  1. If you are ever feeling especially evil, I can help you with creating a puzzle or two.
  2. I would never trust my Colorado on a belt clip. One side or the other always fails and the GPS goes flying. I actually prefer mine in the clip case I bought for my explorist. It's not a perfect fit, but I still prefer it to anything else.
  3. I would send that route to Garmin, so they can fix what ever "spot" you are scratching.
  4. What is an "Icon menu"? Are you referring to the shortcut "wheel"?
  5. I've noticed something like this when I have an SD card. If you have an SD card in, try removing it and seeing if that makes the problem go away.
  6. I'd definitely be interested in something like CacheMate for the iPhone.
  7. I downloaded the vr6 map and it seems relatively nice. It has a street map and a transparent topo map. If you activate just the topo 24k along with topo 2008, you get a rather ugly looking set of topo maps because topo line labels of the topo 2008 are written over by the topo 24k. If you activate both maps, then you get nice road and water data, but none of it is labeled, so all roads show up as 'road'. I'm not sure how that would compare to what IndyJpr has planned, but over all it is pretty nice. --Marky
  8. IndyJpr, I'll download it today and give it a try. --Marky
  9. Just don't blame it on Garmin when third party resellers make false claims.
  10. I returned my Triton 2000 on Saturday. I've given up waiting for a stable update. Sorry Magellan, you've lost one of your loyal customers. Meridian Platinum->Sportrack Pro->Sportrack Color->eXplorist 600->Triton 2000->Garmin Colorado 400t I had high hopes for the Triton line, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I've been a long time evangelist of the Magellan GPS line, but no longer. --Marky
  11. I agree, we shouldn't need to try to bypass the OS's normal operation regarding the trash. If it hasn't made it to the issues list, there should be an issue: Ignore (GPX, etc.) files placed in the Macintosh OSX Trash.
  12. Steve, Glad to hear that you gave the Colorado a second chance. I was fairly certain that you had a bad unit and that you'd be happy with a properly functioning unit. It really is a sweet little device, once you embrace it's few little quirks (of which, many should go away over time via firmware updates).
  13. I have a Mac, but I load the caches from GSAK running under VMware Fusion... I just repeated the whole process again, and now the found caches seem to be gone. Snake suggested that I empty the recycle bin before reloading the caches, and that may have done it. Seems the Colorado may like to do some dumpster diving... Make sure you empty the trash when you delete the .GPX files on a Mac. I had the same issue, and I posted about it in one of the 100+ Colorado threads. I can't believe you didn't see it.
  14. Before you can get tracking numbers, you need to submit your design to Groundspeak and they need to approve it. Once that is done, you'll pay for the tracking numbers ($1.50 each) and receive a file with the tracking numbers and the activation codes. You'll give the tracking numbers to your minter. That's why it's so nice to go with a minter that does all that for you. --Marky
  15. Yes, Garmin is actively working with Groundspeak to get these caches archived.
  16. I didn't see this mentioned in the thread. Someone already has something like this and it's pretty cool:
  17. Are you using the Options->Show Compass to get to the compass screen? There are a few ways to keep this from happening. My fav is to press the down arrow on the roller and get to the compass/map combo screen. That's my fav screen and I rarely use the full compass screen. From that screen you can press the center roller button to get the full compass, and then come back to the compass/map combo screen. --Marky
  18. Probably good you are returning it, since it isn't going to get any better. That said, I have no issues with viewing the screen in any conditions. But if you don't like it, you should return it because it isn't going to change much with firmware updates. Mine boots up in 21 seconds. Is that what you consider slow? Or maybe you didn't update to version 2.40? Definitely a defective unit. Updating the firmware might help some, but it sounds defective to me. I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. What two maps are you talking about? I know you can load more than one map onto an SD card. --Marky
  19. :-) Thanks! It looks like I have something to trade with you Oh, Yeah, WAY TO GO! You see, persistence pays off Congrats Intolerable! I bet you'll be tolerable for the rest of the night at least. fairyhoney, we should start up a thread for bear traders. --Marky
  20. The Geocoin Fairy goes to Town? I think that was PG-13.
  21. 6 Geocoin packages. They all had Joani's name on them, so I didn't get to see what was in them.
  22. I noticed last Sunday that my Colorado 300 did not adjust for the daylight savings changes... The wife's 60Cx did, but not the newer CO unit... I need to check up on it again to see if it is still off... Mine updated just fine.
  23. Doesn't everyone already cache with their cellphone? As far as talking and caching, if you have a bluetooth handsfree, you shouldn't have any problem answering a phone call, and still caching.
  24. I'm in, great cause! Your coin has long been on our seeking list, so it will be awesome to add it to our collection. --Marky
  25. Just reasking, still looking for an asnwer. Thank you. My 300 has done this from day one, and after v.2.40, too. Garmin techsupp told me it is a firmware issue and is being worked on for an upcoming update. Nobody has been able to convince me that this isn't a hardware problem. My 400t always has the right time, even without a sat lock.
