  1. I use Jasc's Paint Shop Pro for most of my image editing stuff... and break out Photoshop when I run into something that PSP can't handle or that I can do better in PS.
  2. Not sure if you were addressing the silver coin pic I posted or not, but if so, this is a natural occuring chemical change on the metal. Silver oxidizes and can produce this rainbow effect. It's common among older silver coins that are not stored in the best conditions. In some cases it can add to the value of a coin. In extreme cases, the coin turns black, destroying its value.
  3. What a great design!!! I'm just bummed that I missed seeing this one.
  4. Ooo... Oooo... Mercury! Make a glass mold then inject Mercury into the mold and seal. Bleh! Bad idea. On a side note, here's what I thought of when I started reading this thread... The Elements by Tom Lehrer The sad part is I can sing along to most of it. [/geek]
  5. If the Northern Lights coin was done in pure silver you could get a great natural rainbow effect (with time, of course) and each coin would be unique. See a few more examples of rainbow toning here... Bright Rainbow Toning on Silver
  6. Man... first Aerohound puts planes on a coin, now a hockey coin... Gee! Did a list of my hobbies get loose out on the internet or something? Maybe Paris Hilton still had it saved in her cell phone from when I sent it to her. At least it's not the Blues. I'd have to buy like 50 of those. (Please don't hold me to that, anyone thinking of making a STL Blues coin.)
  7. First coins I've ever gotten in the mail... 1 2005 Alaska (Brass Edition) (Great Design!!!!) 2 Aerohound Coins (Had to get it for the airplanes.) What have I gotten myself into??? (Still trying to get my slimy little lizrd paws on a JeeperMTJ coin though... Love that design.) And technically, I also got a 2004 US Mint Silver Proof Set of coins... but that's a different hobby.
  8. AAAAAHHHH!!!! My brain!!! It hurts my brain!!!!!
  9. Nothin' says "High grossing eBay listing" more than a coin in extremely limited supply.
  10. Well said. I wish I could sum up my points so quickly. I tend to be a little wordy. Am I talking too much. Sorry, it won't happen again. Well... I can't promise that...*trails off into incoherence*
  11. Capitalism has nothing to do with how much money you keep. It has more to do with the ability to earn money in a free and open market. Many great Capitalists have also been great Philanthropists. The more you have, the more you can give. (If you choose to do so.) If you can find a way to earn money... whether you keep it or give it away, then you are a good capitalist. [/tired of Capitalism being a 4-letter word]
  12. I don't know why everyone gets their dander all in a fluff because of this eBay issue. This is a free (and strongly capitalistic) market, my friends. If "it" has value to someone, "it's" for sale somewhere. Beyond being a site to auction and buy items, eBay is a tool that allows people to look at an abbreviated version of the market... to see what is and isn't popular. I personally am grateful to see that our hobby is so popular that nearly every listing for a Geocoin has at least one bid for it. Not to mention that a lot of the proceeds are going to charities. Like I said on another board about this issue... If you don't like it, don't do it. If your ethical stance on this issue is that coins should only be traded, found, or preordered then stick to it. I personally believe that if I can get a coin I want in trade, great... if I can't and it is on eBay and within what I am willing to spend, then that's how I'm gonna get it. I want you to know, this is in no way an attack on you, Mr. Volkswagon. I know a lot of people feel the way you do and that I may be stepping on some toes. This is just this little lizrd's opinion.
  13. I'd like 2 as well. Great design on the obverse!
  14. I love the crappy cache coin.... only problem I don't have enough cash to buy all the coins that I would need. Oooooo.... if you make it trackable and put an icon that looks like that pile that would show up next to the cache it was in... HAHAHAHAHA!!! What a stir that would cause. *giggles with anticipation* I really, really, really want this coin now!
  15. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Geocoin.
  16. ROFL!!! I would seriously buy a few of those coins. I think that is hilarious!
  17. Same here. I ordered a couple as well.
  18. Coin errors = more valuable... at least in the regular coin world. I like it. It gives the coin charm and individuality.
  19. Now that I have access to my image editing suite at home here is my graphical entry in the absurd coin category. The 50th Anniversary of Waffle House GeoCoin!!!! EDIT: Oh yeah... it'd have to have "Scattered, Smothered, Covered, Chunked, Topped & Diced" around the edge too.
  20. Elvis is here. Elvis McLeod that is. This is about my favorite place in the world. Now back on subject... my DNF coin. No, it's not like the one that Marky is making. No matter how often you go to your mailbox, you will not find this coin. Taking preorders now. And I think a Paris Hilton coin would be about the funniest thing I'd evar seen. The only thing funnier would be Nicole Richie before the drugs on the obverse and after the drugs on the reverse.
  21. Actually you would have heard it here first. Sorry, pcsenn... I gotta take props when I can get 'em. Heck... I don't get 'em anywhere else.
  22. I collect 1oz silver coins from China and the US Mint and this is right on par with the price you'd pay for a Walking Liberty or other such coins. I'll probably pick one or two of these up. Would make for a great FTF prize.
  23. Ooohhh... I like the gecko. May have to use that one for my personal coin... once I mint it.
  24. Changed my idea for what the icon is going to be. Turned out much better than the original idea. Thanks.
  25. Ooohh... yeah... the sharpen helps a lot. Still kinda dumpy looking but getting there. Thanks. Any other suggestions would be appreciated still.
