  1. Yeah, this never happened when the panning was north up (pre-v2.40). --Marky
  2. I don't have any. Some people do. Nobody knows why. My suggestion is: Buy the GPS at REI. If it has a clock issue, then return it and get another. Both ones I bought have never ever, on any of the firmware releases, had any clock issues.
  3. The SDK must be close to being released. Maybe a week away? I can't wait. The iPhone is the most awesome phone I've ever had, and it just keeps getting better.
  4. I thought the only issue was that you couldn't color them individually. Edit: or rather, the individual colors are ignored.
  5. That's not been my experience. I think you probably have a defective unit, and should return it. Also, the backlight dim/off on low power is an option now.
  6. Ditto. When I'm outside, I rarely use backlighting unless I am in the shade. I don't see them making any hardware fixes for this. I do think some improvements can be made with regards to color choices. I personally have zero complaints with the screen. I believe most of the complaints come from previous 60CSx users (of which the OP falls into), so I would guess you might have issue with the screen at first. If you are worried about it, buy it from REI, and if you just can't stand the screen, just return it.
  7. Not only can you see them as you drive, you can set up a proximity alert to beep you if you drive within a certain distance to a cache. I always found this both fun and annoying at the same time. I currently have proximity alerts off.
  8. Of course you can setup the order and type of shortcuts with these units in any way you please, plus you can have different setups with each profile. None of this was available with the 60 series. Personally, I find this new setup much more flexible. Put the shortcuts in that you want in the order you want and they will be there in the future.I find that its the Others menu that I would like to see this feature implemented on. These are things that aren't in my Shortcuts menu because I don't use them as much. However, when I do it would be nice to have them sort in order of most frequent use.As long as it is an option, I'm fine with this change. I personally like it just the way it is, going back to the thing I last used. Since the order of the items never changes, I know just how far to scroll and in what direction to get to where I want to go in the options list. If it was constantly reordering, I'd always have to be searching for the one I was interested in.
  9. That's awesome dude. I'm already in your dept as far as trades go. Now I need to find something else for you. *sigh*
  10. Valerie, my condolences to you and your family. That's a nice memorial to your mother to start some travelers out in that way.
  11. Yet. I'm hoping they will add this capability.
  12. I've been very happy with my purchase. The fact that it doesn't remember the backlighting doesn't bother me. When I'm outdoors, I don't have the backlighting on anyway, and I can see the screen just fine. I don't know if it is user error, or something else (like polarized sunglasses), but I have no complaints about the screen at all. I personally think it's worth the money as it stands right now. If you don't, then don't buy it (or return it, if you did buy it). If they were to leave us at the current firmware and not have any future updates, I'd still be happy with it. The things it does that other GPS units don't do is the reason I bought it. I think I got my money's worth.
  13. There are many ways to get the geocache onto the Colorado, I'll adress a couple of common ones. Let's say you are viewing the cache page of GC12345 and click the Send to GPS button. This will create a gc12345.gpx file on your Colorado in {drive letter}:\Garmin\GPX. To delete the geocache, you would connect your GPS to your computer and delete the file {drive letter}:\Garmin\GPX\gc12345.gpx. GC12345 should no longer appear on your GPS. Let's say you request a pocket query of your nearest unfound caches, and you receive the file 8194.gpx via email and put it in {drive letter}:\Garmin\GPX\. At the end of the day, you log your finds, including GC12345 (maybe via the field notes feature?) and the next day, request your nearest unfound caches pocket query. You receive 8194.gpx via email. Copy and replace the 8194.gpx already on your GPS with the new gpx file. GC12345 should no longer appear on your GPS. If you use some other method to get the geocache onto your GPS, please give the details and I'll try to give you instructions on how to delete it. --Marky
  14. Actually no, I don't think the GPX file is modified at all. The field note DB on the GPS is modified, and the mapping software uses the field data DB to override things, such as whether the icon shows as the geocache type icon, or the open chest icon, and whether the geocache shows up in the nearest list, or the found list. This is only speculation from the viewpoint of a programmer, as that's how I might have done it. --Marky
  15. Ya know, the backlight thang is annoying, but you get used to it real fast. I mean, how hard is it to press the power button and pull the rocker a few clicks. I just do it automatically now when I power up. Once this is part of your start up, it doesn't bother you any more (well, it doesn't bother me).
  16. Yes, exactly same with file I loaded from GSAK, but direct file was fine. I'm wondering if there's a format thing with the CO. I hope somebody smarter than me can determine the issue.I had the same problem yesterday with a gpx file direct from a pocket query. I did a reset of all user data (hold down both soft buttons and power on) and the problem went away. That fixed it for me too, but it's a very annoying fix, since you have to go through all the init stuff again. Yuck. I would like to know what caused this, so that I can avoid it in the future. Is it because I had disabled caches? I did have caches I owned on there, but can't believe that would be it. From now on, my disabled caches will only be put on as POIs just as a precaution. --Marky
  17. Interesting. Well, I've successfully loaded GPX files from GSAK in the past, but not this time. Both Colorados that I put this GPX file on wouldn't work. --Marky
  18. Another issue today. I was doing some cache maintenance so had created a PQ that had nearby caches, plus had disabled caches that I owned. For some reason, I couldn't get the GPS to go to ANY geocache in the list. It would come up, and I could see the cache info, but it would never activate (compass wouldn't show the arrow, map wouldn't show a line from the current position to the cache, etc.) Has anyone else seen something like this? --Marky
  19. Marky- How do you get around?? TomTom. After having voice guided navigation, I don't think I'd ever want to go back to one that just beeps at me.
  20. Neat! I can't reproduce this since I don't have any routable maps on mine.
