  1. Well I think I've stumped you on this one, so I'll give you the answer, which is that the authors (CS Lewis, Aldous Huxley and John F Kennedy) all died on the same day - 22 November 1963. I'll give the ding to hal-an-tow for identifying two of the authors. I wasn't expecting anyone to identify JFK as the author of the third book, but I thought that the coincidence of their deaths was a fairly well-known bit of pub quiz trivia, so I thought people might work it out by connecting Lewis and Huxley. However it's always difficult to judge what other people know, so if I made it too hard I apologise! Over to hal-an-tow...
  2. Very wide of the mark I'm afraid. A bit more information - A Nation of Immigrants was written by John F Kennedy.
  3. Good guess, but wrong. But you've got the right authors (hint).
  4. What do the books That Hideous Stength, Brave New World and A Nation of Immigrants have in common?
  5. White is the obvious answer. Unless this is a trick question, and a traditional Oreo doesn't have a filling...
  6. Not sure if it's related to the latest release, but when using the app for a cache earlier, I couldn't get a "open cache in browser" link. Is this a bug or intentional?
  7. Thanks. "What the Romans Did For Us" was a TV programme on BBC2 a few years ago. Who presented it?
  8. What is the only British city to have hosted the British Empire Games/Commonwealth Games on more than one occasion?
  9. Ding! The height of 51.6m (169ft) is actually 4.4m (14ft) less than originally thought, but it was re-surveyed in 2006 during renovation. Incidentally, in case there's allegations of cheating, colleda messaged me to say they'd found the height on the website. My view was that as they hadn't gone actively searching for the information, it was ok to post. After all, it's only for fun! So, over to colleda...
  10. Some of mine:- GCT0D3 - Ballast Island [Porthmadog] GC4GEAB - Start Jumping at the Bryn [near Bala] GC35YM2 - H2O [Welshpool] GC3HW03 - Llanmerewig Loop 11 (Duck Pond) [near Kerry] GCQMC6 - Mermaid of the Mawddach [Barmouth] GC1E84 - Talyllyn Adventure [near Tywyn] I tend to stick to North and Mid Wales, so haven't included any in the south.
  11. If it turns up, does it count as a lost and found event?
  12. Sorry for the delay! As you're probably aware if you've got the souvenir, last Friday was Australia Day, which celebrates/commiserates (depending on your point of view) the arrival of the first fleet of Royal Navy and penal colony ships, and raising of the British flag. In what year?
  13. Must be Henry VIII then. Not sure where his wives come from, but Cleeves sounds French and I think Aragon is Spanish, which leaves Howard, Parr, Seymour and Boleyn. Shot in the dark - I'll say Jane Seymour.
  14. It depends whether you mean from Germany as a state, or from the region that is now called Germany. As the unified state we now call Germany didn't exist before the 19th Century, it will presumably be a king from the 20th Century, after Victoria. Although I don't know if she was German or not, I'll guess Mary of Teck, wife of George V.
  15. You can see a map off all caches found by a given user (including archived) with the map compare tool at Project GC. For example, a map of all my finds can be found at https://project-gc.com/Tools/MapCompare?profile_name=Optimist+on+the+run&onefound=on&showdisabled=on&showarchived=on&submit=Filter I
