  1. quote:[on edit] I see George M above had the same idea as me, but with an even better implementation. I really think this would be a great idea. I agree here, about the bands of color, those [x]'s kind of suck. It appears the 'new' system logged me off, and that's why I didnt have any [x] or the checkbox to exclude found caches on the new search page. Speed definitley seems better. I have a broadband connection, but it was always the geocaching server that was swamped and failed to respond during busy hours.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Jeremy (Admin): 2 No indication of whether we've found it Green date (on the right) and [x] mark to the left of the name. You can also remove all finds from your list (New Search) I'm not seeing any colored dates or x's
  3. When I go to MY CACHE PAGE, then click 'Search for nearest caches in <mystate> or Zipcode' it brings up a new list. Fine, but the list is 'ALL GEAOCACHES' and I can't see a difference between the ones I've found, hidden, and need to find. What am I missing?
  4. This person who posted as 'fakacount' should be tracked down and have their legs broken so he/she doesnt have another kneejerk reaction. If you're gonna b!tch about it, at least have the cojones to show who you really are.
  5. Zahrim, The South started east of the Mississippi. Think Confederacy. The Triangle is in North Carolina; Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. I would have never known if I didn't live nearby, so I can't blame you for asking.
  6. Just poking around the Geocaching webpage, and I found this dead link. In the third paragraph of the Credits page... Mike Teague was the first to find the container, and built the first web site to document these containers and their locations that were posted to the sci.geo.satellite-nav newsgroup.
  7. Just last Saturday, we logged our biggest day of 9 caches found. Friday, I mapped out 12 in the same general area, with a goal of getting a double digit find-count in one day. After 8 finds, one CAN'T FIND, one multi where the next point was out of our planned area, another multi that we bagged due to time, we decided to try the 9th (last planned) on the way home. It was 6:10 pm when we drove in the park. A sign said GATE LOCKED AT 7:00. We rushed in, did the ~1 mile hike, despite the 'BATTERIES LOW' message on the GPSr. Earlier in the day the batteries died, but I had extra batteries in my pocket. Doh, apparently I dropped one somewhere earlier, so I only had 1 to refresh the GPSr. That combo didnt last long, but died right when we found the cache. Later that night, I added a travel bug to my own cache, so technically, I did visit 10 caches/one day :-)
  8. I just mounted my eTrex with this R.A.M. system. I spec'ed my own, and eliminated the double ball system. Works good on my mt. bike. http://www.gpscity.com/accram/ram/rammounts.html http://www.gpscity.com/accram/ramhol/ramholma1.html http://www.gpscity.com/accram/rapb200/rap274.html
  9. When I enter a point, I enter the coordinates and leave the elevation blank. What happens when I use the 'GoTo' function on my GPS, and I'm at 870 ft above sea level. Does the GPS assume the cache is also at 870 ft above sea level?
  10. Hi, I just got an eTrex Venture and have been finding caches for a few weeks now. This is fun! When I'm looking at the cache descriptions online, I see the coordinates, but no elevation. It seems like I might get a more accurate reading when caching if I also had the elevation stored in my GPS unit. Do you all just punch in (or download) the coordinates and go? I havent successfully hooked my GPS to the PC yet. Maybe the elevation is included in the downloadable info? I guess as I approach the cache, I could adjust the elevation based on current readings. My own post has started me thinking... Thanks, Tony
