  1. I definitely had no problem with that. This is an open forum, and is the correct place to post how you are feeling about the site. Change comes about in just this way. The changes that are bothering you don't bother everybody, but that's not a reason to keep your opinions or ideas to yourself. I've enjoyed reading this thread as it has brought forward a lot of pros and cons of the site, from many different perspectives. I hope you can ignore, or side step around the things that are bothering you about the site, and get back to finding some geocaches (and you have to admit, this site is the place to be if you want to find them). Kind regards, Marky
  2. With 18 finds, it seems like you've barely given the site a chance, or at least, not taken advantage of all that it has to offer. I suggest you get out there and have some fun finding caches. I mean, that's what this site is all about, right? I am so grateful for all the cache hiders that have posted the caches to this site, because they have enhanced my life by taking me to places I wouldn't have gone (or even known about). Without this site, I doubt that I would have had the chance. --Marky
  3. I'm happy to be a member of this community and have no issues what so ever with the site, or its inhabitants. Much more civil in behavior when compared to elsewhere on the net. Major kudos to Jeremy and all the others involved. --Marky
  4. I'm not sure why your browser is saving the file as .html. Try just renaming the extension to .loc and see if EasyGPS is happy with it. --Marky
  5. For those who haven't seen the smurf AYB flash movie, it's here. --Marky

  7. I always look forward to logs by marwagsalot. They aren't super verbose, but they are always cute as they are written from the viewpoint of the dog, and usually have pictures. --Marky

  9. Seems like there is a slight problem with multi-cache approvals (if it is desired to keep the physical caches a ways away from each other). There is no way for a cache approver to know where the actual physical cache is placed when approving a multi-cache, only where the starting point is. I'm actually fine with this and think it's not a problem, as long as the starting point is far enough away. But if there is a goal not to have physical caches so close, then the submit form for multi-caches would have to have both the starting coords and the physical cache coords. This gets more complicated if multi-cache has multiple physical caches. --Marky
  10. I got some for $3.98 each at a surplus store I drove by this weekend while geocaching. I didn't take any coords, but you drive right by it when going to this cache. --Marky
  11. This seems like a good price. We came across these at the paintball and survival store at the corner of highway 1 and Stuve Road, the road that leads to Zmudowski state beach (and the Z-Sandy Cache). We bought ten. There were plenty left. They had lots of other interesting army surplus-ish stuff there, that I hadn't seen at other surplus stores. --Marky

  13. I came up with this new word today to describe what our geocaching adventures are: Daycation. We find that while we are geocaching, we aren't worrying about the trivial and boring details of our lives and are just outside having a good time. Today was no exception. We found 9 caches which pushed us past 150 (including virtuals). We hid a cache in Santa Cruz (Ocean View, which I haven't reported yet). Got skunked twice, both because of newbies (2 finds) messing things up, which was humbling. We smashed 17 pennies (10 at Cannery Row and 7 at Fisherman's Wharf). We just got back and now I need to log the finds and not founds and report the newly hidden cache. --Marky

  15. ELP @ 11/02/02 sounds good to us as well. BTW, I've never been to that park before, even though it's close by. Sounds like a blast. --Marky
  16. it's probably the fault of the cache owner if the page isn't working... --Marky
  17. I hope the twins like the Cachin' Kelly outfits. Thanks for the cool sig item. I've already put up (next to my Venture Pass). --Marky

  21. When I generate a loc file, I also generate the palm file to go along with it. That way, I can look it up and see the cache details. Now if only I could do the same for benchmarks... --Marky
