gc.com has the total right to do whatever they want to do - but I just would hope that they'd give it a little more equality.
  5. Checked out their site tonight and it had been updated today. Is Buxley back up and running?
  6. While caching a couple of weeks ago we had to park our car in a rather awkward area - so I stayed with the car while my husband went to find the cache. Within a few minutes, a Sheriff's car pulled up alongside me and rolled down his window. "This is a pretty strange place to park - - unless you're geocaching" he said - I just held up my GPS! He wished us good luck and said he'd found it several months earlier! When asked - we usually try to explain geocaching & have gotten some blank stares, some looks that tell you they're headed to call the local psycho unit and some interested people. We've also done the "clipboard, pen and caps" official look - that works really well! If you look like you should be there, they usually don't question you!
  7. What route will you be taking down here? There's lots of good ones by Hairy Hillbilly in Missouri, lots in Branson and lots of good ones in Arkansas - just depending on which way you come. Most of the really scenic ones take a bit of hiking - how quick do you want them to be? In fact, inless it's within one of the cities - most of the ones we know take some hiking time.
  8. Never mind - forget this whole post!
  9. We've been keeping an eye on you guys in the SE since Bonnie - and our hearts go out to you! How much can you endure from Mother Nature?? And want to commend JamieZ - what a nice offer! Gold stars for you! We're thinking of all of you! Good Luck and be safe!
  10. Might as well add us to the list - thank you! Sounds like a good book to put in a bookcrossing exchange!
  11. Ours will sometimes play games like this if the batteries are extremely low. Replacing the batteries has always solved the problem.
  12. testing again - ok, still didn't work!
  13. Hi Team Panda! We're in the northern Central region - about as close to Missouri as you can get without really being there! We're trying to keep the northern area hopping with caches! We usually go to Hot Springs once a year - and hope for new caches everytime we're there! So we're glad to see new cachers in that area! We'll echo southdeltan - check out the ArkGeocaching site, we'd love to have you there!
  14. We just put this one out last week so obviously we think it's a great idea!
  15. And yet another test! Which didn't work.
  16. When one of our tb's "disappeared" we chose to turn it into a virtual tb rather than sending it to the tb graveyard. Banana Split is now a virtual tb for virtual caches only. At first cachers have been surprised to find a virtual bug - but then they seem to love the idea. And everyone has had fun virtually moving it along!
  17. We know that this "grabbing" has been done at some of the events we've attended. Even "encouraged" by some. We've chosen not to log anything other than our true cache finds and travel bugs that we've found in those caches. Diversity is great - and there will always be differences of opinion. But we've chosen what feels "right" to us. We're not going to worry about the other guy - let him rack up all the finds and tb's that he thinks is necessary - we're comfortable with what we have found. If the other guy is comfortable with his finds - then that's the way it is.
  18. We noticed that cavepeople picked up your yjtb from 3 Monkeys and brought it to Mountain Home - where it's already been picked up again. This little guy is traveling fast!
  19. Sorry to hear about the bugs that have disappeared. Makes you want to chew on bones or something! Hate people that take bugs and don't log them. Actually, we've been checking the Cannonball page regularly to watch if any come nearby so we can move them on. Looking forward to being part of your "run" and hope to join it in the future.
  20. We've heard that this one Myotis 100 (Irish Wilderness) is fantastic. Not that we're even thinking about doing it! Link isn't working for me tonight - it's GCG4TT
  21. When we first started geocaching, we listed everything because we thought we were "following the rules". Things are a little different now than they were then! We soon discovered that the entire inventory changed after the first cacher! We had one cache that was virtually emptied out of all the very nice goodies and trashy items were left as a replacement by the first finder. So we don't list individual items anymore. Unless - it's a theme cache. That's a whole different story! They should be listed so cachers know what to take with them for trade items. As cache owners, we enjoy seeing what people took and what they left. That could be because we've had no problems with cache raiders in this area. It also lets us know that if nothing worthwhile has been put in lately, that we need to go out and replenish the stock! And when we do put something good in the cache - we enjoy knowing that someone was pleased to find it!
  22. Have you contacted the owner (Jeepers) of the cache yet? We've learned NEVER to ask that a cache be archieved without contacting the owner first. Just because one person didn't find it doesn't mean that it's not there. Almost all owners of caches will check on it and respond before you have do anything. With respect to the owner of any cache - you should ALWAYS contact them first. Don't be too quick with the trigger finger! **edited for missing space
