  1. if I am on the cache page and hit geocaching.com maps, the unfound caches do not show up. If I zoom way out, It show found and unfound caches but not enough map detail to be useful. This has got to be a case of "If it's not broken, DON'T FIX IT.
  2. When I am looking at a cache and hit geocaching.com maps to find other caches in the area, all I get are a few of my found caches. If I zoom way out, all the caches in the area show up, both found and unfound but there is not enough detail in the maps as to be useful. Why the heck do they keep fiddling with these maps? They used to be fine the way the were.
  3. I have a premium membership and GSAK. Is there a simple way of loading the caches on the Magellan explorist GC? The useless manual is as clear as mud. With my garmin and Palm M50, I was able to export the file and send the coords to the palm.
  4. When I create a pocket query and export it via Gsak to my palm m500, I don't get the description and past log data. This used to work but not anymore. I use the pocket query to load into Gsak and then export it to my memory card and load it into cache mate on the palm. I know the data is in Gsak and I haven't changed anything in Gsak or cache mate. Hope someone can help me.
  5. When I use GSAK to download cache info to my Palm M500, I do not get all of the cache info. I do not get Description, Past logs or the overview. All I get is the Info and Hints. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?
  6. Hi! I am a fellow geocacher from Massapequa Park. You have found at least 6 of my caches and not one of them has been under a pile of sticks. I would rather search a preserve for a pile of sticks instead of finding amicro in someones driveway or a parking lot. It seems like people don't use their imagination when hiding caches anymore. It is making this game boring. Hope you can place unique caches in beautiful places.
  7. When you run the hotsync app on the PALM in the upper right should be the user name. If there is no name, or the name is wrong you then need to put Changename on the palm and change the name to what your user name is when you purchased cachemate. It looks like the userID is a random number greater than 255 but less than 65535. you can't change it with normal palm software, it takes the ChangeName app I mentioned in post #6. Jim Jim, You are a Godsend. I did what you suggested and was finally able to register cachemate. I don't understand why Cachemate doesn't realize that they have a problem and put out the information themselves. Thanks again.
  8. Jim Thanks for getting back to me again. I tried copied cachemate from the card to the handheld but I still can't register cachemate. Does your handheld have a name? If it does not have a user name then it won't register. See my previous post. It has to be the same user name you used when you registered cachemate. Jim where is the username stored on the palm. The only place i found a username was in the network preferences and i changed that. Still had no luck registering. thanks for your help Jim
  9. .Did you move the cachemate program to the hand held or leave it on the SD card? You can copy it to the hand held with the copy command. It should register once it is on the hand held. I did mention moving the program to the hand held in my post. Jim Thanks for getting back to me again. I tried copied cachemate from the card to the handheld but I still can't register cachemate.
  10. For a suggestion see this post. And the smittyware documentation. Jim I tried using the SD card and I downloaded cachemate to the card as you suggested. However, when i try to use cachemate, it says it is an unregistered version and I can only display 10 caches. I got two different registration codes from cachemate but i keep getting an invalid code message. Cachemate's Brian Smith, said that it will not work. Now I need to know if there is another program that I can load on my Palm M500 that works with GSAK and does the same task as cachemate.
  11. I just replaced my old PC with windows XP with one running Vista 64 bit. The new PC doesn't have a serial port so I bought a Palm M500 to use for my paperless caching. I can't hotsync the palm and I just learned that Vista 64 does not support the Palm O/S. Someone suggested that instead of hotsyncing, I load the GSAK file to an SD memory card. I did that but I can't figure out how to load Cachemate to the Palm without hotsyncing. Has anyone figured out how I can accomplish using the Palm with my new computer. I sure could use some help. Thanks
  12. .I have a similar problem. I was using an old Palm with my old computer on a serial bus. My new computer only has a USB so I bought a Palm M500 but I can't hotsync it or load the driver on the computer. I will get a SD card and load the data on the card but how can I load Cachemate on the Palm without being connected to the PC? Thanks
  13. Personally, I wouldn't have a GPS without one. But I've taken the time to learn how to use it properly. A lot of people don't, and get frustrated with them. The electronic compass isn't magic. While the actual compass display (that's the compass ring) should always be fairly accurate, the navigation arrow (that many people confuse with the compass) works by combining the GPS's current solution as to your exact position with the unit orientation as determined by the compass, in order to place the arrow in the right direction. If the current location is off (due to normal GPS error), the arrow direction will be off. Yet people will blame that on the compass, when in fact it's performing correctly, based on the information it's working with. A handheld compass would have produced the same results. Could someone please give me a simple method of using the HCX with the compass. I just used my new HCX today for the first time and I kept going in circles trying to figure out where the pointer was taking me. Sometimes it was 180 degrees out ond then other times it was acting like my old Garmin without the compass. Thanx
  14. These nature pictures are wonderful. This is what geocaching should be about. Getting to see some beautiful nature and enjoying the natural beauty, not some street or mall parking lot micros. We seem to be getting away from thoughtful cahe placement.
  15. Feature request: When I request the unfound caches nearest my home location, there are many caches that I haven't found but many of these I don't want to search for. Some are micros in parking lots or on street corners or others are what I consider "junk caches". I wish that there was a code that we could use that would delete these caches from my unfound lists but wouldn't show up on that caches logs. Thanks
  16. My least favorite caches are: Film canisters in pine trees or a wall of ivy plants. Micros hidden on street corners with lots of traffic. Caches placed in 50 acre beautiful parks and the cache is placed in the poison ivy or thorn bushes.
  17. Stacy, I just received my laptop geocoins this morning. They are beautiful, too beautiful to set them out in caches. I am planning on giving them to my grandchildren and keeping one for myself. Thanks for producing this unique coin. It was well worth the wait. I don't know how much profit you made on this coin but you earned every penny. They are worth much more than we paid. And for you to have to put up with the griping, you deserve a lot more. Thanks again. I am looking forward to your next coin.
  18. I ordered one yesterday but I haven't received a Paypal invoice yet. I received an email saying To send a check or money order but no amount for shipping was stated. I wouldn't know how to send a check for 255 czk. I hope another email will be coming with the Paypal invoice.
  19. Yes, I have been clicking on Geocaching.com google map. I do not get any listing of caches in the area, not even the one that I am viewing. All of a sudden, it started working after one week.
  20. Yes, I have been clicking on Geocaching.com google map. I do not get any listing of caches in the area, not even the one that I am viewing.
  21. I don't know if this is a result of the new upgrade on geocaching.com or not, but when I click on Geocaching.com google map while displaying a cache page, I no longer get the nearby caches displayed. I used to get the names of all nearby caches.
  22. Stacy and John, Both invoices have been paid. Any idea when we can expect to receive the coins? They are fabulous.
  23. [i can't believe it but the new coins look even better that the original photos. Awesome looking coins. Can't wait to get them. Just received invoice and paid with paypal. Still have another order in for two more. Thanks Spikerek
  24. Would definitely like several of these. They are fabulous. I'll wait for the rservation site to order. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
