  1. I have owned a Garmin Etrex, Garmin Legend, and currently own a Garmin Rino 120. My brother has a Magellan Gold that I have used also. So the fact that I am going to purchase a Lowrance Ifinder w/ MapCreate 6 after I have used all of these other GPSreceivers must be saying something. my review page for the garmin rino is at www.geocities.com/etrexrose/GPS just for your info after I get the money and purchase the Ifinder I will do a review on it. Im not sure what about it impresses me but obviously something does. Maybe it just seems like a more "professional or advanced" unit in that it is less user friendly like Garmins. But as most of you who own one would probebly say-you understand it eventually. I know I will be able to understand it fine eventually. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  2. dear NICKn7 wow, quite a misleading statement about how BAD the Ifinder is. I do not own a I finder but if you have ever read the review at www.gpsinformation.net about it-they say it is at par or even better. They also discuss a lot about how great the mapping software is. You sound like you either work for another company or just like messing with people's heads. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  3. Yeah man, me and my friend have one and use it while skiing, kayaking and geocaching all the time. But in Febuary, I had my Rino in the Grand Canyon and all the sudden a position was sent to me, it was amazing, we both must have stopped instantly and gone right twords eachother-we were 1.3 miles apart. WOW I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  4. Ok man, I have a review on my webpage that would be very usefull to you: www.geocities.com/etrexrose/GPS just click on the rinos' when you get there. Also just search for Rino in the forum search and their is a discussion like 80 messages long that covers every stupid thing you could think of talking about over a GPSr. hope i helped I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  5. seems pointless though, but its there, as of feb 20th I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  6. I live in Washington state and love geocaching with my Rino 120. The sport is getting so popular, you can't help but admit these boards are great for selling other items as well despite this being a GPSr forum largely. Anyways, I have a Nikon CoolPix 775 3x optical zoom 2.5 time Digital zoom 2.1 MegaPixel VERY COMPACT 1.5 inch LCD ALSO, including original box, with manual, quick start guide, USB cable, software, VIDEO OUT cable, AND THREE 30$ lithium batteries ONE special two hour quick charger for lithium batteries, can be charged in car also. The camera is sold for 250$ brand new online with only one lithium battery and slow charger and no case and only a 8mb compact flash card. So this is a good deal obviously as the camera is in good condition and LCD screen has ZERO scrathes and ZERO on the vital optics. Email me at wwyakker@msn.com if interested for more info on the unit visit: http://www.cameraforless.com/itemdetail.asp?itemid=1018 I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  7. Well, the easy way is making a whole new waypoint where you want "C" to be, then go to menu, routes, then create a new one and when adding the waypoints, use "A" and the new one "C". I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  8. I think Garmin's new GEKO's are light enough and decent enough for this application. They have 10,000 track point capability and will track very accurately. I think A magellan would record just as accurate untill it reaches it's trackpoint recording limit(which is smaller). Why magellans are better for trackbacks is they dont need to be saved(which takes away lots of T points), so if accurate trackbacking is nesesarry, then you may look at the magellan meridian green. hope this helps. 9. Who cares? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  10. Sometimes I am amazed at how much memory can be stored in so little space (such as 1 gb compact flash or 512mb SD cards. If they can fit so much memory in these cards, why cant they put more mapping memory in such units as the Rino's and Etrex's and other Garmin outdoor units? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  11. If you got yours around November, 2002 or later, you should have the extended click stick on your rino which goes out to be near even with the volume and map buttons. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  12. I am impressed with the updates that the Vista has recieved and didn't expect the 10,000 trackpoint, 750 saved track log, 125 point per route update (beta). Do you think they will eventually do similar updates for the RINO's? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  13. I just recently got in a car crash and was following my friend who was a mile ahead of me and it on a snowy road at night. We each had a rino and simply pressed the call key everyonce in awhile to show were okay and keeping up. When a 36 yr old lady that wad drunk came into my lane and hit my left front, they realized something was wrong and I sent my last location from the crash site and they came back to this point and there I was. Luckily every one was okay, but my 88 sub was not . If it wasnt for the position sending, they might not have turned back. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  14. They need to do these kind of things in other garmins like the rinos and legends ext. It really seperates it from other equally priced GPSr's in my opinion. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  15. After messing around with it for half an hour, I tried something that made it work. NOTE: To make the channel 22 codes work, first get the 2.30 update on it, then you MUST turn radio off then on again. After you turn the radio off and on, it will work flawlessly. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  16. Version 2.30 review for the Rino 120 I have DID NOT SOLVE THE CHANNEL 22 code PROBLEM. I am pissed off that they would post an update that does not do what it says. In fact the same exact thing happened, wierd stuff happens when you change code on channel 22. Not sure whats up their butts, It does say version 2.30 on the Rino itself. Can someone confirm this for me? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Birdman (The real one):Uplink, GREAT!! Let us/me know how the comparisons go. On the skiing side I am trying to upgrade a pair of Morotola T6310's. They are GREAT FRS radios that include AM/FM and Weather radio. BUT, they do not have the new GMRS higher power channels. And as everyone knows, the frs channels are completely USLESS, especially for skiing. The old "Can ya here me now?" gets answered "What? I can't here ya?" Oh, on the rechargable thing. I can't beleive Garmin does not allow for the batteries to be charged inside the unit??? That right out SUCKS!! That's rediculous!!! With a battery life of about 1 day (8 or 10 hours of use), that just does NOT make any sense!!! Why didn't they just add a plug for charging the thing? Hell, they could make more money selling the charger.... I don't understand that..... This may keep me from buying one. Oh well!! Regards, Birdman [This message was edited by Birdman (The real one) on January 09, 2003 at 08:47 AM.] thanks birdman, you mady me laugh. Thats funny how you are basing your GPSr purchase on whether they have a power cord hook up to charge the batteries in the unit. TIP: send an amazing 20 bucks on a seperate charger and some batteries to go with it-and you can forget you 8 hour battery life belief. You actually get 20 - 25 hours without using the radio. Or 20 or so hours with radio on alone. And using both is still atleast above ten bro. Get you story straight before you complain. O yeah, they DO have a external power source for your car. and tell me when you find another GPSr like the meridian or Lowrance that can charge batteries in the unit... I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.

Thanks, Bill ________________________________ Bill Jack Russells Online http://www.jackrussells.com sorry, the cheapest I have seen it for is 200 as of now, dont know if I said 120 or not. 19. you can upgrade from any version you probebly have. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  20. your asking if you can illegaly copy cds over a popular website? Or just asking if you can copy the cd then pay them? wait a second? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  21. yes you are true, to relieve some of the less known aspects of the RINOs, I made a website that I have posted before, on it, it has pictures of the inside, reviews on every little aspect, more details on the games, usefullness of certain screens, and radio power, not to mention comparisons of MAPSOURCE products and how much you can fit on the 8mb provided by the RINO 120. Its worth your time to atleast take a look, and I post reviews of other people if you send it to me, their are already 4 or 5 other user reviews posted at the end of the RINO review. So just click on the link, then click on the RINOs and read away! LINK: www.Geocities.com/etrexrose/GPS I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  22. Im sorry, but what exactly do you mean by "loaded" options, and what options are you refering to? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
