  1. I am in the same boat. Is it worth it? Maybe. I really enjoyed it and still do. My issue is with all the stuff that went away for those that had bought apps, had memberships has all gone away. It would have been nice had they even offered a month, 3 months, 6 months, year free membership. Had that happened, I may still cache. The unfortunate thing is all the stuff we had just got taken away. I miss it a lot and have just been snooping around again. Anyway, enjoy everyone! I get my opinion is not that of most, but it is my opinion and how I feel currently. Stay safe, be respectful of others caches, and always respect the earth!
  2. Thanks, It might hit me though. I'm a slow walker, but thanks for your concern!
  3. Well all, it has been fun, and it has been real. Unfortunately greed is getting the best of what was probably the best way to get out and about and off the couch. So for me and the family, we will no longer be geocaching. It isn't about the cost of app (which all 4 of us have), or the cost of the premium membership. It is all in principle. Forcing us to purchase a membership in order to keep going at the same level we have all become accustom to. Thanks all for all the help, suggestions, caches, etc. Take care and have fun CCB15!
  4. Well, I went and purchased the 62s. I love it, but stupid me didn't realize you need to be a premium member to get all the cool features of the geocache. Like descriptions, photos, hints, etc. So now it is either return the GPS or become a premium member. As I don't geocache alot, it seems a premium membership isn't worth it to me. So it's back to the iPhone. Thank you all for the wonderful and honest feedback. Corey
  5. Thanks for the fast replies all. I was leaning for the 62s as well.
  6. Ok All, I know this subject has been really covered, but going to ask for opinions again. Hopefully have some good input. Although any input is good input. So I went to my local Academy Sports to look at GPS's as I got a $150 gift card for my birthday. All three of these are the same price right now: 1) Etrax 30 2) GPSMAP 62S 3) GPSMAP 78 So here is my question. Any thoughts and/or comments on these three? I would really like to go paperless, which these three all have. As for other requirements, I guess I am not picky because I currently use my Iphone 4S for caching. Thanks All. Corey
  7. I think the more and more the TB go missing, the more reluctant people are going to be to use them. Eventually they will end.
  8. Thanks for the fast responses. I always notify the owner if the trackable is missing. I always review the logs before hand. I guess I should do like terrkan78 suggests. Just be pleasantly surprised.
  9. So I have been looking for a trackable because I haven't had one yet. Every one I have been to, the trackable is missing. Even though I look at the last place it was tracked, and it was never there. Is this common? I also looked in the logs and saw that nobody has said they took them. Is there anyway to know if a trackable is really there? Also, why doesn't anybody say they took it and it is now gone?
  10. Thank you all for the responses. Very good info from all.
  11. Hello All, I searched the forums here, but didn't find the answer. So forgive me if I missed it. If I did, could someone point me in the correct direction, please? I hear so much talk about different apps for your phone. Currently the kids and I have iPhone 4S, and one Galaxy S4 that we use. We are doing the low budget caching for now. Can someone please give please the differences between the 2 apps? The official Groundspeak app and the Geosphere. And your opinion on which would be better for some noobs? I mean noobs here. We enjoy caching. We currently use the lite version, but as you know, it shows the 3 closest ones. If you have already done them, you cannot get any other to come up. We would like to be able to find caches wherever we go. Like when the wife goes shopping. Perfect time to cache. Thank you in advance. Again, sorry if this has been covered before and I overlooked it. Corey
  12. Thank you for the responses. I think I will try the etrax 20 then. Merry Christmas to me.
  13. Hello All, I did a search but didn't find the answer I was looking for. Me and the kids are just getting into geocaching and I am looking at 2 different GPS systems. The reason it came down to these 2 is because it is the ones I could buy with my United Airlines miles. It is between the Garmin Dakota 10 or the Etrax 10 or Etrax 20 models. We have been using our android device and Garmin car GPS, but think we need a little more accurate system. Also, not sure what features we should have or want to have. Just something a little more high-tech. Thanks in advance, Corey
