  1. How does everybody feel about caches that are meant to look like an electrical panel of an outlet of some sort. I see that its done a lot but I have mixed feelings about it. I work for an electric company and can see the danger in placing caches such as these. I wouldn't want a cacher especially a child sticking their hands were they don't belong. That just my thoughts on it. I know that its legal but shouldn't people take this into consideration. I know there are many more examples that could be named other than electrical hazards like busy roads and the like just wanted to get a feel for what the majority thought.
  2. I do replace wet log sheet but once in a while I'll come up to to a log sheet that is slam full of logs. To me that is really cool. I will replace that log if there is room to put in a new log sheet and I will put a note on the cache that the log sheet is full. But if its that cool looking I will leave the log sheet in there and add a new one.
  3. The cache listing itself should dictate how you find the cache. example: "Park here" "Leave like you found it" "Stay on this side of the fence" In the spirit of not getting muggled you shouldn't drive up to a sight and open the doors at the GZ unless its a P&G. But thats for how you arrive. Find and replace the cache like you found it is another no brainer. I have always wondered myself how many cache have been muggled and how many have just been screwed up by accident by cachers not taking their time. So basically when it comes to caching you don't want everbody to know your business and the only proof that you have been there should be the log sheet.
  4. I was going to leave a log book. The camera was just going to be there for fun.
  5. I'll have to play around with it. I have only placed like 4 caches and nothing extreme. Thanks for the help.
  6. Or it could be part of a series and inside could be a clue to the next location. But then again it could just be Grandma's Sewing Box and that is what you should call this cache and tell me thank you in the listing for such an awesome name. But seriously check and make sure its not part of multi or something. Check your map or try to get up with some of the cachers in the area that put out the majority of the caches, they should know whats up.
  7. I have an old digital camera that I'm not using anymore. I was thinking of incorporating it into a cache and letting the cachers take a picture of themselves getting there " Smiley " on. Since it is a digital camera I can upload the pictures easy enough but how could I display the pictures so that the cachers can admire the cache for what it is, a photo journal. Any ideas????
  8. Thanks I will give them a few more look overs just to be sure then I will do that. Thanks for the replies
  9. OK we all know these people. I live in a very rural area and geocaching isn't very popular. However I love it and so do quite a few more people in the area. There is a small, spread out series of caches in my area and a few stragglers that are really close to my house, which is rare. I have searched them all over with no luck like the 20 DNF's before me. I clicked on the owner of the caches name and they haven't been on for a while. The other day I go to a cache trying to get a FTF and I see the owner of the previous caches name on my FTF!! So they have been caching hard in the area for over a month and a half and still haven't gone to check there own caches... drives me crazy. I've heard of "Angel Caches" and all that but why should I waist my time fixing other peoples caches when they are out caching. The only thing I know to do is what I and a few others have done, write notes on the listing and hope that it gets through to them. I didn't know if it was something I could talk to a reviewer about. I've been caching since the beginning of August and I am flat out enjoying it. I would enjoy it more though if people took care of their caches. Which more than likely has got to be the biggest complaint made by geocachers.
  10. I just started geocaching in Aug. and it gaining popularity somewhat here. I love it. Last month however I went on a trip with the inlaws to Busch Gardens and picked up my first out of state cache while snacking at a McDonald's. I logged it on my phone and moved on. I go to check my stats and I see that I am missing a cache!! It was the one from out of state too. So I had to guess what town I was in and then cross reference MacDonald restaurants in the area to geocaches. I found it after much searching and signed the log. I guess my phone was Roaming and didn't send the information properly.
