  1. I got to this point late. Never really messed with Virtuals-but...due to National Park Service- I tryed to conform and place a Virtual in Josuha Tree- Thus was directed to the new site (?). As an old cacher I can see where Visuals can clog up the system. but if you do not like them.. just do not hunt them and they will go away. Did I place my one and only Virtual? yes..but will I do it again ..? probaly not... See GCROZX
  2. Is it possible to down or up load Topo maps to this unit or does it only download waypoints. I'm confused I'd like to be able to down load a topo of the area and then go hikeing. Will it use the National Geographic State CD or is it rigged in some way that I must buy new map disk from Garmin?
  3. I've had several caches to go missing in the Sparta and Spencer, TN area. If the caches are around bridges-the state TDOT has been doing some work by cutting the trees beside the bridges You just have to hide them well and hope for the best. I have one site that has been plundered untill I've gone so far as cementing in the cache holder. I think that in our area the damage is done by new members, ie- "found my first four caches today " but they never come back up on the net again-Teenagers playing with somes GPS-but they have a short attention span!
  4. No, but if you blow or humm into its ear phone plug it will warm up faster!
  5. I'm getting to old to carry a large backpack, so I now use a Lama as a pack animial-They are not the smartest animial in the world - and spook easy- My question-If I have two Garmin Rhinos, can I place one on the Lama and use it to track and find him if he runs away with my camping gear? Also can you upload topo maps to the Rhino or is it just an etrex basic unit with a radio?
  6. Thanks for your help with this one. I you ever need anything from the Middle Tennessee area-Let me know I owe you several and I appreciate your efforts. Your help just proves the point that GEO Cachers stick together. Cave. Rat
  7. The disk are large , apx 4ft in diameter and are located in the pavement or cement at some of the street corners of the district. They depict the Aztec calander and are copies of one in the Mexico City Musem. They are made of Brass by a local artist. You sometimes see visters with paper and chalk making copyies by rubbing them with the paper on top. They are really nice.

  9. Is there any one out there that can provide the long & Lat for the closest Aztec metal disk to Morgan St. ? I need that and a digitial photo of the disk. I want to make a suprize for my son , daughter in law and my granddaughter who live in that area. There are several of the wonderful disk in this area which celebrate the Mexican Culture of the pilsen district. 11. That's what we use sinkholes and caves in Tennessee for. We catch you at it -we plug another hole-hacks off the cavers but even some of them understand the concept.
  12. Why not just log on and grab it back--Then if it shows up and someone tries to log it they can not make use of it because you have the number and it is your property? Travel Bug # never die! save it a couple of years see how many come back home
