  1. I have 60CSx that I bought in April and hardly use. Question #1 is, for someone like me that only uses it to track where I've gone and where I want to go when I go off-road motorcycling in Northern California, would I miss out on any real functionality by switching to the Rino 530 which would give me emergency radio potential (right?)? Anyway, when I go to update my unit, I can't seem to get my computer to recognize the device properly. I've downloaded the web updater and the 60CSx USB driver, but still nothing. I'm sure this has been a common problem (for rookies like me), so can anyone give me a link to instructions? THANKS!
  2. Thanks everyone, I will read that post and see what I can come up with. Thanks again!
  3. On the toolbar should be a drop-down menu that specifies the mapset being used. Presumably that currently is set to Topo and therefore MapSource thinks you want to display the Topo map data. Set it to another product or to "No map" and it should stop asking for the Topo CD. I don't know why your Google Earth is crashing. Does it work ok if you run it on its own rather than calling it via MapSource? I just dont get it. Maybe I should ask HOW I do what I want to do instead of pretending like I sort of know what I'm doing. I want to be able to see on my computer screen the path I took...whether it be on google earth, or ideally on a bigger version of the topo map. Is there a way to install the topo map onto my computer so that I don't have to keep inserting the disc? How do other people do this?
  4. Ok so pardon me but I'm a bit of a rookie. I took my brand new 60csx with me on a motorcycle ride today. What do I do next to view my path on either MapSource or Google Earth? Well, let me clarify. When I open up MapSource and import everything from the 60csx, it asks me to insert the Topo map CD that I originally used. Why does it do that? I don't want to need the CD all the time. Next issue. When I go to view the map in Google Earth or whatever, Google Earth basically crashes and simply doesn't work. I've reinstalled it, and I think it's actually done the same thing on another computer. So, what am I not getting here? THANKS
  5. I'd be willing to pay someone to make me some maps of a specific northern california area that I ride motorcycles in! Just east of Chico!
  6. Which software do I use to do this? The Trip/Waypoint manager that came with the unit or the Topo map software?
  7. Thanks! Are there any special settings I need to turn on or off in order to get the 60csx to keep track of where I'm going so that it works well in Google Earth?
  8. Saw some pretty cool photos on another thread that showed a guy's path overlaid somehow on a Google Earth image. Can someone point me in the right direction to show me how this is done? I think that's so cool, I didn't even know this was possible when I bought my unit a couple of weeks ago!
  9. Still debating whether or not I really need a 1GB chip. How do you check how full it is again? How much memory are you using? Right now I have CA and NV topo maps loaded, will eventually get CitySelect or whatever installed too.
  10. Right, buddy, like I'm into rewarding them with MORE money.
  11. Ok so who has CitySelect that they want to share with me?
  12. so wait, for my new 60csx, if I get the 1gb card I also have to have the adapter?
  13. I spent dang near $80 on the topo map for my 60csx, and it didn't even seem to require any kind of unlocking. Why are we spending all of this money on maps that it appears we can share? That being said, what's the story with CitySelect? Does it need unlocking? Who's sharing their copy?
  14. I have a 60csx. I just loaded up some of the Topo map for California and Nevada, and apparently I need the CityStreet maps or whatever they're called. I'm wondering if I need to take advantage of the $30 1GB chip that Outpost.com is selling right now. In order to decide, I'd like to find out how much memory I'm already using. How much of your memory are you using with which maps? Any help would be appreciated!

  16. Now that I've had my 60csx for a few days and got the screenshot thing going, thought I'd share my signal. This is indoors, about 6 feet from a sliding glass door facing south in the SF Bay Area.

  18. Ha, yeah that place is right next to me. It's OK, a little questionable. Their vent aims up towards our back door. Always smells nice
  19. Trying to figure out whether I have 2.60 or not. Is there a way to check?
  20. Hi all, Bought my first GPS unit, the 60csx. Finally figured most of it out after playing with it and reading the directions, but one thing I don't fully understand is what you guys mean when you say WAAS and SIRF? What is that? What do the D's that you guys talk about mean? I assume it's good that I'm picking them up? The conditions of the picture below...rooftop of a condo building in the bay area, mostly cloudy skies, took about 2 minutes to get to this signal. Should I expect better reception or better +/- distance? Thanks for the help in advance!
  21. Thanks, it's coming together for me now. I figured out the scrolling thing. I guess I need the additional maps. Pricey they are! [Edited by moderator to remove non family friendly content.]
