  1. Which requires a windows install disk, and I am lacking one of those.
  2. I like the functionality of mygeocachingprofile. I like the looks of the output, but having stats 1 to 3 days outdated is annoying. I took it off my profile because of that. I guess I'll just use the system generated stats until I find something better.
  3. The one I found didn't mention PC's. Wonder if it is the same software. Yep, it's the same one. I tried it, didn't like the looks of the output, and deleted it from my profile.
  4. Thank you for the helpful suggestion. I just used GCStatistic and I didn't really like the look of the output. I like the looks of mygeocachingprofile, but not the reliance on the PQ, which can only be generated every 3 days. I just want something that provides more detail than the system generated stats. I'm no programmer, so I'm not about to try to write one.
  5. Yes, that is what I was referring to. Kinda thought the reference to My Finds PQ and mygeocachingprofile.com would indicate that. And yes, I am aware of the system generated stats page.
  6. Ok, I'm sure this has already been asked (So why are you asking again, Lacey?), but I went through the topic listing and didn't see it (maybe I missed it). What is a good profile generator for a Mac? I used mygeocachingprofile.com, but I don't like that it relies on my finds PQ, which means my info tends to be out of date. Thanks!
  7. I have both a smartphone and a Garmin. Before I got my Garmin, I went for a find in the woods. I could not get close to the indicated GZ on the phone. I would take 2 steps towards it and all of a sudden, I'd be over 100 ft away. I'd back up the 2 steps, and I'd be 40 to 50 ft away in another direction. I'll try again, next time I'm in that area. I got my Garmin, went for another find in the woods. The phone had me about 20 ft away, the Garmin had me right on top of it. Looking in a hole in the tree I was next to, the Garmin was right. I still use the phone (satellite map view) to get me in the general area, but I rely on the actual GPSr to lead me to it. So far, I've never had to go more than 5 ft from where the GPSr tells me it is.
  8. Hi, everyone. My name is Linda aka Lacey1961. I got into this about a month ago. I found my first cache on 8/24/12, with the help of a fellow cacher who happened to be in the area. It was a nano. I had no idea what to do with it, so she graciously helped me, and provided some very helpful tips. [Might I add, I hate nanos, because I have longish fingernails, which make rolling and reinserting the log a little difficult. Yeah, I need a log rolling tool.] My next find was all on my own (woo hoo!), and my next was a PAF (well, actually a textAF). Since then, I've had a co FTF, and a best day of 22 (21 actual, and an event). As of yesterday, I have a streak of 10 days; hoping to make it 11 today. I'm still not used to encounters with LEO's. I've had 2, so far. Both in parking lots, both at night. c:geo app in map mode helped me both times.
  9. I'm relatively new to this. Only been doing it a month. But but one of my pet peeve's is when CO's don't provide information for parking. Just because it's a city park doesn't mean there's parking. I know of two parks in my area that don't have parking. One I found had no parking because I went to look for caches there. After driving around looking, I simply gave up. Or what if I'm out of town and don't know the area, and I have to hunt for parking? Takes a bit of the fun out of this game. Another pet peeve is when the cache description says "no bushwhacking" but when you get there, you need to bushwhack. Just because you didn't need to bushwhack in 2005 when you hid the cache, doesn't mean that by 2012 the area hasn't become overgrown. Another one is when attributes are selected... kid friendly, dog friendly, but also ticks, thorns, poisonous plants, and/or dangerous animals? Really? I don't want my child or my pet romping in poison ivy. On a similar line is when the area has these things, and they aren't noted. And finally, CO's that don't maintain their caches. There is one local (to me) CO who's caches I don't even bother to look for, because of that. It makes the CO look bad, takes the fun out of it for new cachers, and is probably quite annoying to more experienced cachers. If I look for 30 minutes or more, and can't find it because I'm new and really don't know what I'm doing, that's one thing, but if I'm wasting my time because it's gone missing (and the cache owner hasn't bothered to check/replace), that aggravates me.
  10. No, it doesn't come with an SD card. I put the extracted file in the Garmin folder, but it's not seeing it. I have 4 caches in a quick, very restricted PQ, and it's telling me no caches. Garmin is no help. Yeah, I tried calling them. If I send the cache individually to the unit, it will see it, though. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
  11. I thought I had done that but it's not working.
  12. I've been using my smartphone to cache with. I just got a Garmin eTrex 30, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get PQ's on it. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking for, but I really don't want to have to send each individual cache to my GPS.
