  1. Still am having problems getting the route MS mappoint makes and turning it into a normal route on my Garmin Rino and Lowrance Ifinder even if i use GPSbabel. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  2. Thanks for the reply, and keep up the work on your programming. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  3. What mapping sofware do I have to buy to be able to make a route (autorouted on the program) and send it too my gps via file or via the program it self? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  4. I dont have a magellan and most people have garmins, the best way for this to work would be to somehow make a route file that can be read by other programs like trakmaker and whatever. I just want to be able to somehow get the route created in MS MapPoint to my GPSr (Lowrance and Garmin) I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  5. Im not sure about your situation, but I LOVE my Lowrance Ifinder and sortuf like my Garmin Rino, If its for your kids, look at getting a Garmin because they are easier interfaces and the GEKOS are perfect unless for some reason they need mapping. good luck I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  6. I just got this software, and I know it can hook up to my GPSr and show where my position is on the computer- But I want the ability to make an AutoRoute then download that route it makes into my GPSr so I can follow it there. Any Chance of doing so? IF not, what software can autoroute then dload the route to a GPSr? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  7. sounds good to me, or Delorme's software which actually talks to you from the lap top while driving. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  8. scotty is not the best liar. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  9. I have a meridian Gold that got sent in because of the "bluish" screen when you turn the backlight on, so it is the most updated hardware/software wise and is in excellent condition. I have original box in perfect condition and all original contents. Also included is the Meridian Bike Mount, and Perfect condition "Ultimate GPS case." Along with all of this stuff, I will also sell you a 128mb SD card w/ preloaded MAPSEND TOPO and MAPSEND ROADS AND REC for your area if you choose. The total price for everything except the SD card is 220$. Shipping will be fast (2-3 days) and I will pay for it. If you want the SD card, then that will be another 60$. Thanks (my email if interested: wwyakker@msn.com) I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  10. From my experience, it depends more on the antenna's sensativity to gps signals then the actual patch or quad helix setup. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  11. The many faces are "contacts" for Garmin's Rinos'. ANd the others are well, i dont know if there are others... I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  12. Do you think Garmin's future Etrex/76/water proof units will have a memory card compartment for mapping and saving tracks/waypoints? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  13. I can help you out, email me at wwyakker@msn.com I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  14. your magellan can hold more then just 64 mb, you have to edit teh .ini file, but still you only get 4 regions but they can be big files, but w/ a 256 mb sd card, those maps are gonna take days just to create. my lowrance ifinder w/ mapcreate 6 takes less then 20 minutes often--its wierd. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  15. I just got 1 large water proof bag because they falselly advertised it on their website, and all Im paying for is shipping. But they fixed it now, I will get it in a few days. peace I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  16. Have owned a Magellan Gold, Etrex, Etrex Lengend, Etrex Vista, and currently own a Garmin Rino 120 and Lowrance Ifinder. I am finding that the Ifinder is the most advanced unit and most "honest" when it comes to estimated gps accuracy. Anyways, Its all good. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  17. wow ESFkids, you must have a lot of money... I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  18. well, regardless of what you think, they advertised them for free and I paid for them for nothing-so they should have to suffer- not me, but maybe they arnt friendly people. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  19. I ran across the site: atomicgps, and stumbled over something that was very suprising. They have "aquabags" for gps recievers in two different sizes: medium and large and the price says 0.00$ I just ordered 4 bags for free with only about 7.50$ for shipping and handling. Im not sure why they are free but I am taking advantage of it. Here is the direct link: http://atomicgps.com/store/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/42/products_id/235 peace I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  20. Niether, get a Lowrance Ifinder. Unless you are drawn into garmin and magellans marketing. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  21. I read your message but could not help you, do you really need to know? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  22. I know this fella already decided on what he wanted, but dont forget about the Lowrance Ifinder. I use a Garmin Rino in ruff conditions and times where I dont need roads or detailed mapping since I cant use it in the car due to the small screen(I use it for skiing and backpacking but thats about it w/topo of course). But the Lowrance Ifinder is a very very good unit for the price you can get it. I got mine brand new over EBAY for 90$ and it has super detailed tracking and more advanced options for us "smart" people. It does not have that fancy OS that garmins have but it does the job. I got the mapping on a burned CD from someone over ebay for only 40$ and it seems the LOWRANCE is every thing the Meridian w/ mapping and SD card is because it has the 128mb mapping by MMC/SD cards, SUPER SENSITIVE ANTENNA, and way more memory for things you really need---event markers are more usefull then you think. Ok im done-just dont forget about those Ifinders if your low on money and want an excellent "do it all and more" GPS. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  23. After you have found someone with a rino and talked to them, you should see whre they are on the map. Every 30 seconds, you can press the call button or the talk button and send your position so the other rino user knows where you are. What the polling feature does is allow the other rino user to see where you are without you actually sending your position. He clicks on you on the map or on you on the contact bar on the map, and in the menu clicks poll or something like that, then it will automatically get your position. He can also click say 15 seconds after he got your position and his rino will wait till 30 seconds have passed then get your position. 1. you must establish a contact first 2. you must make sure he has allow polling or something like that on 3. you must initiate teh polling by telling your rino to get poll him and then you get his position! for more info, garmin has released a manual update thingy on their website to discuss the new updates and polling feature in great detail. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  24. I wanted this feature before you guys even had a Rino. I was told that they need to deal with more important problems like freezes and glithes ext. But eventually they will all be solved and they will begin coming out with updates that are more for improving the fuctionality of the Rinos rather then fixing problems. The new polling feature is great in my opinion by the way. O yeah, my gps review site for the Rino's and soon the Lowrance Ifinder, is www.geocities.com/etrexrose/GPS thanks I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  25. The truth is though, the Magellans with their Quad Helix Antennas, are going to get better reception over the patch antennas under tree cover. Also, for car use, the magellans are better because of the biggers screen and much bigger mapping memory. But if you dont have a problem with your Legend, why switch right? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
