My Compass Doesnt Point North
Naefearjustbeer replied to Naefearjustbeer's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Thats the thing even once I took the knife away the compass is still wrong. It is a cheapy right enough as I didnt want to get an expensive one ruined by the salty atmosphere -
I keep a small compass in my bouyancy aid for when I go kayaking, Only problem is now it doesnt point north it points west???? I discovered this tonight when the fog came down as I was paddling Could this be because it was sitting beside a lock knife in my pocket? If so can I fix it??

Cheapest Place For A 60c In The Uk?
Naefearjustbeer replied to crunchiespg's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
they say it wont work so that you shell out the extra cash for the more expensive product. The unit is capable of auto-routing but it cannot do this with metroguide. If you dont want/afford/need auto routing get metroguide. I can assure you I have used this product with no problems in my 60cs. If you want auto-routing you need to get the more expensive city select. I also believe that the city select maps are larger(more info required for the auto routing) and you are not able to put as large a geographical area onto the gps. City select is also tied to 2 gps units using unlock codes, Metroguide is not tied to 2 units so if you have 3 gps units or more that are map capable you can use on copy for all , I have a friend who has several gps units and was not best pleased when he couldnt use his city select on his new 60cs as he had already used up the 2 unlock codes. He contacted garmin to ask if he could buy an extra unlock code but they dont do that, he would have to buy another copy of the full product. -

Cheapest Place For A 60c In The Uk?
Naefearjustbeer replied to crunchiespg's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
mine is an american model so it had the usa basemap not the european model. The detail doesnt appear to be that good, I expect that it would be main routes only no minor roads or streets. I think it is metroguide software that I have and it works, dont have the autoroute facillity though. -

No the base map that is on the unit is nowhere near as detailed as the mapsource products, I have the one with the compass and barometer and it is capable of autorouting but I am too tight to part with the big money required to get the correct maps for this. I believe each genuine copy of the software can be unlocked for 2 separate gps units. -
Geocaching On Bbc Radio Scotland

Excellent that was a great broadcast well done -
I had this problem and I sorted it by gently prising the battery contacts so they held the batteries tighter, Aparently some batteries are longer than others by a small amount so if your batteries are shorter they may be a little slack in the holder and ocaisionaly loose contact.

Web Hosting ? Where
Naefearjustbeer replied to Naefearjustbeer's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Thanks for all the info, Now a quick question if your hosting is somewhere else i.e your ISPs free space. Is all I need to do is buy a domain from 123-reg for £2.50 a year and tell them where my space is or are there other costs that I have not seen. If I then want more space and buy a host package is it easy to change it? simple is best for me when it comes to these things. Cheers Donnie -
I see that a lot of you have your own websites and domains, I have been considering creating my own site, I have seen a provider that seems like a reasonable price they are ideal hosting www.idealhosting.co.uk are they any good or does anyone recomend another host. I hope this is not to far off topic but I will have geocaching pages on my site if I decide to go ahead. Cheers Donnie
