  1. We have a group meeting next week in east fallowfield park (chester county, pa) . I was hoping there was a cache there, as many of us have interest in this. There aren't any...but if any of you have enough fire in you to place one .....we'd really appreciate it Disclaimer :I'm sure this request isn't "proper" but I'm desperate for some in our group to pick up this activity, and I'm not experienced enough to place one myself. So this is my shot in the dark. Thanks.
  2. I discovered this, I love this, I want to do this. My DH has done all of them with me and the kids, but I think he's only doing it b/c he doesn't want us out in the woods alone. He doesn't complain, BUT I'd like to do alot more than he is willing to, when we go out he's only up for 1 or 2. Are there any women that do this alone, it seems like a man thing, but just curious if I'd be the odd ball out there??
  3. I am right there with you all. I placed an order with Groundspeak 2 days ago (fathers day) I did end up ordering a simple navy shirt, but really wanted somthing better. I sent them a seperate email (because I saw on something that it was being offered due to a specific request) asking for a car magnet, they have car stickers and clingies but with tinted windows I need something on the outside. They did read my email but did not respond. Has anyone seen anything geocache related at sporting good stores or Army/Navy stores....??
  4. Muggles in Harry Potter are non-wizards. Wizards must always be careful not to be seen performing magic in front of them. Muggles in Geocaching are non-cachers. Geocachers must always be careful not to be seen performing their hunt in front of them.
  5. I ordered a couple things from Groundspeak...a license plate holder, a hat and a caching pins. I also picked up a compass whistle, a set of 6 bungee cords, a "D clip??" with a built in flashlight (includes hearing aid batteries), and a bunch of other things along those camping/hiking lines. Not sure what I'll use for FTF but I THINK that my cache will be nicely stocked. I am comparing that to the caches we have already found (only about 6 or 7 so far) that have been filled with mostly junk. I'm doing a Delaware event tomorrow with multiple caches, so I plan to get more finds and experience with stocking. And more input from other experienced cachers. I can't wait.
  6. I understand that FTF is a big deal. I have an ammo box that will hold a good amount of items and will stock it well when I put it out. My question is will the FTF clear it out, is that their "right" ? I personally would like only 1 or 2 items traded, to give the next few finders "good" items. I just bought 6 really cool things and don't want FTF to get them all, will that happen. I don't want to sound mean, I'm just not sure how much the first finder will take. I know no one know for sure, but what is the norm?? I'm also thinking of putting only a couple cool things with 1 special for FTF, and them going back maybe every 5 finds or so and re-checking the stock and added to it when needed. What do you all think of that?? Please help, I'm still new and this will be my first hide.
  7. We have only a few find's and I know this isn't directed at people with our low numbers, but I'd like to reply... I do have an ammo box sitting in my garage waiting to be hid, among other things ready to go. I personally want our hides to be really good, not in the sense of difficulty but in the sense that people enjoy them. I am not good with that, but I have been asking muggles for suggestions without telling them for what. Just implying for a "scavenger hunt". I like getting a find in a place that my kids can enjoy, rather than a parking lot light pole (which we've had 2 of). So I'm going to try to be creative.
  8. thank you, thank you!!! I know this will help, my husband will be able to do it.
  9. I am rather new to this, BUT love it. I have been doing all the searches from zip code search. But looking for easier way. Is there something I'm missing....can I look at a map of my area that has multiple caches shown. Google uses a push pin symbol to mark each one. But I want to see one map that shows multiple "pins" and this way if I'm out I can go right in order from one to the next closest one. How do you all do multiple searches, I have been printing a page for each cache and taking the page with me on my search. What am I doing wrong??? Oh, also I'm not that good with GPS yet, so I can't input several coordinates into it, YET. Plus I need the pages for hints.
